Sleep wasn't absolutely necessary. Really, it wasn't. At least not for Chris.
She had attempted to get some sleep, gone to bed promptly at nine so she would have plenty of time in the morning to get ready for her lessons and then head down to breakfast. Her plans of sleep hadn't worked out as well as she anticipated, though, and she was still lying awake in her bed at eleven thirty according to the clock on the wall. She had heard of some people being able to go to sleep by counting sheep or going through the list of Ministry of magic Ministers, a long and tedious list, but Chris found that neither of these things helped. So at eleven forty five she made her way down to the common room, still dressed in her night clothes consisting of emerald silk pajama pants and a black tank top.
The common room was empty as far as she could see, so she sunk down into the good chair close to the last remaining bits of embers. She could see that the house elves had already come by, cleaning up the random odds and ends left by the members of Slytherin House. The common room looked nice cleaned up, and while Chris would have preferred to keep it clean and organized all the time, she knew it would be messy by tomorrow night. She began thinking of ideas on how to con her house-mates into keeping the commons clean when she heard a light tapping of footsteps coming from the dorms. She couldn't quite tell if it was coming from the girls or guys dorms, so she turned her head to see who would be joining her.

It was a person, so to speak, that would be joining her just yet. Instead it was Erys Grace in bengal cat form, her paw pads barely making a noise as they slapped gently against the stone stairs underneath them before pressing in to the carpet of the common room. Sure, morphing wasn't exactly neccessary when it came to sneaking downstairs, but on this particular night the Slytherin wasn't in the mood for drama, and waking up a gaggle of Snake girls' from their beauty sleep was sure to stir up some negative excitement.
Still a little drowsy from the falling in and out of sleep, Erys' senses hadn't kicked in fully, thus she was unsure if anyone else was in the living area either. Stretching her nose to the air for a silent intake of breath, she concluded that someone was in fact down there: Chris. Stretching, the feline slunk over, hopping on a comfy chair opposite to the one her friend, or rather aquaintance, was on. Closing her eyes and concentrating, she shifted back, and soon the human Erys Grace was sitting there cross-legged. "Evening." She yawned with a nod of her head, hiding her gaping mouth with the back of her hand. She hated yawning, it contorted people's faces in to the most grotesquely proportioned expressions. Flicking her eyes around the room, she added, "This place is clean." Her voice appraising, slightly impressed as to the nice nature of the common area, Erys added, "Wont be for long with the twins back, but I think we can get them to keep this place a little better than in the past." Like Chris, she hated a messy room. Everyone would find them snobs - god forbid an outsider slip their way in here - which wouldn't do. You had to keep the reputation of not only yourself when in Slytherin. Anywho.. "How are you?"[/color]

Chris turned her head back to the slow burning embers as she listened to the footprints coming closer. They seemed lighter than that of a males, so Chris anticipated her company to arrive from the girl's dorms. Either that or a young male Slytherin. She finally looked back up to see a cat. She sat opposite of her in another armchair, and turned into Erys.
She looked toward Erys as she spoke to her now, nodded her head lightly. " Evening " Pulling out her wand since she was a little chilly she ignited the fire. She too notice the room and commented on how clean it was. "I know I hope it stays this way, because there is nothing worst than a sloppy Slytherin." Chris looked back into the fire.
Out stretched on the sofa with a green blanket over her. She felt comfortable. The common room lit up with green embers from the fire which was so pretty to her. Listening to the crackle of the fire she turned to speak to Erys, " I'm good, really can't sleep." she sighed wishing she was able to sleep. "How about you?"

Markus had taken it upon himself to have a little midnight walk around the castle. He was sneaky and had managed to sneak past a teacher and a prefect in the first half an hour. The thrill of getting caught was fun and all, but it was boring when you were on your own and was giggling to yourself.
As a second teacher walked past with Lumos at the end of his wand, he hid behind a pillar and snickered to himself as the teacher rounded around the corner and out of sight. Getting bored of playing by himself, he decided he'd go back to the common room and maybe find something to do there. This place was boring compared to Durmstrang.
Walking down the stone steps to the common room, he heard voices and thought it was a little strange seems as though it was midnight. Opening the door, he noticed two girls chatting to one another. Letting the door fall back after himself, he walked in and took a seat opposite both girls.
"Are you bored too?"

A hiss, then a loud meow, and a cat curled up on the floor after trying to jump on a bed too high for her. These are the sounds that had Angelique Juliette awake at this time of night. Turning to her right she looked down to find Zara on the floor looking up at her with sad, guilty eyes. Angel knew that the cat was still too small to jump on the bed which was why Zara had her own little cat bed next to her on the floor, but like a true Slytherin Kitten Zara wanted to go where she wanted to go but unfortunately for her she couldn't yet reach. Angel picked up her kitten with one hand "Erys knew you'd be a handful" she said giggling looking toward Erys' bed to see if she had been woken by the noise, but there was nobody there. Curious to know where her friend got to Angel let Zara lay on the bed while she got out to go look for Erys.
Wandering the corridor she moved closer to the common room and soon heard voices. Was there a party she wasn't aware of she wondered while making her way. Finally, emerging she caught sight of three people Chris a newer girl she hadn't had the pleasure of really meeting yet, Erys always in the thick things, and Markus. "Ah so this is what goes on when the rest of us go to sleep" she said jokingly moving further into the room "so what's going on here?"

The room grew quiet after that, it was a weird silence at first but Chris grew a little more comfortable in it as she stared at the fire, wishing she could sleep. She probably would have fallen asleep if it wasn't for the new arrivals in the common room.
The first new arrival was Markus, which Chris just saw around school never really talked to him before. He sat opposite to Chris and Erys saying "Are you bored too?" Chris just looked up at him and said "Yeah sort of I just really couldn't sleep. Why are you up?" Chris asked with a curious tone. But she pretty much knew what he was up to she just wanted to start a conversation.
Sitting there talking to Markus another arrival showed up, Angelique. Chris really didn't know her also but saw her around school too. Chris looked toward the door and saw her move in closer toward the group. She too spoke first, "Ah so this is what goes on when the rest of us go to sleep" .... "so what's going on here?" Chris decided to speak up once again, " Well nothing really just a little chat between house mates, I really couldn't sleep." Chris said is a lazy tired tone.
