Alex smiled when Girty began to speak because he knew all to well the sort of feeling she was talking about, heaven knows he had felt it enough times around her to know anyway. He couldnt help but feel as though finally, everything was taking a turn and going alright. He hadnt felt this way in a long time, most of recently he had felt a broken lifeless shadow of himself, but it was his own fault, in a way, Alex should never have let her touch him in the way she did.
Nothing else mattered in the world, the only thing that matter now, was him, and Girty. Though as he was about to answer, he heard Steph's voice ring loud and true, though what she said he didnt understand. He furrowed his brow and looked at Girty, he was confused, how could Steph know this and he didnt? Of course, this only multiplied when Girty squeezed his hand tighter and shuffled over to stand beside Alex.
"What?" Alex asked and looked at her, "Why didnt you tell me?" After what she had just said, had it just slipped her mind, again? He shook his head, they were going round in circles and it was beginning to make the poor lad dizzy. He looked up at Steph, "I didnt sell you out Steph, it wasnt only you going to be by that lake."
He put his other hand on top of Girty's, he didnt know why she hadnt told him about Simon, but he knew that there must have been a good reason for it, still, it would have been nice if she had told him that, afterall, Alex had told her he was going to be by the lake today with Steph. "Stephanie" He said letting go of Girty's hands and walking over to her, putting his hands on her shoulders and giving her the puppy dog eyes he knew she loved and couldnt resist. "I'll be there soon, okay?" He gave her a smile, "I just need to sort this out first, I'm sorry, but I have to put my feelings first for a change," He gave her a sort of older brother kiss on her head and turned back to Girty with a sigh, he decided to sit on the bench, better than to be in the middle of these two girls when they decide to get going.

Girty was trying to remain calm, she lost her temper far too quickly last time and she knew Alex was only going onto the defensive and she did not blame him, she was jealous of Steph and it did not matter how many times Alex told her there was nothing between them Girty always saw Steph as the ex and the girl who had threatened her all those years ago.
In as calm a voice as Girty could manage accompanied with a look of remorse she gazed straight into Alex’s pure eyes getting lost in them for a moment before stating her defence to the accusations that Steph had lay down at her door and more importantly to answer Alex’s question. She could not bare the thought that he could not trust her after all these years and so she wanted to set the record straight, right here, right now and with Steph there to witness it and to shut her up.
“Alex please tell me when would have been the best time in this brief encounter I could have told you I met Simon?” Girty shot a look over at Steph that explained how she left about her, words too strong to even be written. “I am not denying I was with him yesterday...but before you can protest we just went to the pub I…I wanted to see if I could just be friends with him. We have never been so comfortable around each other as she were yesterday, there was no pressure on us to act up and show affection for the other we could be us and it was great...”
But the end of her sentence slowly drowned off and Alex turned his attention to Steph explaining how he was not going for her. If Girty was not feeling as small as the ants scurrying across the floor of the courtyard she would have made some sort of venom filled comment to the Ravenclaw. It seemed that she looked up at the wrong time as well, perfect shot to see Alex kiss Steph on the top of the head, lacking in affection but enough to make Girty want to send a curse in her direction.
Alex moved his way over to the bench were Girty had been originally been sitting and almost as if pulled along by an invisible rope Girty soon followed, but she did not sit down on the bench next to him, but instead directly in front of him, cross legged on the floor. For some reason she felt the need to reassure Alex that he was the one.
“Alex…Simon and I are good friends what we had in the past has gone…it is he future with you I am looking forward to.”

