Helen flipped the page, starting the next chapter. How interesting this book was! But how on Earth could Mary be such an idiot? It was obvious that Henry was falling for her!
"But no! Mary continues to be oblivious to the whole romance signs. Only a person truely stupid could ignore him!" Helen slammed the book closed and threw it at the wall, scaring several students. Many of them gave her 'the look' that she received, unfortuantly, a lot. And, once again, Helen ignored them.
Letting out a large sigh, she picked up the book, dusted it off, and continued where she left off. Books were the cause of many tantrums for Helen. The worst part was they usually occured in public places and not in the safety of her own dorm. One would think she could control these outburts, but that was not the case.
Helen held the book in one hand and traced the banister with the other, letting her long fingers glide along the stone.

It was so quiet..too quiet. Felicity remained tensed as she walked down the corridor, taking glances around every so often. Someone was bound to use something to trip her..or prank her..or push her down the stairs or something. Or, maybe it was another one of those ploys that some of the men at the school used to ask her out. They got more interesting as the years went on.
The silence was easily broken by someone's ranting. Fay turned another corner and saw Helen Tiani yelling at her book, then chucking the poor thing at the wall. The veela girl blinked, not fully understanding what just happened. Did Helen just..scold her book? And what was with this Henry and Mary thing? Maybe characters in the story.
Skipping up behind her, Felicity placed her chin on Helen's shoulder and peered at her book. "Either it's so good that you just had to pick it up again or it's so bad that you just had to finish it because you already started. Which is it?" She moved so she was walking next to Helen, instead of hovering over her shoulder. "By your little display, I would say it's bordering on the bad side."

Jac had found yet another book by one of her favourite authors and she was walking through the corridor's aimlessly, reading yet another enthralling book about the mysteries that hid beneath the ground. It was a different direction for this author but Jac liked it. It was daring and Jac loved daring. Fearless little metamorphmagus thrived on daring and gall to be different from everyone else and always who she was.
As she rounded a corner the all too familiar sound of a book hitting a wall echoed down the corridor. Jac's interest and curiosity perked up and she lifted her head from her book, her feet still carrying her forward. She held her thick book at the top, her finger between two pages where she was reading. A Voice carried to her down the corridor and as she rounded yet another corner she spotted two Claws.
Walking up to them with a smile on her face, Jac chuckled. "So you're the one throwing books about then?" Jac posed as she smiled at the Claw she didn't know. Jac had not officially had a conversation with Felicity but she did know who the Claw was. So Jac looked to the other, the thinner, paler girl ... if that was at all possible. Jac, with her fiery all red hair (for today) and her shortness felt so very different from the two Claws who were both tall, pale skinned and dark haired. It amused Jac a little, hence the smile.

Helen jumped at the feeling of something on her shoulder, only relaxing as she realized it was Felicity Locke. Shaking her head at the question, Helen replied, "No, you're wrong. It's very good, actually. It's just the characters get on my nerves sometimes. My mother wrote this and she was hoping I could offer some advice. She believes in my ideas, which I greatly appreciate."
Another voice reached her and she turned, seeing a fiery-looking Gryffindor. Helen smiled "Yes, unfortunately, I am the one throwing the books." The book the girl was holding caught her eye. "What book is that?"
(short, so sorry!)

Felicity laughed at Helen's response. The same thing had gotten on her nerves scores of times. Stupid characters that just irked someone to no end. But, the book was so good that somehow, everyone just got past the idiocy of some characters.
"Your mother is a writer? That's completely wicked!" Fay spun around so she was facing Helen now, and her hands grabbed her shoulders lightly. "I simply must meet her now! And read some of her work. I might not be as big of a bookworm as you, but I still love a good story."
Someone else spoke, and Felicity turned to see who it was. Well, none other than Jac Biggerstall. Fay felt a smile tug at the corners of her lips as she noted the fiery-red haired morph make her way over to them. They knew each other, of course, but a serious conversation had never been spoken between the two.
"Hey Jac." Fay layed one arm across Helen's shoulders and smirked. "Yea, our own little bookworm was getting a little violent with the characters. I think she taught them a lesson now though." She laughed and stuck her tongue out at Helen in a joking manner.

