Her eyes opened to a brand new day to Hogwarts. The sun was shining high in the sky sigifying the day was late. There were birds chirping outside the window enjoying the bits of sunshine that was probably over shadowed by the coldness of the weather. The windows in the room showed signs of frost the temperature must have dropped significantly over night. Not really appealing but still the day must go on. Slipping off the covers an instant chill took over, causing a shiver, sitting up grabbing a robe and throwing it on Chelse went off to shower and dress.
Not being too fussy about her looks she threw on a simple sweater that was way too long and a bit too big, a pair of jeans that looked more then just worn. Some thick socks, and a pair of those fuzzy oversized calf length boots that were so popular they were dead ugly but so very warm. Then she grabbed her coat before heading off to breakfast. It was all being taken to go though. So she took a plate and piled it with eggs, sausages, toast, and waffles. Taking a napkin she placed it over the top. Placing the plate down she threw on her coat, grabbed up the dish and took it with her.
She wasn't suposed to do this she knew but if she didn't who knew if he would. Sometimes it felt like she was the mother but it was a role she enjoyed. Her father was her life she adored him and looked up to him so taking care of him well it was nothing. Walking across the grounds her feet crunching the hardened grass she made her way to the groundkeepers cabin that was where he resided. Knocking hard in case he was still asleep Chelse waited outside the door hoping he would be right there so the food didn't get cold.

He had been working hard and late into the night with Dax, the other Groundskeeper as they had been chopping wood and staking it outside of the hut. It was cramped inside the hut with the two of them living in there at the same time but it wouldn't be for long. Piling up the last of the wood for the night, Dom and Dax decided to call it a night and it wasn't long before Dom was fast asleep in the temporary hammock that had been set up inside the hut.
It seemed the hard work and hauling wood around all day had taken it's toll on him and exhausted him more than he'd realised, and it wasn't until he heard a loud thud on the thick wooden door did his eyes open and squint at the slight morning sunshine that shone through the small window at the back on the hut. Yawning, he stretched and slid off the hammock and walked slowly to the door in his wife beater vest and his navy pyjama bottoms and opened the door, his hand wiping his eyes before he realised that his daughter was at the door.
"Hello you" he said greeting her with a manly hug before giving her a rub on her back and stepping inwards so she could come in. Greeting her with a half-hearted smile, he didn't even look at the clock before he turned around and sat at the table, putting his head in his hands and running them through his shaven head and signalling to her to sit down with him.
"It's a bit early isn't it? What are you doing up at this time?" he asked, giving a look over his shoulder to see Dax with his leg poking out of his pit as he snored gently until he gave an almighty roar of snoring before continuing with his rhythmical snoring pattern. Smirking slightly and shaking his head, he looked back to his daughter.
“Is that for me?” he asked, pointing to the breakfast she had in her hands. She often did this thinking that he couldn’t feed himself, but in all truthfulness he liked her being slightly fussy over him, he thought it cute. His brown eyes met hers and he placed his hand on the back of her head, pulling it forward slightly before planting a kiss on her forehead.
“You’re too good to me you know. You need to start worrying about yourself more, not your dad” he told her, his voice low as he let her go. Picking up his wand, he flicked it over to the pot hanging over the fire and it filled with water and the fire lit, boiling the water.
“Do you want some tea?”

The cabin her dad was living in was rather small, especially since he had to share it with the other grounds keeper Dax. Soon he would have to leave this place and find a bigger place. Hopefully not to far from the school because Chelse enjoyed having him there so close by. Somehow it was a relief. She was so close to him, after he took her away from her mother Chelse sort of became daddy's little girl and she liked it that way.
When Dominic Fagan came to the door he was a sight, completely disheveled looking as if he had just gone to sleep. He looked a mess but a handsome mess. He smiled and pulled her into one of his bear like hugs sometimes she wondered if he forgot she was a girl and she giggled.
After her moved out of the way she followed him inside again marveling at the size of the place. She wondered how one person functioned in there but two it was a miracle they weren't falling all over each other. Giving her head a tiny shake she placed the plate on the table as her dad asked why she was up so early. "Do you have a clock in here da, it's a lot later then you think you know." She gave him one of her looks.
He took notice of her offering and asked if it was for him. "Yeah it is for you but for me too I need nourishment old man," she said jokingly ad she pulled the paper napkin off. "All the comforts of the Great Hall without actually leaving the warmth of your hut." Taking care of him made her day even if she knew he didn't need it.
"No one will ever take care of you like I do da so you just remember that when you're off flirting with some woman or another, and tea sounds lovely." Trying to find some plates Chelse looked around the room until she spotted them. Grabbing one and the utensils too, she stared separating the food trying hard not to laugh at Dax who was snoring like a big old grizzly bear. "How in the world do you sleep in here with that racket. He's so loud for such a small man." Sitting down across her father she took a bite of food happy it was still warm.

