A streak of sunlight wedged through the numerous clouds dotting the sky making Edward squint uneasily as he pulled off his shoes. Leaning an arm on a glassy rock for balance, he then pulled off each of his socks and tossed them to the side.
His face was grim as he rolled up his sleeves to his knitted green jumper and cautiously made his way to the shore of the lake. Seaweed twisted merrily beneath the waves while rocks jabbed at the soles of his feet, and Edward suppressed a shiver when the cold water swept over his toes.
He had foiled his latest potion assignment and it had, regrettably, used up the last of his Duckweed supply. Of course, seeing as how the next Hogsmeade weekend was so extremely far away, he had resigned to fishing for his own from the Lake. They weren't too hard to find, only rare because the vast number of creatures that ate them.
Reaching down into the water with his pale fingers, Edward cringed a bit at the nasty squelch of mud that followed. He found himself, quite readily, cursing potions for perhaps the first time in his life.
It wasn't long before his hair was streaked with dirt, the fault of his annoying habit to rumple his fingers through it, and his knees were also deeply embedded into the weedy mess. He deeply hoped no one would see him as he had made particular efforts to pick an isolated part of the lake. Digging for duckweed in piles of filth wasn't exactly something he wanted to be remembered for. [/color]

There was nothing better than fresh Scottish air. Up at Hogwarts the air seemed much purer than back home in Nottingham. The clouds were attempting to block out the sun, but only a few succeeded. As Bex was in the library studying something about Herbology, at least that's what Lex thought, she decided to go on a walk by the lake. The one place the fresh air hit you best, was out by the lake.
"Bex, it's nice outside, and the smell of these old musty books is getting right up my nose. I'll see you later in the common room" she said rubbing her nose as it itched. Lexie could never understand how Bex could stay in the Library for hours. The smell was so strong and it really got to Lex. She walked out the library and down towards the lawns. She herself had a few assignments to finish, but right now she couldn't concentrate on them.
Opening the door, she felt the texture of ground beneath her feet change from solid to soft. The grass was a little soggy, and the ground was damp, causing slight imprints of her feet in the dirt. Making her way to the edge of the lake, she noticed a boy who seemed to be searching for something in the lake. For a moment she observed him and wondered if he had dropped something in the water. Unsure however, she walked up behind him slightly and raised her eyebrows in amusement as he waded through the mud and sludge. After a moment, and a clearer vision of what the boy was searching for, she realised he was looking for duckweed.
"Potions problem?" she enquired.

After at least an hour of relentless searching, only two bean-shaped weeds sat in Edward's palm. Staring at them rather resignedly, he was surprised to hear a soft rustle in the grass behind him and not all that pleased.
With his muddy fringe hanging in his eyes, halfway obscuring his vision, Edward turned to look behind him at the approaching figure. Tilting his head to see her better, still squinting from what was surely an unhealthy amount of sunlight, Edward managed his best smug look. Considering the circumstances of his wet robes and all around disheveled appearance, he was aware that it didn't amount to much.
"Whatever gave you that idea?" He asked the girl dryly, setting his find on a nearby rock and using a clean patch of his robes to wipe a streak of mud off his cheek. "You Ravenclaws are quick." His arm fell back to his side, leaving his cheek rosy. He supposed his hostile remarks would have to be the sole saviour of his dignity.

Lexie just looked at the boy as he turned around and spoke to her in a rather unimpressed manner. She could tell she was going to have fun with this one! She didn't blame him though, wading through dirt and water for however long was not Lexie's idea of fun, but still, whether he was slytherin or not, she would still be polite.
"Well us Ravenclaws are apparantely known for our intelligence you know, although the idea of it is simply beyond me" she smirked before trudging forward lightly sitting on the rock where he had just placed minimal contents of the lake. Looking down at them for a moment, she poked one and scrunched up her face as a small clump of mud fell off it and rolled down the rock before hitting the ground. Looking back to him, she crossed one leg over the other before placing her overlapped hands onto her knee and slightly swinging her leg on top.
Raising her eyebrows in amusement, she just looked at him for a moment, waiting to see if he said anything else to his witty remarks before she could continue. Showing no signs, she carried on. "So do you want me to help you find some duckweed or are you the stubborn kind?"
