Adam stood looking out at the lake. He had never been happier, he was almost done with school, and in few days he was going to ask the love of his life, Lidia Cullen to marry him. Life was perfect. Throwing back his head, he spread his arms and let out a shout of laughter. A laugh of pure happiness. Looking up at the sky, Adam felt as if he could fly. Of course since he couldn't, he spun around until he was so dizzy that he fell to the ground. Collapsing onto the soft, sunwarmed grass, Adam lay there staring up at the blue sky, and laughing for sheer joy.

What better way to spend her day then down at the lake sunning herself? Well given her present state of mind, one of pure distraction, there was much better things to do, having time to simply lie down and dwell over her tiny problems only made them seem huge, they expanded into colossal giants before her eyes, like mountains breaking the ground and rearing up into the air, striving to feel the cooling clouds.
so though she loved hanging about with her fellow Ravenclaw friends she found the lack of actual talking rather boring, they either had their nose immersed in their books or simply gazed happily at the shimmering lake surface, normally Vicky could be so easily distracted but today it just didn't happen, her mind drifted unhappily rather than gaily towards thoughts of relationships, over the summer she had tried unsuccessfully to date a guy. Suffice to say it had ended in tears and not his evidently. He just hadn't been right, that had been her excuse the one she continually used but found herself relying heavily upon.
He'd been a relatively kind guy, not overly affectionate as some could be, to the point of seeming desperate,, but not pure evil like others. Yet still he hadn't been right, not the one, if there was really such thing. "I mean who is the one?" She murmured absently to herself. as somebody's pitying gaze fell upon her the inevitable question bursting from their lips Vicky silenced it by adding "You wouldn't understand," as they really never seemed to.
Deciding walking would perhaps help clear her muddled thoughts Vicky stood bidding her friends adieu and following the curvature of the lake.
Slowly making her way around her mind wandered once again pondering upon quite when she would find that perfect guy, until she saw a lad in complete blissful unawareness, "what are you so happy about?" She quiered almost sullenly before she realised the comment had passed her lips.
"Oh I mean, is there like..er a reason for being so happy?" She hadn'tmeant to spring up a random conversation prefering rathermore to talk to someone she actually knew, liek Heidi, whom she could trust completely, I mean who was this guy?

Adam was snapped out of his musings by a voice. He looked up to see a Ravenclaw girl, who didn't look top happy. Adam gave her one of his dazzling smiles. "What isn't there to be happy about?" he asked simply. " It's a gorgeous day out here, I'm almost done with school, and I'm in love with the most beautiful girl on earth. And in a few days, I'm going to ask her to marry me. So in my opinion, life couldn't get much better." He frowned sympathetically, "Are you okay? You don't seem very happy."

Vicky laughed at the boy's rather infectious enthusiasm, he seemed really genuine, quite probably in both joy and anger he'd show it as equally. At the minute he was over the moon, but would he always be she couldn't help but be a tad pessimistic about that, though she wished him the best of luck in his seemingly perfect future.
"You're not very clever are you?" She said pointedly breaking into a smile, "meaning you shouldn't really say someone else is the most beautiful girl if you wanted to buoy my spirits."
Grinning she added just to prove her point, "gorgeous day it may be and school may finish soon, something I personnally am not looking forward to, but I haven't got what I yearn for yet, which I know sounds dead selfish, but still nobody else will look out for me will they? Look after number one that's what I've always been told." Standing with hands upon hips she realised she'd adopted her lecturing tone, which wasn't exactly very nice of her to do and his giving a very radiant smile didn't help her perking guilt, if he was nice he'd forgive her though, she hoped.
"Sorry," she lamented gracefully seating herself upon the grass, "I've been having an off day," she explained "thanks for enquiring and all, is it really that obvious?" She asked brow creasing into a frown.
"I'd kinda prefer not to dwell on it I suppose, but wait you're going to ask someone to marry you?" She asked incredulously eyes widening in surprise, "aren't you a little...well...young, no offense, to be like tied down so early. Have you really found true love?" She asked disregarding the fact that she was being incredibly nosey.
"Who is she? Are you really going to ask her to marry you? Is she really beautiful?" She fired her barrage of questions her curiousity taking over. She half wanted to ask is she prettier than me, but feared he'd simply say yes as he was so infatuated, and she didn't even know him. Feeling the beginnings of a blush she added hastily "err sorry for being so nosey." She pointedly looked away at the lake kind of hoping he'd accept the apology gracefully and move on, but she really had been prying.

Adam laughed. "No it's okay. I don't think you're being nosey at all! Yes, I am asking someone to marry me. I am young, but so is she. Her name is Lidia Cullen, and she's the most beautiful girl, I've ever seen." He sighed, and smiled happily. "We met at the Tournament Ball, last term, and we came out here to the lake, around midnight. So when I propose I'm going to propose here at the lake, at midnight. It'll be just like the night we met. Except even better."

