NEWT Level Ancient Runes The Beginning of Magic: Theoretical Runic Magic Professor Kridik had only two classes his first day; a definite signal that people still had little understanding of the ancient magic of runes. After having completed the OWLs class earlier in the day, Errol melted the room down to its normal state; stone walls and wooden furniture. As interesting as the room was before, looking like a Nordic cave; Errol was sure the NEWTs students would have found the freezing temperatures less than pleasing. He had a new arrangement for the classroom this time. A single circular table stood in the middle of the room.
The circular table was different from others in that there was no centre. Open space stood in the middle of the desk. Professor Kridik reserved this setup for the NEWTs class for several reasons. Chief among those reasons was that it fostered easier discussion. The first lesson would be very interesting since students would get to think about the origin of magic that was directly linked to runes. Wide, tall windows let afternoon sunlight flow into the ancient classroom, making the walls glow with a golden aura. The stones that Errol had set up in the room still remained, keeping the defensive spells in place.
It was almost fifteen minutes before the class was to begin; so, Professor Kridik made final preparations, looking at the roster to get an idea of the class:
Ravenclaw: Polaris Stormwrath, 7 Carolanne Roberts, 7
Hufflepuff: Melusine Beauxmon, 7
Slytherin: Jason Walker, 7
Sitting down a the circular table, Errol took out a piece of parchment and a quick-quotes-quill. Sucking on the end of the quill, he knew the priceless object would take very good notes of the class. He wanted to keep a record of the class for future reference. All was prepared for the upcoming class; Professor Kridik simply had to wait for the fairly ‘large’ class to arrive.

Another Ancient Runes class, how fortunate for Polaris! It was hard for her to relate to anyone when she spoke of the magic that her home country held and the history and language surrounding it. No one really seemed to care, and if they were being nice about it, they would always end up leaving in the end. Blasphemy, so little people were educated in the essential magics!
With a hop in her step, the Ravenclaw hastily made her way to class. So, she was a bit early, but this was, by far, her favourite class of all time. Hopefully she could relate to the Professor this time, the other one was a bit stuck up.
Upon entering the classroom, the girl smiled and held her hand out to the Professor and shook it briefly, but in a firm manner. "God dag, Profesjon. It's a pleasure to be taking this class, thank you for hosting it. My name is Polaris Stormwrath." Her voice and accent rang through the quiet room, making her hope that her introduction wasn't seen as a 'suck-up' act.
Polaris held a smile on her lips while she took a seat across the table from him and a bit to the right. "Profesjon, you have no idea how much I am glad to have this class. I do hope you'll make it fun, ja?" She teased him before laughing softly. Not being able to help it, she broke the gaze and flicked her bi-coloured eyes around the room in an almost childish awe.
"I'm early, aren't I?

Jason wasn't originally going to sign up for this class, but after a meeting with Errol, he couldn't pass up the invitation. The boy respected his Professor as a fellow man of interest, and that was a hard title to earn. Though, he did it and was glad he did. Now he wouldn't have to talk to himself when he wanted to discuss the Dark Arts!
Four people including myself. What a class.. He mused silently, as he walked down the corridors until he reached his destination.
The Slytherin stepped into the rune, greeted by two smiling faces. Charming. Jason returned the smile and sauntered up to Polaris before bowing his head slightly and speaking in his native tongue. "Guten morgen, Fräulein Stormwrath. Es ist ein Vergnügen, Sie wieder zu sehen."
They had met quite a few times previously, exchanging stories of heritage and past times in ancient languages, often musing and sharing a laugh all the same. She also, was a friend, if he dared to say.
Taking a seat between Errol and Polaris, Jason lay his hands atop of the table, folding them in slight boredom. "I look forward to your class, Professor. And I'm sure Miss Stormwrath here is as well." He chuckled softly. "Do you have anything fun in store for us this time around? The last teacher was a nutcase, as well as every other Professor here.." Jason's words eventually trailed off and went quite from his mind being taken over by visuals of grandeur and folly. [/color]

Ancient Runes was a class that Carolanne had always been fond of. This year, however, was going to be just a little difficult for this Ravenclaw. She wasn't exactly sure how she was going to juggle all her classes and head girl duties around and still manage to have some time for herself but she was determined to make it work.
Laney had entered the room behind Jason Walker, a Slytherin and fellow seventh year. She didn't know much of him or about him so it wasn't a big deal to her that she was in the same class as him as it would have been for other students.
The Classroom consisted of this. A large round table, Professor Errol, Polaris, Jason and herself. It wasn't going to be a large class but it was definitely going to be an interesting one. Carolanne took a seat next to Polaris and set her book bag on the floor next to her feet. Everyone was introducing themselves in their native tongue and Carolanne found it slightly intimidating; the only language she knew was some french and that was it.
She left her introduction be for now. She was sure the Professor already knew the names of his students, besides, Laney was having a bit of a shy moment so she decided to keep to herself for the time being; or at least until the lesson actually began.

Professor Kridik was glad to see three students in his room. He was expecting another student, Melusine Beauxman, but he was not going to postpone the class for her schedule; it was time to begin the class. Standing up from his chair, Errol walked around the table, flicked his wand to shut the door, and began speaking. "Good day," he began, "I'm glad you are all here. Ms Stormwrath, I presume you are Norwegian, ja? I've spent half my life in Norway. I know Mr Walker. And, Ms Roberts, you seem to have a certain air of Britishness about you."
The ethnicity of the classroom had gone mad; Errol smiled at the thought as he walked back to his chair and stood behind, keeping his left hand on the back as he spoke. "Welcome to Ancient Runes, again," he said almost smugly, "today we'll will begin with discussion, as I'm sure all of you enjoy." Moving slightly, he continued, "this is not Dark Arts class; so, we will not delve into the depths of light and dark magic. We will discuss how magic began in this world. Why are humans able to harness it? And, how did the beginning of magic affect the creation of warlocks and muggles?" Inviting everyone to join in, he sat at the table, "today, we delve into the depths of magical theory; and our next lesson will connect that beginning theory to runes. To answer your question Mr Walker, this should be a fun lesson."
Errol moved the parchment and quick-quotes-quill to the side and leaned forward a bit to get the discussion started, "tell me what your theories are of how magic began and how that connects to modern magic. No need to raise hands or other such nonsense. I am confident we can discuss without cutting one another off."