Jac heard mention that the Claw she didn't know's mother was a writer. Jac's face brightened and she smiled widely. "No kidding," the small Gryff chuckled. "My mom writes too but nothing published yet. My brother, Ed's the one with all the publications." Jac rolled her eyes remember that Ed had sent her yet another one of his Care of Magical Creatures Hand Guides a week ago and she still hadn't read it. She felt bad but this new book had caught her so entirely that she couldn't read anything else.
"Hey Lici," Jac greeted the other ... other Claw. She snickered to herself softly but continued to smile at the two. "Been keeping alright?" Jac had always liked the look of young Felicity Locke. She seemed to be a very friendly, fun loving girl that Jac would get along with swimmingly. But through whatever circumstances they never came together. Jac shrugged inwardly thinking that that was the way of life and school. You couldn't be friends with everyone.
Jac lifted the book in her hand. "What this?" Jac said before lowering it again. "It's a really good book. It's a murder mystery, detective romance neo-noir story. Very interesting. Totally new for this writer and it so suits her but it's a rather an old release so I know she didn't stick with it. Pity really." Jac looked down at the other Claw's book and lightened up, smiling. "What's your book about?"

A look of surprise flashed across Helen's face. Never had someone wanted to meet a member of her family. Quickly recovering herself, she said, "Of course you can meet her. She would be delighted! I'll send Mother a letter saying she already has some orders for books." Laughing at Felicity's comment, Helen stuck her tongue back out at Fay.
A murder mystery, detective romance neo-noir story? How interesting. The word 'romance' caught her attention right away. Oh, how she did love a good romance story. But this sounded like a new twist for her. Maybe she should give it a try? She'd better ask the newly-dubbed 'Jac'. "After you're done with that book, would you mind if I gave it a try? It would be different for me, but hey, I might as well try something new. Step out of my comfort zone for a little bit." Helen smiled, but quickly frowned.
"I'm so sorry! I forgot to introduce myself. Usually I remember...well, actually not really. I forget all the time, unfortunately. But that's not the point." Helen extended a thin, pale arm and held out a hand. "I'm Helen Tiani, 6th year, Ravenclaw. Pleasure to meet you."

Felicity crossed her arms across her chest and huffed. "Nobody tells me things anymore. Both of you have a writer mother and you didn't even think to lend me a copy? How rude." She stuck her lower lip out in a pout and flashed the two her 'puppy dog' eyes.
"Murder Mystery? Sounds enchanting. I so call it after Helen!" She waved her hand in the air for a moment and grinned. "And I've been alright, staying out of trouble as usual." Fay snickered at her own response. "How about you?"
Fay rolled her eyes a bit at Helen as she began to babble. The Ravenclaw bookworm was so funny when she was nervous. "And you already know me, as does more than half of the school." Felicity grinned and chuckled. "Felicity Locke at your service chums." She gave a bow then popped back up within seconds.

The two Claws clearly knew each other. They spoke as though they were old friends. It was always fun to watch people who knew each other well chatter and make fun of each other. Jac couldn't help but smile broadly at the two of them, knowing that she often did the same silly things and said similar silly things when she was with Girty or Grace or Leon even.
Her book became the centre of the conversation next and Jac smiled. It was nice to see that her eclectic taste in books was appreciated by people who she perceived to be more normal then herself. Then on top of that both the Claws wanted to read it. Jac's smile widened into a grin. "Sure," she said, looking from Felicity to Helen, "no problem. I'll be finished tomorrow so I'll give it to you at breakfast tomorrow." She said this last smiling at Helen. "And then you can just give it to Lici when you're done."
As the other Claw began to babble, Jac's smile shrunk and was replaced with a bemused frown. She gathered that the girl was working up to an introduction but it was mighty fun watching her do it. Jac winked at Felicity at her little jest. Taking Helen's hand in her own small one, Jac shook it with fervor. "Jac Biggerstall, Gryffindor Seventh Year, pleasure's all mine." It wasn't every day that she got to introduce herself, knowing so many people as it was, but she did so enjoy doing it and did so with a smile.
