Today, during breakfast, a letter had fallen onto Alys’s tiny lap. Nobody else really noticed, which was surprising because you’d think when an owl swooped down and dropped a letter in a girl’s lap, someone would’ve noticed. But, that was getting off topic. The appearance of the letter had startled her, and at first she thought it was Will, which would certainly brighten her day. But the handwriting was all too familiar. It was the elegant curl of her mother’s letters, mocking her on the very envelope that concealed more insolent letters written by her none-too loving mother. Oh joy.
She waited until she had gotten back to the common room to open the letter. It was really annoying to have peeping toms all over the place. Honestly, couldn’t they mind their own bloody business every now and again? Their lives couldn’t be so boring that they had to rely on others torture to get their kicks. Hmph, annoying little prats. Alys slid into the common room silently, pleased to find that it was empty. Of course it was, she had left breakfast early. It wasn’t like she really ate a lot during then anyway. That had to be the worst meal of the day.
Alys tore open the letter, not caring if the paper inside ripped. She actually hoped for it, and then she would have an excuse not to read it. Unfortunately for her, it didn’t. Quickly, Alys unfolded the letter, grimacing as she did. She held the letter by the edges, with only the tips of her fingers, as if the thing burned her. It might as well of, the way she was reacting to it. Letters from her mother were never good. Last time, she had to be dragged home to meet some powerful family so maybe she could catch the eye of the son. Haha, no.
The pale girl scanned the letter quickly, her mouth set into a tight frown. “Maybe I’d actually believed she cared if she wrote these letters less like it was for business.” She tossed the letter and envelope quickly into the fire and turned on her heels. Alys walked out the common room door without another word. Sliding past students in the halls and walking quickly down the stairs landed her in, well, she wasn’t really sure. It was a corridor, that was for sure, but where was she?
A line of suits of armor lined the path, and Alys walked down it, semi-curiously. Her rage was forgotten for the moment, in her bafflement of the armor. The child-like innocence of her face was even more prominent in her wonder. With a light touch, she reached out and brushed the armor with her finger tips. The metal burned her fingers, and she recoiled away from it. Well, that was odd.
Something shifted behind her, and Alys whirled around. The other line of suits had shifted, so all of their axes were now pointing at her. Pale eyes narrowed in response, and her lips pressed into a tight line. Long, pale fingers curled around her wand as she slowly raised it up to meet the challenge. “Try me.”

Noah watched the display curiously. He'd never seen the armour act in such a way before - they ordinarily were unbearably still - and he found their active limbs quite enjoyable.
Closing the door to a random room where he'd challenged a few house-elfs to a game of checkers, as chess usually sent their minds reeling, Noah quietly walked over to Alys until he was right behind her.
Leaning forward, he steadied one hand on her shoulder while smirking against the opposite ear.
"Boo."
Of course, he had no idea how the Slytherin would react. Noah dropped his hands after his little streak of fun and took a step back in case she had a temper. His eyes danced with excitement, and even the armour seemed to have calmed down, slowly disengaging to crawl to their former positions.
"They looked like they were going try you alright, Morach," He said amiably, roughing a hand through his hair and glancing around at the other knights who were slinking away, then turning back to her with a grin.

Noah watched the girl's abandoned armour pick itself up from the floor and, before it could leave, he reached out a hand and caught its helmet. It was still distracted and tired from Tallie's escapade, and Noah grinned as he easily pried the object from the body.
Dropping his new trinket to the floor with a loud crash, Noah settled down in between the other two and crossed his legs using his hands for leverage to keep comfortable. After a moment, he swiped the helmet into his left fist, and smiled crookedly at the newcomer whilst swinging it around. "Think I'll get into loads of trouble if I stash this away in my dormitory?"
He glanced back at Alys as if sizing up her personality with just a look. Tilting his head to one side, he tossed the helmet from one hand to the other, measuring how heavy it was. "Perhaps they're growing restless - need another princess to save." Leaning forward, Noah grinned and slipped the armour over his head. "Interested in that position at all?"