"Yes, Perfect day" She gave Girty a sarcastic smile, "About to get even better"
Steph sighed when Alex said that, how did she know that one was coming. Why couldnt he see this girl was no good for him, he should stick to people like him, Ravenclaws. Why was he so bent up on a Hufflepuff anyway, she'd only go the same way as that brother of hers, and it wasnt a secret what was going on there. With a roll of her eyes, Steph looked at Alex, "I never said there was only going to be me down there," She looked at him as though almost annoyed, "But you didnt agree to it untill I talked you round, So in a way you are selling me out Mr Doyle."
Steph smirked at Girty when she threw her a look, that, if looks could kill, Steph would be floor dead by now. "How about when you started talking?" Steph asked, folding her arms and raising her eyebrows, "If there wasnt anything to hide, why did you hide it, and why are you so bent on explaining now?" Steph looked at Alex and sighed, giving him a look that said, Im only looking out for you.
Steph looked down in a moody kind of way when Alex put his hands on her shoulders, "Soon as in about four hours soon, Alex we know what your soons are like when it comes to her!" She sighed again, "For crying out loud, she wasnt even there for three years! Three whole years Alex." She hissed, "She was too busy playing Hufflepuff-Gal or whatever with those, whoever they were, getting bitten by Werewolves." Steph looked at Alex.
"During those three years who was there when you needed friends?" She asked, "We were. Now after all that, your putting someone who has made you feel like crap for the past few weeks, god Alex I cant even remember the last time I saw you smile" When he spoke about his feelings first, Steph scoffed, "Until they get trampled on"
"And what sort of future is that?" Steph asked, "A future to tend to a hormonal werewolf and raise its cubs whilst trying not to be its meal three nights out of the month"

Girty tried not to react as yet again Steph cut her way into the conversation between her and Alex and then on top of it all to say such a remark. There was no point in arguing aloud as it would get them no where what had been done had been done and Girty really did want to fight with someone over a boy.
Maybe it had been wrong of her not to mention Simon but seeing as her and Alex were not acting normal around each other and Simon being a main part of that reason the Hufflepuff saw it as rubbing salt into an open wound. She could just imagine the conversation now, they had not talked to each other in days and the first she says is ‘Hey Alex I spent all day in Hogsmeade with Simon yesterday.’ and for some strange reason Girty guessed that his response would not be ‘Fantastic, did you have fun?’ (Unless of course it was dripping with sarcasm.) Girty was sure that if Steph had not brought it up she would eventually, maybe even later that day as she planned how she was going to end it with Simon. But seeing as nothing happened between them Girty saw no harm in avoiding that topic till everything had been sorted out with Alex first.
It was then when Steph started bickering with Alex did the traditional werewolf argument suddenly appear. Yes she maybe moody from time to time, and yes around the time of the full moon she is not herself but there had been so many advancements in Elixir making that Girty was sure that something would appear to help her out. But as for now and a full moon close Girty found it impossible t hold her tongue.
“Well then Steph if that is the case and I am this mean, terrible person who is intend on breaking Alex’s heart then that means you are the nicest person to walk this earth.”
Girty gave her a sickly sweet smile while wondering how on earth she was not thumbed this Ravenclaw in the face yet…maybe it was the fact that Girty was convinced Alex would not be very amused if she did.

"Alright alright!" Alex sighed in exhasperation, he could not be bothered with two females bickering around him. Steph was his best friend as so was Girty so he knew he had to be extreamly careful here and not take sides. Though at the same time he couldnt let Steph tell him what to do with his life, if he wanted to spend it with Girty he would do. "I'm sorry Miss McKyle"
Alex looked down at Steph when she lowered her head, he knew what that moody look was like, but it was one that always made him smile. "Stephanie, please" He asked her, the smile fading from his mouth, "I wont be four hours, I told you I need to sort this o--" But Steph cut him off bringing up the years in which he could have used a friend, but Girty didnt know about it, they had drifted apart and Alex hadnt bothered to tell her, it was in the past now anyway and it wasnt something he was going to go through again.
"You were" Alex sighed. He knew he wouldnt get away without answering that question. "You all were, I know that," Alex looked down, he knew he was putting his friends second to Girty, and he knew she had made him feel like crap but he had done it to her too. "She also makes me feel alive Steph, and I thought you of all people would remember that feeling." He looked at her with stern eyes, "I smile all the time, you just dont watch when I do"
"If I want to tend to a hormonal werewolf and raise Alex-cubs, Steph, then its my future" He looked at her sadly, "I have the right to choose my own future, but I dont want to lose you either."
Alex watched as Girty sat infront of him, putting his arms around her shoulders he smiled up at Steph, "All you need to know is, I'm happy, or I will be." He looked down at Girty, "That should be enough"
When Girty snapped Alex let go and stood up, looking at the both of them, "This is getting ridiculous!" He bit at the two of them, "If you two want to nitpick at each other, fine, but do it when I'm not around okay?" Alex sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "I just ask, since you both mean a lot to me, to be civil while your both with me." He looked at them with half cold eyes, "Any other time is nothing to do with me, but I do not want to listen to your cat fights. Now drop it" With that he sat back down on the bench and put his head in his hands, he was losing his temper easily lately and he didnt know why, he figured it was because he was constantly on edge and stressed with the school work.
Lifting his head back up with a smile he said, "Look!" Pointing up he smirked, "Tweety birds!"

