The Roleplayer
Amy ~ 19 ~ England
The Character
Yorick Gatsby ~ 6th Year ~ Unicorn hair Yorick has a weak but existing belief that families can be loved unconditionally, but he battles internally to have genuine bonds with his peers. In his earlier days at Hogwarts Yorick was much like other people, easily susceptible to the unhappiness of being a loner and unable to imagine what must come with no longer having meaning among others. He was viewed as an example of a good Gryffindor, and what he felt for his friends was very close to a child’s version of love, but as he grew older and began to understand that friendships ran deeper than simply friend or foe he developed the habit of questioning other people‘s worth. Best friends who were once colourful and devoted became volatile in Yorick’s eyes. They were liars and hypocrites, bullies to whoever they deemed outside their circle. Yorick tried hard to be ignorant of his new opinions of the people who had only ever accepted him, but guilt and the idea of being judged this same way by strangers slowly turned him inwards.
And so he drifted. He no longer understood the concept of loyalty, something he had always thought to mean fierce comradeship regardless of any obstacle, and he felt traitorous. While most would realise that the end of childhood friendships is simply a part of growing up, Yorick interpreted his feelings as meaning he was somehow faulty and disaffected, incapable of having pride in others, and thus, undeserving of friends.
Yorick now struggles to measure the strength of his relationships, never knowing when acquaintances can finally be counted as friends, or which girl provides that real fire. He feels compelled to try and find a perfect connection once more, but slowly he is accepting his isolation from those he tries to socialise with, learning to cope with only being a Gryffindor on the surface.

~ Relationship Chart ~
Marauders ~ Yorick finds it easy to keep people at a distance, but no man is an island. While most people are kept at arms length (usually without them even realising) no on can function without knowing they have someone who relies on them, and these people know how to make Yorick feel like he has a friend, and vice versa.
Acquaintances ~ You’ve only just met, or know each other in passing – whatever the case, there’s lots of potential here.
Whatever you can do, I can do better ~ Everyone needs a rival, and although Yorick isn’t one for conflict there is always someone who knows how to get under his skin. If you fall into this category you’ll quickly find that Yorick won’t back down easily if he thinks you’re challenging him, and he’ll make a point of trying to outdo you in practically everything you’re proud of. Yorick is rarely like this though – it takes a particular someone to turn him into a pigheaded idiot!
Polar opposites ~ You’re so different to Yorick it’s impossible to understand how the two of you can exist on the same planet without the fabric of time and space collapsing in one itself! Of course, it’s also a well known fact that opposites can attract…
Roses are red, violets are blue ~ No one’s immune to romance, not even you! You’ve got a thing for Yorick whether you want to admit it or not!
North star ~ Quite simply, Yorick would be lost without you.

helena & yorick! roses are red, violets are blue/acquaintances Helena has met Yorick a few times, and they get along fairly well. Helena thinks she has a crush on him, but doesn't know if she's in love or is in love with being in love. Helena flirts playfully with him, but she thinks he thinks she's only joking (which she usually is, but still). They are close enough that they can, say, insult each other playfully, etc. But they still have a long way to go.

Harrison Greg Whatever you can do, I can do better, ex-Marauders From being best friends Harrison and Yorick now sit at opposite sides of the common room exchanging very little other then the odd word of curtsey and a few looks that would be as powerful as most hex’s. Unlike the others in the little gang Harrison has found it harder to forgive and forget about Yorick’s betrayal of their friendship with out giving a suitable explanation. It was almost as if one day they went to bed friends and then in the morning he woke up and decided that he no longer wanted to be part of the gang…which for Harrison is the greatest sin in the world. So now for the Gryffindor he has made it a personal battle of his own to prove to Yorick that the gang are not only bet off without him but his life will be a lot sorrier without Toby, Blake and himself to make the day full of laughter. ((Oh my how lame was that…oh well haha))
