(Forest) Now You Know I'm Mad/Insane

[Naruto Greene]

Naruto sat in the hollow of a large tree. She was not sure what kind of tree just that it was nice and dark out since it was the night of the new moon. The only light she could see was her own 'lumos' spell. She was not exactly sure why she had snuck out, especially without Ramen to help her if she got in trouble. She was alone in the forbidden forest in almost complete darkness and was cursing her own stupidity.

All the lights were out when Briar tip-toed across the commonroom. The only light was coming from the slow burning embers of the fire. Briar slowly and quietly slipped out of the castle into the dead, dark night.

Bry thought she had hung low and stayed out of trouble long enough. It was time for some adventure. She tightened Bradyn's jacket around her torso in hopes to keep her warmth from escaping.

She trudged across the castle grounds and reached the entrance of the Forbidden Forest. "Well, here goes," she said as she took a deep breath and took one step into the dangerous forest. Briar kept her arms crossed over her chest as she stomped her way through the thick trees.

Off in the distance, she saw a faint light. You wouldn't really notice it unless you squinted hard enough. Of course, Briar's curiousity got the best of her as she headed for the light. She reached the estimated destination with ease but as soon as she had seen the like, it had vanished. She wondered where it could've gone. Bry sighed and stared into the darkness, hoping nothing would harm her.

Naruto heard footsteps and in fear of being caught she put out the light of her wand and sank deeper into the hollow tree. Her heart was pounding in her ears and she forced herself to breath lightly so the person would not hear her. She rubbed her brown eyes to try and adjust to the darkness and her fingers trailed over the scar over her eye. She just hoped it was a harmless student and not anything else.

Briar heard something, she wasn't exactly sure what it was, but it was enough to make her jump a little. She quickly looked around, trying to squint into the darkness... nothing. "Wh-Who's there?" she asked loudly, trying desprately to hide the quiver in her voice.

When no one answered right away she pulled out wand, "Hello?!" she spoke louder, hoping nothing would jump out at her.

Naruto suddenly heard a familiar voice call out and froze. She tried to remember who it was as the voice called out again and her memory shifted to all the other Hufflepuffs she had met in passing. One voice suddenly stuck out in her mind. A fifth year she had said hello to in passing. 'What was her name?' She thought desperately. 'BRIAR!' Maybe she can help, if she doesn't just hex me for popping out.
"Is that you Briar?" Naruto called out loud not moving from her hiding place just in case she was wrong.

Bry raised her eyebrows in confusion as she heard her name called out, "Maybe, depends on who's asking!" she answered back. She spun around a few times hoping she'd catch a glimps at the owner of the voice but once again was met by utter darkness.

Naruto thought for a moment about a good response and finally settled on one.
"Are you a teacher?" She called back cautiously. She really did not want a detention or something.

Briar started to laugh, "Yeah, right! Me a professor?!" Bry shook her head. That would be the day. Professor Briar Vanderveer... she couldn't even picture it. "Look, just come out. I'm tired of playing games," she said as she put her wand away.

[Naruto Greene]

"Alright but if you hex me I'll dispose of you're body somewhere around here. My name's Naruto. I'm kind of lost..." Naruto came out of her hidding spot in the hollow tree and squinted in the darkness looking for whoever it was. She really had gotten herself lost. She could not for the life of her remember which direction she came in from and she was becoming wary of the dark forest. She was not afraid, just concerned about her health.

Bry sighed, "Naruto, you pain!" she said pulling out her wand, "Lumos," she muttered as the tip of her wand ignited. "Yeah, it's Bry," she said walking over to her. "How in merlin's name, did you get yourself lost this time? And where's Ramen?" she asked.

"Thank Anubus! I wanted to go for a walk because I couldn't sleep and Ramen wouldn't come with me because he wanted to sleep some more. So I came out alone and I was walking on the edge of the forest...but I started daydreaming and ended up here. I thought for sure something was after me. I'm so glad it was just you." Naruto sighed in relief seeing the older girl in front of her. At least she wasn't lost in the woods alone anymore. Hopefully Briar knew the way back and they did not run into anything she was sure was out here.

(It's fine. I loose insperation a lot too.)

Briar laughed as she walked over to Naruto, "You know, it's not very wise to come in here and day dream the whole time. You lose your senses in here pretty fast," Bry said sitting down on a broken stump. "The only way I'd attack you is if you attacked me first, Naruto. You know that," she said with a smirk.

Briar looked at the tree she was sitting in, "What on earth are you doing in there anyway?" she asked, slightly confused.

[Naruto Greene]

"I swear I heard some weird growl so I hid in the best spot where whatever it was could only attack from one direction. I guess maybe it was you or it moved on when it didn't see me." Naruto replied waving her arms about as though it were some great tale of a near-death experience. "I'm not allowed to attack first. Out of respect for my mother's rule of 'finishing not starting' and so I don't get in trouble for defending myself."

Briar started laughing when Naruto explained herself, "I'm pretty sure it was just me, unless there's something or someone still watching us," she said, glancing around a bit before turning her attention back to Naruto with a smile, "I'm just kidding," she said with a small laugh.

Bry nodded, "Well your mother's a smart one then. My mother just told me that if something or someone is bothering me, deal with it not matter what I have to do to make it stop, or whatever," she said placing a hand on her hip.

Naruto grinned in relief.
"Well, what do we do now. I really don't want to be attacked or something and I don't know the way back." Naruto sighed brushing her orange bangs out of her eyes.