Regarding this boy, for he still seemed a bioy to her no matter how adult he might act he just didn't look old enough to be married, quite frankly she looked him up and down, her eyes keenly noticed his muscular body and stout jaw line, though he was handsome undoubtedly he didn't immediately attracted her undivided attention, so she was unlikely to lapse into flirting by mistake, which meant she could relax much more.
"Oh good," she remarked glad he wasn't in any way annoyed with her, and glad too that he seemed pretty open about his love. "You've done it again," she teased unknowingly "you really shouldn't say another girl is the most beautiful ever in front of another, they could get jealous. True we're nowhere near as terrible as guys for jealously and we can more easily hide it, but saying that you being so open about how pretty she is, is dead cute and I'm happy for the two of you."
Grinning she theatrically gasped for meeting someone at a ball was too much like a fairytale, and she loved it, "you met at the ball? Oh wow, that's amazing, who made the first move, you did dance together didn't you?" A faroff vacant expression was evident momentarily as she pictured this young man with the most beautiful woman ever. "Wow," she breathed. "I love the way you're going to propose, it's really romantic and I'm certain she'll fall over herself saying yes...not that I would or anything, meh you know what I mean." Grinning she asked, "S you're dead certain she'll say yes then? I mean being told no would break your heart wouldn't it?"
A soft glow came into her eyes, she'd hate for something so terrible to befall anyone, but this guy seemed decent enough from first impressions, he must be pretty confident she'd say yes or else he wouldn't dare would he?

Adam laughed, "Well, I guess I'll have to be careful about who I say that around won't I? I'm sure she'll say yes. Society might not think we're ready, but the way I see it, if love is strong enough, then it doesn't matter what people say. All I want is for my Lidia to be happy."

Quite amazed by his strength of feeling towards the girl he loved so dearly Vicky felt the first stabs of guilt; why didn't she have such a powerful relationship, one that wasn't afraid to go against society's conventions? Her look turned slightly sour as she witnessed his passionate response, "woah," she breathed, "you're completely smitten."
"I'd be careful if I were you, but I don;t know the ins and outs of your relationship, so who am I to judge?" She spoke rhetorically pondering over the question herself.
"I really hope I find such powerful love that you hold for her." Vicky stated with pangs of sorrow creeping up upon her. "I'll admit it, I'm envious of that," she spoke sincerly locking eye contact the fierceness of her own sincerity of emotion becoming clear, tears threatening to water her eyes.
"I r..really hope..you're happy," she said her voice quavering with trying to withold her tears. "I've got to go." She murmured rising abruptly and giving him a weak wave, "err see you around sometime maybe." She couldn't stand being ablout somebody who was nearly inssuferably happy, for she desired that happiness too and it pained her that she didn't have it. She rose unsteadily and turned away towards the lake about to make her escape.
If he were any sort of gentleman he'd see what was wrong and be understanding...but would he, he might be too enraptured with Lidia.

Adam frowned slightly. He hadn't meant to make her upset. Jumping up, he ran after her. "Wait!!" he called. Once he reached her, he laid a hand on her shouder. "What's wrong?" he asked, his voice soft with concern. "You wanna talk about it?"

As hoped for and almost even expected the lad came to her aid, he jumped up like a shot and arrested her retreat. Flinching at his touch Vicky pulled away wheeling about to face him and asking poingnantly "what good will that do? You're in love you'll just say it'll come to you someday soon, but you've got it, it's ok for you." Vicky's voice no longer quavered though the look of anguish and the hurt in her eyes was plain, instead her voice remained intent and forceful.
"So really whoever you actually are, I don't think you're the person to talk to about it. Sorry but I don't believe you can possibly understand, you're a lad too which doesn't help, no matter how kind and helpful you are."
Though his voice had been soothing and gentle, it didn't do the trick as she wanted that for real not somebody elses pity, which she couldn't help but feel that it would be if she took the time to explain properly.
"Go to the girl you love, spend every precious moment with her," she said softly understanding dawning in her eyes. "Now you've found your love cling onto it, you have to." She beseeched the boy who she still didn't know the name of, but names hardly mattered, only what they did mattered.

Adam staggered back, shocked by the girl's semi-harsh words. Shock and hurt filled his face, before he lowered his head and said softly, "Um, maybe I should just go and leave you alone." Adam skirted around the girl, and started back up to the castle. He glanced back briefly, and gave the girl a small, sad smile. "I'm sorry. I really am." he said, then he was gone.

Struck pretty dumb as the boy fled, she didn't even know his name she realised with a sinking feeling, she knew she;'d been the one to push him away when he'd only tried to help. Perhaps she'd been hasty and harsh, but she'd really expected him to stick around a little longer, though his heart was clearly for another she'd thought he'd still spend moments with others.
"Oh err...ok," she mumbled half hoping he didn't hear her murmurings. Staring after him with a forlorn expression she made certain she didn't cry, she'd have tobe strong and face much worse situations than that in her life, but still.
His last words rang in her ears and she brought a hand to her eyes, he pitied her completely; how demoralising. Least that was the way she felt. "Eugh," she grumbled " no wonder he pities me, pull yourself together girl," she lectured herself oblivious to the looks shot her way. Breathing a ragged deep breath she looked out once at the lake then set off towards her dorms, going to choose a route he wouldn't take perhaps.
