from peoples' mouths at the prospect of a new class being taught at Hogwarts. It was only a matter of time before it either indeed sprung up, or didn't, and everyone stopped chattering about it. So imagine Willa's surprise when she--in the midst of having a fun and ever-so-hilarious wild goose chase through the halls with a frustrated Slytherin lummox--nearly ran head-first into an ancient, wooden door that hadn't seemed to be there before. Shoes skidding on the stone as she fought to gain her balance, the Gryffindor's hand flew out and slapped against the wall, holding itself there until she found some stability. The parchment caught her eye, and she stepped closer, hearing the click-clacking of the Snake's high-heels against the floor as they wound themselves down a different hallway than the one she was in. Burn. Sliding her tongue over her lips she grinned, eyes flickering over what was written on the note: Mythology roster sheet, please sign your names as well as year and house. "Mythology?" Willa murmured to herself, intrigued only because she had always a love for that area of history. Looking around for a quill, finding none, Willa shrugged her shoulders before Accio'ing one to her. Within a few minutes it came rocketing at her and she had to side-step in order to avoid getting impaled by the tip. Prying it out of the wall and checking to see if it could still write, all the while with an amused look on her face, the Gryffindor then summoned the ink jar, this time whipping her hand out to catch it and draw it to her before it shattered against the door. Dipping her quill in the ink Willa wrote: Willa Abbott Fifth Year Gryffindor Nodding her head, satisfied this time it was legible, Willa remembered how when she signed up for Care of Magical Creatures and poor Professor O'Donnell hadn't been able to read it correctly. Yeah, she was that messy a writer. She'd been called Herman Flecklestein for half the year and hadn't even known it, with how grungily she wrote. Laughing out loud at this she shook her head with a grin, turning back around and starting off down the hallway before freezing. Slowling her pace to a comfortable walk, only tripping once, she smirked, deciding to let the Slytherin wander quickly down the halls looking for a threat that wasn't there.[/ul]

Tobe did well in his studies always. The majority of people (some Professors included) just think hes a jammy bugger who can manage to mess around 24/7, and get good marks with no work. Close friends realise however, though they never mention it to him, that his "extra quidditch practice" is actually him spending time in the quietest, most deserted parts of library keeping up to date with work. It is true that things do click in his mind perhaps more easily than most, but he still has to work for his marks even if he won't admit it.
The opportunity for mythology was something that appealed to Toby quite a lot. It was the sort of subject that might not apply to every day life unless you were some sort of historian, but it was a whole bloody lot more interesting than some of the stuff they ended up learning.
He scribbled down his name, year and house, before looking it up and down with a wrinkled nose. Putting his quill to parchment again, he finally gave a satisfied grin before wandering back down the corridor.

Sarie quickly went to the sign up sheet for the new class. She had to get thought the crowd already around it. She was lucky to be so small.

Mythology? Well, it certainly sounded interesting didn't it. Felicity had first heard about it through the usual gossip, when students were freaking out over the new professor. She only barely paid attention, but when Bray mentioned it soon after, she decided to take some interest in it. Come on, it couldn't be that bad right? Plus, it was a perfect chance to rack up some point for the Claws. Yay house points!
So, Fay happened to be wandering down the right hallway today, though she wasn't exactly looking for said parchment. She had been trying to find Bray, because apparently he had snatched one of her essays to compare them. Stupid boy, he was probably OCD or something. Always obsessing over being better than she was. Whatever. It was probably some testosterone fueled nonsense.
The piece of parchment caught her eye as she walked down the hallway, grumbling softly under her breath. She paused mid-step, and spun on her heel to look at the sign-up list. Only two Gryffindors? Well, they needed a Ravenclaw then didn't they? Felicity drew out her pen and scrawled her name after Mr. Moran's, laughing softly to herself at his signature. She had half a mind to cross out the last part, but then decided against it. Let the boy have his fun. And scare the teacher while he was at it. This class would certainly be fun. With a smile on her lips and a bounce in her step, Polaris quickly made her way to the unused room that was to be the new Mythology class. Boy, was she ever excited! Mythology, such an awesome subject to learn here at the otherwise boring Hogwarts. Reaching the door, she noticed all of the signatures on some sort of parchment. 'Sign ups!'. She also noticed that most of those signed up were Gryffindors. But, that wouldn't be for long.

There had been rumours of a new teacher walking the school corridors, and normally the rumours were a little farfetched and Brooke never listened to them, but she heard a few people talking about a mythology class and it all made sense. As a few random people stood huddled around a piece of parchment, Brooke looked over their shoulder before the students disappeared around the corner. Reading it, she realised the rumours were actually true for once.
"Mythology huh? Meh, might as well" she said to herself. Reading the list of names, she spotted Toby's and instantly sighed. That boy was everywhere.

