The sun was high in the sky and Steven was for some reason found himself in the middle of the school grounds. This was not his territory seeing as he was the caretaker, he stuck to the corridors while the grounds man wondered by the lake and through the forest. Steven never went to the staff table for food, in his eyes he was not staff but just the cleaner, so instead he always went down to the kitchen feeling much more at home with the house elves, and on many occasions he convinced them to let him help them out. Today was one of those days.
He had eaten his own fair share of food and so offered to help clean up the dishes and bowls from the students meals. So with rolled up sleeves and bubbles in his hair Steven carried a collection of dishes across the kitchen only to stop in his tracks when he came face to face with another person. The stack of dishes began to sway dangerously and with wide eyes full of horror Steven watched as the top dish slipped and fell to the floor.

Erika had been in the kitchen for the most part of the day talking to the house elves and snacking on the delicious food they made. She stood up to go ask an elf where she could find some brownies when she saw a man carrying a stack of dishes, and walking towards her, the man appeared to be surprised and the stack began to sway. The man's eyes widened in horror as the top plate slid off the stack. With her lightning fast reflexes, Erika snatched the plate out of midair. Smiling she put the plate back on the stack, and took half the stack into her arms. "You look like you could use some help!"

Steven looked down at the girl as she caught the plate, he let out a sigh of relief and managed to summon a weak smile to offer her and when she took some of the plates off him Steven could not help but let his smile grow wider.
“Th-thank you miss. I bet the house elves would not be to ‘appy if I smashed their bloody plates.”
With a weak laugh and trying to avoid the glares he was getting from some of the other house elves Steven carried on walking to the cupboard where the plates went. Sliding them onto the sideboard he then bent down and opened the cupboard doors and placed the plates in them. He left the door open and stepped to one side and left the door open so the Gryffindor could put the plates in after him.
"Thank you again miss...great help!"