There was something about Alex’s words that were reassuring, he may have been losing his temper and being unable to cope with two females who did not like each other and where determined to be the one with the last word. But yet when Girty turned to look at him she could not help but grin, there was something about the softness of his face (even underneath all that stubble) it just made her feel warm inside and that she could just look at him for hours and feel content.
But it seemed that her snide comment to Steph but things on the back foot, again. Alex did have his arms around her and but as soon as the last word rolled off her tongue he removed Girty from his grasp and stood up looking some what disappointed, but their was a fire in his eyes. As he let out his rage Girty watched him loosely and bit her lip, her heart pounding even more and she was finding it hard to keep a small smile from spreading across his face. Alex was so demanding, he was taking authority and putting his foot down on the matter. It was not until he sat back down on the bench looking positively agitate that Girty dared move let alone speak.
“I am sorry Alex.” Girty dropt her head in shame and she could not believe what she was going to say next but it did come from the heart and her want to make Alex happy. “And I am sorry to you as well Steph. It is wrong for me to act in such a way when I hardly know you.”
It was only at the sound of Alex’s voice did Girty raise her head and look at him once again, the smile spreading across her face as soon as she saw the one on Alex’s face. Much like she was before Alex had taken to looking to the sky and watching the birds play in the sky. Shuffling around on the spot Girty’s back was now inline with Alex’s legs, which in turn provided a very nice back rest, then titling her head back she rested it upon his lap and looked up at the sky and the birds, for that sort moment in time she had forgotten all about Steph even being there.

"So you should be Alexander!"
Alex knew as well as Stephanie did, she only ever called him Alexander when she was angry at him, or annoyed. She looked back up at Alex when he assured her he wouldnt be four hours, of course Steffy didnt believe him at all. He might not mean to be four hours, but she was sure as hell burnt he would be.
Stephanie was jealous, she remembered the times when she used to have Alex all to herself, and now she didnt she was resentful about it. "Fine, do what you please." Stephanie said crossing her arms as she looked from him to Girty, "Doesnt matter to me anyway, if you prefer to be here, not having fun well thats your own choice"
"Yes, Alex, I remember that feeling" She said coldly, "It was you that used to make me feel like that, and all of a sudden..." She broke off and looked away, "Well it doesnt matter anymore does it?" She looked back up at him, her eyes cold, "Well you carry on playing happy families with her, when it all goes to the dogs I will be the first one to say I told you so."
"I'll be civil if she will" Steph cut, childish she knew, but she found it hard to even fake a smile for the hufflepuff, let alone be civil to her. Steph looked at Girty when she apologized, she knew it was false, Steph just gave a snort and looked away, she was too proud to even say she was sorry, but she knew if she didnt, she would never hear the end of it off Alex. "Alright" She said, falsly accepting Girty's false apology, "Sorry too, Just protective over him is all" She looked at Girty and tried her hand at a smile, though it was strained she kind of pulled it off.
"Well im leaving" She said to them both, "And you," She poked Alex in the chest, "Better not forget our plans for the summer, or I wont be happy, understand?"

Girty held her tongue; she dared not answer back no matter how much she wanted to snap back at Steph. Alex wanted them to be civil and Girty would do just what Alex wanted. So instead Girty continued to look at the sky trying to pay as little attention as possible to Steph who still standing beside them and still talking to Alex. However when she finally announced that she was leaving Girty could not help but let a smile creep across her face, but then let again the Ravenclaw threw another spanner in the works.
“What?”
Girty’s brow creased with a frown and she scrambled to her feet so that she could get a good look at Alex and ready to hit Steph if the chance arose. The poor Hufflepuff did not know what to think about the fact that her Alex had plans over the summer with…with her! Girty would never stop Alex from seeing his friends and he knew that Alex and Steph were very good friends and she was willing to admit that she was there for him when she was not but the mere concept of them seeing each other over the summer it was too much.
“You…you have plans for the summer?”
Girty’s voice wavered slightly as she started the sentence the imagines of Alex and Steph on holiday together, them lying on a beach together, swimming together, laughing, having fun…being more then just friends. Girty may have been thinking the worse but she knew what Steph was like, she heard the rumours and she did not trust her to be alone with Alex, the thought that they shared a common room drove Girty’s jealousy into over drive.

