The Character
Name: Jonathan Starsmore
Age: 35
Position: DADA teacher, Ravenclaw HoH
Wand: Fourteen inch, mandrake, phoenix feather
Blood: Pure
About: Irresponsible, conceited, immature, patronising, mean, flashy and grandiloquent are just a few of the ways this habitual drinker can be described. One might question why such a person would be allowed to teach – let alone be near children - but Jonathan would gladly agree (he doesn’t even like young people), but the man has a certain way about him that allows him to get in – and out – of any trouble he bothers to get himself into.
Probably more like the kids themselves, Jonathan is crafty and streetwise, yet still manages to charm passers by into believing he’s a well kept and strict man. Don’t get him wrong, he is strict – just in the wrong way. Daily Jonathan manages to perform impressive displays of blatant disregard to professionalism in the form of bulling students, laughing in the face of rules and heartily drinking (all without breaking a sweat).
It is hardly a secret that Jonathan is only at Hogwarts due to the impressive wage the position of DADA professor has raked up over the years as being supposedly ‘cursed’ – but not even impending doom or the threat of death will keep Jonathan Starsmore away from any cash he can get his hands on. Anyway, how bad could living at Hogwarts be? Right?
Appearance: See avatar.
History: Jonathan worked for a few years in a stress-free but poorly paid job behind a ministry desk. Although a well-known slacker he left Hogwarts with a good handful of NEWTs and was taken on without much difficulty, meaning he was quite independent from a young age. Jonathan was lucky enough to come across a recent advertisement in the Daily Prophet informing him that Hogwarts’s DADA teacher had, yet again, pegged it. With more than one reason to leave his current position (these reasons including the smarmy Gabriel Vandesar and the jaded Quinn Locksley) Jonathan snapped up the opportunity and is now working at Hogwarts…

Relationships
Relationship: Old friends – These people come at the top of the list as they are usually the people who Jonathan has managed to remember or stay in contact with for various reasons (probably because they haven’t got sick of him yet). Old flames, partners in crime, high school chums: all the old crowd. Drinking partners – Those who have come at a later time but have proved to be very amusing. These are the people who share his attitudes, aren’t repeatedly offended by his actions and love to have fun in the form of drinking and rowdy singing. Spoilt sports[/i] – Jonathan has tried to like these people, but they either don’t like him already or are just too moral for their own good. In their company he will probably spend a lot of time trying to turn them to his own sinful ways. Acquaintances[/i] – Some of his less well known colleagues will fall into this category, and maybe a few students who he doesn’t find a complete waste of time. Liability[/i] – In Jonathan’s eyes there is no such thing as enemies, just problems. These people are usually the ones who try and thwart him or get in the way of his fun. Spoilt Sports[/u]
Details: Quinn and Jon, while they both worked for the ministry, got emotionally involved. But then he left and dumped Quinn by letting some other guy tell her. This has left her with strong feelings of a little more then hatred. And as much as he tried, Jon just couldn't get away from Quinn for now they were in the same building as before and tensions are as high as ever.

Old friends and of course still drinking partners
Details:Gobien was like an older brother to Jonathan, with only two years between them, they have shared many an experience together including the highs and the inevitable lows, though mainly the highs from what he can remember, especially in their later years. Jonathan has Jake to thank for introducing him to drink, true Jon had only been a fiesty first year, but he had deserved a shot of the firewhiskey Jake had pilfered from a seventh year. It had been not love of course but friendship at first sight with Jake determined to look out for his younger brother as he liked to think of him. Though really they had been equally young and foolish, and still obviously were; perhaps worse than before as they could so easily get ahold of the drink they so adored. Jake was obviously the better singer in the karioke nights he had often dragged Jon along to; and what fun they had been with Jake clearly getting the girl at the end of the night.
At school they were always in and out of each others pockets, both literally and metaphorically as Jake had been quite poor (or so he claimed) and had often needed some dosh from his younger friend, who he could often best in a scrap too. Even now evidently. Together they had been the perfect team with plenty of, nigh on unnatural, wit and slyness between them and had been the culprits of many a dastardly deed and horrendous hoax, in fact they had been renowned for it, but neither had particularly cared for schooling. Their only major difference was the caniving cunning that Jon had compared with Jake's clever guises, combined they had been nigh on unstoppable, a veritable contender to the Weasley twins themselves.
On leaving Hogwarts Jake became not high and aloof as Jon may have first suspected he might become at getting a job first, but rathermore reserved and wiser somehow. Little did Jon realise that Jake had been handpicked as a spy for the Ministry, from an early age they had kept tabs upon him and nurtured his growth into a spy with various engineered experiences, where Jake had proven his worth. They had always made time for each other, even though Jake was often out of the country but Jake had been sworn to secrecy of his chosen career; the guilt ate him up inside. Until it was all made clear when Jake supposedly failed and was thrown bodily into jail for a terribly long year. The papers had had a field day and slated Jake for all he was worth, only then had Jon known. Jake now comes back to Hogwarts, partly on the run but also to make amends and to apologise to Jon for never being truthful from the start...
RP ideas: Apology Catching up on each others lives and picking up where they left off from school.