Dom couldn't help but worry about his daughter, that's what parents did. Especially after the commotion of having a psycho ex-girlfriend who was the other half of the parenting team. Grace, Chelsea's mum, constantly wrote to the pair pleading with both Dominic and Chelsea, begging to see them and trying to make up to them but in truth, Dominic could never forgive her for taking out her problems on her daughter. He had risked her being hurt already, and he wasn't going to risk it again.
Besides, Chelsea was old enough to decide for herself now who she wanted to be with, and Dom was sure she wouldn't want to be in the company of her mother. Looking over to a wall at the back of the hut, Dom squinted, the morning blurriness still in his eyes before he managed to focus on the time. "Blimey, that time already aye? Your dad's getting lazy"
As the water in the black pot began to boil slowly over the fire, Dom heard Chelsea pottering about looking for some plates in which he just smirked to himself, pulling two mugs off the shelf above him and making the tea. He began chuckling deeply to himself as the clatter of plates emerged from nowhere and Dom was quite amused at the state of the hut with two grown men living in such a confined space. "Oh, you managed to find them then?" he grinned at his daughter.
"Your an angel in disguise do you know that?" he said, happily tucking into the breakfast that Chelsea had snuck out from the Great Hall. Forking a piece of bacon, Dom stuffed it into his mouth. "But you're getting too good at stealing this, am I to be worried?" he asked jokingly continuing to munch on his warm breakfast. Pushing the tea over to her he took his own and drank almost half of it in one gulp, obviously thirsty.
When she mentioned a woman, Dom almost choked on the bacon that was still uneaten and attached to his fork in his mouth. Pulling it out, he looked at her wide eyed for a moment before biting the end of the bacon free from the fork. "You know you're the only woman in my life, baby. You always will be" he gave a dashing grin.
Giving a hearty laugh as Dax gave another loud exhale, he looked over his shoulder and threw the nearest thing at the snoring monster which happened to be a small book. Hitting him square in the chest, Dax grunted before rolling over and continuing his sleep. "You know, I have no idea..." he replied.

People teased her a lot about spending so much time with her father. So many of the other kids called it "unnatural" said it wasn't normal for a kid to be so attached to their parent. Chelse didn't give a damn about what they thought. Her father was there for her when she needed him to be. No one knew what it was like in that house with her mother the beatings she would have to endure, the verbal tongue lashings she had to sit through, all because the unbalanced woman couldn't have a man that no longer wanted her. No her father saved her from that life. Something she could never forget.
He raised her and did everything for her even coming to work at the school so they weren't far apart. He was her only parent the only one that counted anyway. Her mother constantly tried to get back into her life sending her owl after owl. There was even one in her room right now. One she hadn't told her father about because Chelse knew he didn't like to hear from her. Chelse didn't either she never answered usually tossed them in the rubbish bin. This one well she hadn't done it yet but didn't know why.
"Ah well da there's not a lot of places to hid dishes in here you know. Plus I'm nosy so finding things is my specialty" she winked and giggled at him.
"Angel me far from it but if you like to think so I won't argue with you. As for the stealing, I go by unnoticed so it's not hard to sneak out with a plate full of food when no one knows you're alive." None of this was said in a sad sort of way. Chelsea really didn't much care about the other students she was happy with her life just the way it was.
Her dad almost choked she knew why, she often joked about him finding a girl and she typically got the same reaction. For her it was just what she really did want to hear. Even if she felt it was wrong to deny him some happiness she just didn't feel ready to share him with someone else. Soon she'd be off living her life and she wouldn't be around as much, but for now she was still here and she just wanted her da to pay attention to her. He gave her that smile he usually did the one that made her smile back at him. Oh man when he did find a woman she was toast when he smiled.
Before she could say a word Dax snored again, and Chelse giggled because it really did sound like a grizzly bear. "Can't you buy him a muzzle of something. that's probably why you're sleep is so poor. Cause I know you're not lazy you're the hardest working man I know."