Alex was about to answer Steph, but she brought up the summer plans, which he had failed to mention to Girty, not because he wanted to hide it from her, but because he had completly forgotten about it. Though if he said this, he would get the biggest yelling at of his life of Steph, but if he admitted it, he would get yelled at off Girty, the only question was, who did he get the yell off?
Taking a deep breath, he gave Steph eyes that clearly said, You are an idiot. Though he knew Steph, she didnt really care what she said, she said what she thought no matter what, it didnt matter who she hurt along the way. "No Steph, I havnt forgotten." He took a deep breath and looked at Girty, he knew saying, It isnt what it sounds like would be dumb considering that people only said that when they were guilty.
He knew Steph was still hurt at the fact Alex had split up with her, but he couldnt change that now, what had happened happened. He put his hands on her arms and looked at her, trying to remember that Girty's eyes were fixated upon them both. "Steph," Though he had no idea what to say after that. He couldnt keep the peace here as much as he wanted to, he knew full well Stephs bitch side came out whenever Girty was around, and he knew Girty's wolf side came out whenever Steph was around, and it was pointless to stand in the way.
Alex turned to see Girty's face which was full of fury. Alex winced and didnt believe for a second this was going to be easily explained. He knew Girty was, well paranoid when it came to Steph. He knew she saw Steph as a threat because she was Alex's ex, and she was still a good friend to him. Though didnt she think for a second that was exactly how he felt about Simon? Why was she allowed to over-react, but he wasnt when it came to Simon? He would never understand.
"Yes." He answered simply and truthfully, how could he lie? He couldnt. It was difficult to not see Steph over the summer as she lived around the corner, and he could tell without looking Steph had a very smug look on her face. "We do."
"Girt," He said looking at her, "She's a friend and we had plans since last novemeber" He told her, he may as well be truthful, even if she didnt like the truth, "Its nothing really, just a few clubs and bars, chilling out, that kind of stuff"

Girty’s heart was pounding so quickly in her chest she did not know what to think, what to say in response to what had happened before her. Her mind was spinning faster then anything and she screamed in her head when Alex went to Steph first, to comfort her first rather then the girl he claimed to love. ‘Calm down’ she kept telling herself, there was no need to be getting this irate over something so small. It was just like the whole thing with her going to Hogsmeade with Simon, the right time to tell one another had not arisen and Girty was sure Alex would have eventually told her, he would have had to seeing as he was going to be spending the whole summer with her…’chilling’
“Well who am I to get in the way of plans made that long ago.”
Girty was looking deep into Alex’s eyes trying to hide the hurt. For some reason she felt rejected even though last November her and Alex saw each other maybe once a week. There was a look of truth in his eyes and she found that almost soothing. Slowly the rage started to die down, the jealousy of Steph was locked away again and Girty knew she had to reassure Alex that she was ok with this, even though she still had a few nagging problems…Steph being the major one and the thought that the two would be drinking alcohol together…alone…
“Well then Alex.” She said with a slight laugh “As long as you can spare a bit of time to spend with me then…then you go out and have some fun.”
Girty offered Alex a small smile which surprisingly she did not have to force. She knew that is she became a jealousies girlfriend…’Wow you called yourself his girlfriend’…she would need to be open to the idea that he would still see Steph and she needed to have faith in him that he would not do anything stupid…he was not Dan Hubbles after all.

