[Lake] Oh the sea air

Her heard turned this way and that way, her lungs expanded and collapsed as she jogged around the lake. Her breath coming out like a fog in the winter air but this didn't damped her spirits it only made her job harder. The adrenaline was pumping through her, so much so that she didn't even realize she had been at it for over an hour. As her arms lifted she caught sight of her watch and took a good look. When she realized how much she had done she decided to stop.

Leaning against a willow tree near the north side of the lake she made sure to catch her breath and stretch before finally relaxing. Sitting down on the cold hard grass Alexis leaned her back against the tree.

The cool air felt good against her warm skin. Closing her eyes she thought of how much had happened over these last years and how she changed. The first time she had seen her school she was in awe of it, thought there could never be anything better. Now it was simply her second home, a place she felt safe and secure. She had grown as did her powers and soon all too soon she would be leaving the place that had come to mean so much.

She was so deep in thought she didn't hear someone approach.

Somehow Brandon had yet again ended up at the Lake. It must of been the thoughts of the Giant Squid in the lake that he thought he saw, but would not believe until he saw it again in all its glory. The lake was like a magnet to him since he had arrived just a little over a week ago. It was much more homey than Durmstrang was anyway. He realised that compared to Hogwarts, Durmstrang was like a jail cell. It was so dingy he didn’t realise Magic schools would be any different.

Walking down the lake’s edge, Brandon didn’t take his eyes off the lake for a second. He was determined to see this squid if it was the last thing he would do. Why the heck was there a giant squid in a school’s grounds anyway? The thought puzzled the Ravenclaw completely. Sighing, he sat down so near the water’s edge that if a large gust of wind came, it would surely knock him into it. Looking around for a moment to find some rocks or something to throw into the lake to throw in, in hope to entice the beast from its watery home, but instead of a stone, he saw a girl exercising instead. Unsure if he should bother her, he hovered between his sitting stance and standing up before deciding to go over.

Walking over, he had a million questions to ask the girl about the squid, and he was unsure of whether she would know any of one them, but it was worth a shot.
“Do youk quids lack?” He paused as soon as he said the entire jumble of words that had tumbled out of his mouth. Well done Brandon, you fool. You’re not exactly showing that you are Ravenclaw material now are you? Idiot.
Clearing his throat as if that would correct his mistake, he looked back at her and gave an apologetic smile.
“I mean, do you know anything about the squid in the lake?”

?Do youk quids lack?? she heard and started to wonder if she was dreaming of a place where people spoke in tongues. Wait, but how could she be dreaming when her eyes were now wide open. So there was someone standing there speaking in tongues. Alexis looked up to find a boy there. She recognized him as one of her own Ravenclaw classmates. He was the transfer from Durmstrang or something like that.

Rumors were flying around about him but Alexis preferred to get to know someone before passing judgment on them. Right now he seemed perfectly alright she didn't understand what he said but that was OK too.

He took some time and relaxed all the while Alexis watched him, her blue eyes never leaving him until he composed himself enough to say what he really meant. He wanted to know about the giant squid. Alexis' head turned toward the spot immediately and she smiled. "Oh the squid, well I'll be honest I don't know much about it. I think we kind of take for granted that it's there really. Most students fear it, others enjoy taunting it, and some think it's sweet and cuddly. I don't mess with it, but it's there I've seen it. If you don't mind me asking what's the fascination?"

Brandon realised people had been whispering behind their hands about him. It was bound to happen, new face on campus and all that, but he didn’t realise that he would be quite this much of a big deal between the students. The ink for the Hogwarts gossip must of been running dry.

The girl’s house was unknown to Brandon. He hated this part where he was unsure what house someone was in, and whether he should know them or not. It felt like now was one of these times, and he had a feeling that she was probably a Ravenclaw that he had overlooked. Her eyes wide from the complete amount of rubbish that had just spilt out from his mouth, he gave a small laugh before flashing her an apologetic look once again. Finally composing himself, and untying his tongue, he gae her a small, friendly smile.

“I’m Brandon Rosenberg. I’m sorry to disturb you with what you were doing.” He apologised first off. It wasn’t the best greeting he’d ever given, what with spilling words out and all, but it wouldn’t be Brandon if he didn’t mess something up!

“So it is real then? Gross. Why the hell is there a giant squid in the school’s lake?”

So far he was fascinating her. A personality like that could easily make a person want to find out all they could about them. There weren't many people around school she would even say that about. Most people she had come across were barely worthy of getting to know.

He was looking at her as if trying to figure out who she was. That's the way it normally was for her. People over looked her a lot. He didn't seem to realize they were in the same house. It didn't effect her much since it happened so often she was used it by now.

He introduced himself to her but Alexis didn't need it since she already knew his name, she chose to leave that part out of the conversation and instead just be the polite girl her parents had always raised her to be. "Nice to meet you Brandon I'm Alexis Heart Ravenclaw too. Seen you around the common room once or twice." That way they didn't have to have an awkward moment by him asking.

He brought up the squid again it seemed to make him wonder out loud why anyone would let something like that in there. "I think he was always there it's his home wouldn't be right to take him from it, just like it wouldn't be right to kick the centaurs out of the forbidden forest. At least that's what i think. Plus she doesn't really bother anyone he's tame unless you bother him." Sticking up for the giant squid who in the world would have thought.