Post by Alice Simmons on Jul 23, 2008 22:28:36 GMT
It was over a cup of tea in her step brother’s hut did Alice find out about the new lesson and the new Professor. Dax had told her everything he knew and what was rumoured about what the lesson was going to entail, of course the school was buzzing with excitement and when a very red looking 4th year came breathlessly running into the Hufflepuff Common Room shouting about a sign up sheet for the class. It took Alice only a few seconds to jump to the conclusion that this was a lesson she had to be a apart of.
With a wide smile Alice ran to door where the parchment was hanging. It was strange that she had never noticed this door before and even when the 4th year tried to describe to everyone where it was he still was received with many a blank face. There was quite a crowd gathering around it and elbowing her way to the front the little Hufflepuff read over the names, a frown appearing as she noticed that she was the only Hufflepuff. Well that was going to change.
Alice Simmons, Second year Hufflepuff!! Pleased with her small scribble and underlining Hufflepuff just to emphases the greatness of the house Alice skipped back to the Hufflepuff Commonroom ready to watch the semi-finals of the Hufflepuff Chess Tournament.

It wasn't the rumors that attracted Noah - he barely ever bothered with those - nor was it the subject itself. Mythology didn't sound particular invigorating, especially as it seemed to be a textbook class, one where he wouldn't get to blow things up with wayward charms or meet severely sinister creatures.
In fact, Noah had resolved to avoiding Mythology and using the spare time to practice something practical (like Quidditch!)
Though, what finally won the Gryffindor over was the cluster of students at Olman's ancient door. It made the lesson seem overtly important and unable to resist, Noah snatched a quill from a passing third year.
Noah Yves Sixth Year, Gryffindor The ink, deep like indigo, turned scarlet as soon as he wrote his name. Noah smirked wryly as he watched, eyes glancing briefly at the picture sprawled across the poster.
"Cool enough," he muttered, before jamming the quill in his back pocket and squeezing through the still-clustered group.

Isis ambled through the school with tiny steps, hardly getting forward in the class changing crowd. Isis looked at the dull expression on the faces of the students, who were leaving their classes, as she passed by they still had a long day of classes to go so this was only the tip of the iceberg.
No one noticed Isis when she was in class, perhaps because of her length or her soft voice. This gave Isis an excuse to escape from classed and do something more fun, going to the library or just a little stroll around. Isis was usually alone, she didn't act as if she was interested in friends, and she didn't try to make friends. Isis didn't know the latest gossip and newest couples, she wasn't interested in that kind of stuff, but now and than she picked up some rumors. Most rumors she forgot quickly but some were useful, so was this one.
There had been rumors going round the castle that a new class would be taught on Hogwarts, Mythology. Isis loved mythology for various reasons. It was everywhere in her still short live, her name, the area of birth, and after all it was her beloved father's passion.
As soon as Isis saw an unfamiliar door, there were many of them throughout Hogwarts, she began to amble faster till she reached the crowd. The fiery red colour of the house of Gryffindor dominated the list by far followed by the nautical blue of Ravenclaw and the happy yellow of Hufflepuff.
Isis tried to squeeze herself through the crowd as she took a quill out of her pocket. When she finally reached the parchment she dipped her quill into the dark blue ink and scribbled down her name, year and house after a quick check if this really was a sign up for a Mythology class.
Isis Carmody, 1st Year, Gryffindor
She gave a quick smile as she saw her name being immortalized on the list. She squeezed herself back through the crowd, heading to the Gryffindor commons. New energy flew through her veins with the thought of the upcoming mythology lessons, despite being the youngest.

So, she hadn't been planning on taking Mythology. The prospect didn't exactly thrill her, but Noah had demanded her attendance, and what Noah says goes. She walks up to the register and autographs it:
Echo Keir, Sixth Year, Gryffindor .
'Well, it could be interesting anyways,' she thinks sarcastically, '-and if it's not, I'll make it so.' She tilts her head, inquisitive and fascinating thoughts racing through her head. A twitch at the corner of her mouth almost looks like a smile, and then she skips off down the hallway.

She had heard some giggly girls talking about a new class being offered at the school. Not usually one to eavesdrop Alexis ignored them for the most part, until she heard the word Mythology. Her blue eyes lit up and began to sparkle as she thought to herself how great it was. Mythology was an awesome subject something she had always wanted to learn more about. So walking up to the two strangers Alexis chatted them up a bit finding out just where the sign up sheet was for the class. After getting it she jettisoned down there found the sheet and this time she had her pen ready. Placing her name there she couldn't wait.
Alexis Cane, Ravenclaw, 4th Year.
