“Get down here you bloody bird!”
Alys scowled up at her family’s bird, her lips pulled back over her teeth into a frightful grimace. The damn thing wouldn’t come down. Honestly, it was taunting her, just sitting up in those rafters. It even puffed up its feathers in an almost dominant way. Oh, that owl was going to get it. She could use any other one, but no, her mother specifically requested she used the one that she bought for her.
Yea, too bad that the thing was terrible beyond all belief and didn’t listen to anyone but her mother, the evil little witch must’ve planned that. Alys wouldn’t put it past her. She placed both of her hands on her hips, glaring up at the owl. “You know what, fine. See if I bloody care. It’ll be your arse on the line though when mum doesn’t get her letter.” Was she crazy, or was the thing snickering at her? With once last hmph, she turned around and stalked out of the owlery.
It was easy to say that little escapade didn’t really help her mood for today. But, the only show of her annoyance could be seen in the fast paced way she moved through the corridors. Besides that, her face was basically wiped clean of any emotion. Once students found out that you were angry, they tended to pry and pry until they found out what was bothering you. It was annoying to no end, and never really helped anyone’s mood. Plus, she didn’t want to bite anyone’s head off today, too much effort.
She was headed toward the common room, ready to just go up to her room and try to forget about her troubles by being engrossed in one of her books. She turned another corner, huffing in annoyance. The common room entrance was in sight at least. She glanced up from her furious walk, and as soon as she did her foot caught on some fabric. The thing tipped her off balance and Alys was sent tumbling onto the ground. Her arms shot out and she quickly caught herself. Her palms were red and sore though, from catching herself on the ground.
Jerking up, she whirled around and sent a glare to the person who had so stupidly tripped her. She clenched her jaw and sent and icy glare in the girl’s direction, but said nothing. Her anger was radiating enough from her expression.
