The Character
Name: Samuel Cooper
Nicknames (if any): Sam, Sammy, Coopa
Age & Year: 11/1st Year
Blood: Muggleborn
Wand: Ash 8”
Personality: Sam is very young and naïve to put it simply, even in the muggle world, and by muggle standards, but his heart is in the right place. But he wears his heart on his sleeve always showing his true emotions and very rarely trying to contain or hide them, he’s been brought up that way you see, to stick true to himself. He’s not overly kind or courteous neither but when befriended he’ll stick to you like glue and help you out in any way he can, he of course expects the same in return.
Sammy rarely laughs, instead he giggles like a schoolgirl, quite embarrassing you’d think for a boy his age, but people have rarely commented before and his mum has always adores his little laugh, so he most certainly won’t change it. He’ll laugh and joke easily enough but he’s rather slow and keeping up, though can sometimes be pretty witty when not pressured.
Sam isn’t very clever or gifted just generally a nice lad who’s finding his way in the world, enduring the usual troubles of an 11 year old boy; dangers and so excitement too is often far away. But he’s still very excitable and adoring the new world that is opening its doors to him. Sure he’d dreamt of fairytales, but this one was actually coming true.
Appearance: Young boyish looks he’s considered cute by girls, but that was his mother, sisters, aunties, nan and gran; he really does come from a large family. He has a cheeky little grin when he’s being naughty or boisterous as he can be from time to time. Having many siblings has obviously had an impact so he’s used to a close knit group who share everything together, sure there have been hard times but they struggle through them together as a unit; as a family.
History: Being muggleborn and being from a working class family makes Sam pretty common, as common as muck some people call him in fact, which is a bit harsh as his parents aren’t the brightest of folk but they do still work exceptionally hard to make a living. He’s been brought up “propa” as his dad would say, but his manners are still pretty poor, he’s been taught to always be nice and kind to “young ladies” by his mother but other boys are another matter entirely, his dad always told him to look after number one, and not care a jot for others, “cept family o’ course” but his mother tried to instil better values in young Sammy, teaching him to have faith in humanity and treat others how you would like to be treated. She was a firm Catholic, not overly fanatical but wishing to aid her children in any way she could. Sam was taken to church regularly each Sunday, so long as dad didn’t need him about the house doing chores, as “everyday life has te continue, God ain’t gonna help us’n out with the washing up ya know.” He’d been told that so many times he’d grown weary of it, but loved playing rugby with his dad and brothers, he was small enough to duck beneath their swipes and pretty quick too. So he’s used to the rough and tumble so won’t shy away from a little tustle; only if his family is insulted mind you. Otherwise he’s “as nice as pie,” as his nan would say.
