Vanessa was tied between a bunch of things at once. One particular boy, and a war that hadn't seemed to end. Her family was still set on their old ways, and she was beginning to wonder if joining this activist group was such a good idea. It almost seemed as though her parents were behind the ministry, and by joining up against it she was bringing dis-honor to her family name. Then there was Tyler, who would rather die than share his true feelings with her. And of course, the boy she was set to marry after graduation.
Her head was throbbing at the moment, resting on the Slytherin table. The entire Great Hall was empty at the moment, and just about everyone was off at Hogsmeade for the day. She had gone to the kitchens for some tea and then brought it to the table to sip from. But the more she thought about her situation, she wasn't the only one that was bringing shame to her family. There was her sister Maeve, who was falling madly in love with this Gryffindor fellow. They'd both be abandoned if everything continued.
"Kill me now," Nessa whispered, pushing her tea cup away. Vanessa was ready to break free from all of this. She was suppose to be this perfect little pureblood angel, and she hated every second of it. The long flowing dresses and dinner parties when she returned home; her own reflection was beginning to sicken her.

Ashton sighed, it had not been a good week. Actually it hadn't been a good summer either, he had to go back to his father, and after learning that he was gay, Daniel gave his son one of the worst beatings that Ashton had recieved from his hand. And everyday it was the same, Daniel would wake Ashton up by striking him with the belt, and would give him a list of chores to do. When Ashton didn't complete them on time, or didn't do them to his fathers expectations, he could expect a beating. All of his bruises from last year had faded, but now he had fresh, new bruises. So fresh in fact that they still hurt. Looking around the Great Hall, Ashton noticed a girl at the Slytherin table who was looking about as miserable as he felt. Ashton walked over and gently laid a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you okay?" he asked softly, not sure is she would tell him to get lost or ask him to stay.

Hogsmeade was so over, why did most of the school make such a big deal when it came to going there. Fine, it was time away from the castle but it was the same shops over and over again. How many times could one visit Honeydukes? She rolled her eyes as she began to stretch getting up from the comfortable chair she had been sitting in. The common room was dead quiet though and that was good, but she was bored now soshe thought that perhaps she'd go get something to eat.
Upon entering she zoomed in directly at her table and noticed Vanessa sitting there looking completely miserable. She wondered what was wrong and was walking over to ask when someone got there first. She knew right away he wasn't a Slytherin in fact if she wasn't mistaken he was a Ravenclaw. Her jaw clenched automatically as she stared at him. Her mind racing as she wondered what right he thought he had to be at their table. It didn't matter that he was trying to be helpful he still did not belong there.
Angel had to close her eyes because she knew that she was close to causing a scene her temper had flared her face was on the verge of turning red. She had to recite a poem in her head one that normally calmed her. She had to look silly standing there eyes closed but she didn't care it was either that or hex the boy daring to invade Slytherin territory. Once she felt it was safe she opened her eyes once more continuing her walk to Vanessa. Sitting down across the girl, trying not to be completely rude she smiled at the boy. It was a bit forced but at least she had put forth the effort. Then looking to V she asked.
'Whatever it is you can't let it get to you like this. Do you wanna talk about it? May make you feel better.'
She hated to see one of her own down.

Ashton looked up when another girl arrived, this one didn't look too pleased to see him there. "Um, hi. I'm Ashton, I was just talking to your friend here, but...if you want me to leave..." he trailed off biting his bottom lip nervously.

Alessa was at the hufflepuff table and heard the three talking. She saw the boy was in an uncomfortable situation with the slytherin's and decided she'd try and help him out as she saw the Slytherin girl getting really angry. She took a deep breath and got up from the table. "There you are, come and sit with me a minute" she said to the boy, giving him a desperate look. "I need your help with a question on some homework" she continued, hoping the boy would sit next to her and not cause a scene.

Ash stared up in confusion as some random girl ran up and said, "There you are!" like she'd been looking for him. "Uh... okay..." he said as he got up to follow her, or rather as she dragged him off. Once they sat down he turned to her, "Okay, two questions. 1) Who are you? and 2) What in Merlin's name was that all about?"

Alessa puffed a little angrily at him. "Your a Ravenclaw right? You should be clever enough to know that the other Slytherin was about to curse you or something" she said quietly to him, sitting down hard onto the bench. "She was getting really angry before she sat down at the table, she's a troublemaker so I thought i'd save you before you got your head bashed in". "My name's Alessa by the way, and you are?" she added as she flipped a piece of hair away from her face.

Ash scoffed, "I'm not an idiot. I knew she was getting upset. Did I look like I was scared? No, I did not." he glared at the girl, "I don't need someone to charge in and 'rescue' me. I can fight for myself, I'm not a child. And furthermore, if you had been a bit more observant, you would've noticed that I was trying to help someone in need." He stood and stalked off, but not before turning around and saying snidely, "Oh, and I make it a point to not give my name to people after they've pissed me off. I see it as pointless." Then he turned, and disappapeared out of the Great Hall...

Alessa frowned at him. "Fine, good luck getting to the hospital wing when she hurts you" she scowled as she got up and pulled her bag from the bench and stormed out of the great hall.
