It had been a long few months and Alex had even missed Valentines Day because he had too much to get done. It was one of the days he was looking forward too, but of course being an Apprentice meant he had to put his work before Holidays such as those. Alex had a stack of books in his arms and papers balancing on top which had to be gone through by his next lesson. He had no intention of failing his apprentiship but he had no idea how hard it would be and how much hard work he had to put in. The students all moaned about their work and classes, how Alex would love to throw them into the wall sometimes and yell at them until he could literally yell no more. They had no idea how easy they got it. Even when Alex thought he would have a minute to himself he found someone else wanting help, or wanting an essay looked over or something similiar. He was highly stressed, rather exhausted and would kill for a decent nights sleep. He kept on telling himself it would get better and easier, but it only seemed to get harder and harder. The work load becoming heavier and heavier.
Not only that, but to support himself, he had taken a part time job in Hogsmeade, a small run down shop that got hardly any customers, yet even they worked Alex as though they were the busiest. Alex got roughly three hours sleep a night these days if he was lucky. And that was a major 'if'. He was also continuing his own studies, as well as apprentishipping and working. The days were flying by he was so busy and the carefree Alexander Doyle the people knew seemed to have died and been replaced by a moody, serious and highly irritable Alex. He didnt much like this change in himself but what could he do? He was a busy guy and he couldnt have distractions. He didnt have time for himself let alone anyone else, he hadnt even been able to spend time with Girty, which obviously did not improve his mood. Even less was the fact Steph kept on saying to him things like, 'I told you it wouldnt work', or 'She clearly sees work more important than you.' Steph had been the first Alex had stressed at, and now she refused to talk to him, which oddly enough, didnt bother Alex in the slightest. Girt would be happy about that.
He had managed to find the time to write a few letters home, but that was about it. In fact the last time he could remember relaxing was when they were all laughing down the pub rather drunkernly. That was definatly a memory Alex would take with him wherever he went, even if Max had kissed both Alex and his girlfriend Girty. Of course, later on Alex found out Max was attracted to girls, and jokingly he teased Max saying Girty had shown him the light, the wonder and the beauty of girls. Of course Max has flushed and almost sped off. Another thing Alex had found rather strange, did Max have a... Nah.
"Oi!" Alex yelled as a first year clumsily walked into him, "You werent given eyes so you couldnt use them you know! Watch where you're bloody going!"
"I-I-I'm s-s-sorry Alex" Stammered the first year, picking up the book and the pile of papers that fell out of Alex's arms and placed them back.
"Well dont run in the corridors and you wont be so clumsy would you," Alex seethed, as if he wasnt in a bad enough mood already, "Now scram."
Alex wasnt known for being nasty, especially to the younger years as he usually went out of his way to make sure they were alright, though right now all he cared about was getting to the library and finishing these papers he had to write, preferably before he had to go to work later on tonight. He would more than likely feel bad about the way he spoke to the boy and seek him out to apologize when he had calmed down and had chance to think about it. Though, on his mind right now was these books, the papers and his job. All of which were on the brink of falling, and as if right on cue, someone else walked into him, decidedly harder than the previous which sent the books and the papers flying from Alex's arms and sent him stumbling backwards towards the wall where he banged his head quite hard.
"Do you lot find it hard to use your eyesight or something?" He scolded rubbing the back of his head which was throbbing rather painfully, "Seriously I do not think I have ever--" He turned to look at his collidee and was surprised on who was before him. His mouth dropped open as his hand dropped from his head to his side, "Girty?" He asked, unsure whether it was her or if the bang on his head had somehow confused him into thinking it was Girty when it was someone else. "I... Sorry?"