((Yes im godmodding Steph, but she's my character so im allowed ))
"I dont mind you getting in the way of anything"
He said this with a cheeky grin, trying to keep things peaceful as he didnt want another episode of the Steph/Girty catfight. He didnt understand why these two girls kept on fighting in his prescence anyway, what on earth had gotten into the two of them? Alex didnt want to bring up Simon, nor did he want to continue the talk on his summer plans. He looked over at Steph, who blew Alex a quick kiss before leaving, which made Alex tilt his head in confusion, Alex just smiled and watch her walk back to the lake. Wondering if this would have any long term effects on their conversation now.
"Girty" He smiled, putting his hands on her shoulders and looking down deep into her eyes, "I can spare more than a bit of time for you," He pulled her to him and planted a kiss on her head, he didnt let her have any say in the matter on it, he wanted to kiss her on her head, so he was jolly well going to.
Alex tried to remain calm, but his heart was hammering, he had come so close to being pushed away, again. He would have to graciously thank Steph for that later and find out what her problem with Girty was. Alex knew Steph didnt like her, he just didnt know why, as far as he knew, the two had never actually spoken more than a few words. Alex sighed and let Girty go, stepping back a bit with a forlorn expression on his face.
"She lives five minutes away from me." Now or never. If he was going to be completley honest with her, now was the time. "So it's easy for us to spend time together, but" He emphasised the word but, "I dont look at her in that way anymore. She's just a friend I have a laugh and a few drinks with, the same with you and Simon." He had said it, he said Simons name with no strain, still didnt mean he wasnt threatened by the rogue because he was, "I wouldnt ask you to give up Simon, not even for me. Dont ask me to lose Steph."

Girty could not help but laugh with Alex when he joked about him not minding her getting in the way of things. She whished she could spend everyday with Alex during the summer, not just because she did not trust him…she did, but out of the want of spending time with him. They had lost so much time over the years and Girty wanted to make up for it now while they still had the chance. This was of course helped by the departure of Steph, although she could not help but think that blowing Alex a kiss was highly inappropriate considering she was standing right here but she would not say anything in fear that it would prolong her unwelcome interruption any longer.
With Steph gone Alex seemed a lot happier to be intimate with Girty and almost straight away pulled her towards him and planting a kiss on her head. Girty wrapped her arms around his waste and rested her head on his chest and listened to the pounding of his heart. It seemed to be beating just as fast as hers was and she found that strangely reassuring and she did not want to let go but Alex seemed to have different ideas. As they stepped away from each other he looked at her and Girty held her breath, she had seen this look before from Alex (though that was five years ago and he was breaking the news to her that her favourite pot plant in Herbology had been dropt by a clumsy first year.)
This news seemed to be just as bad as the death of Claude, the thought that Alex and Steph were almost neighbours and she would be able to see him whenever she liked. For once in her life Girty was lost for words most defiantly when Alex openly compared his relationship with Steph to hers with Simon. Girty’s mouth was dry and she licked her lips as she thought about what Alex had said and contemplated her answer and slowly she nodded her head.
“That’s fine. I would never ask you to break off any friendships you have for me…trust me I am not worth it.” Girty gave a soft laugh and looked at Alex feeling warmth spread through her whole body. “I trust you Alex; no matter how much you try to hide it you have a brain up there somewhere; I know you would never do anything to hurt me and I would never do anything to hurt you.”
Girty was being sincere on what she was saying, every word was the truth and no matter how much it made her burn with jealousy every time he spoke Steph’s name she guessed it was something she would have to get used to and she was slowly coming to the realisation she would do anything for Alex.

He smiled when she laughed, it felt like the pieces were falling back together again, for the first time in a long time, he found him laughing with her, and this was the best feeling he had felt foe eons. Alex put his hands behind his back and looked at her innocently, he knew he had promised Steph he would go down to the lake, but now he didnt want to. He wanted to stay right here, in this moment, with Girty. He ignored all the other nagging feelings he was getting, like, this was nothing special really and she was still with Simon. Though he pushed that all away, he tried to forget right now, that she was still seeing someone, ignorance was bliss in Alex's opinion, and he was more than happy to be ignorant.
"You, my dear" Alex said with a smile, "Are worth anything" 'At least to me you are'.
It seemed strange that they were having a normal conversation, no snaps, no bites, (Though Girty's bite was probably more lethal considering her more animalistic side, which he was sure could be fun in the right cirumstance) no silly little sly comments either. Their friendship seemed to be back on track, though their relationship was only just starting.
"I have a brain?" He asked, and considered saying something else after it, though that would probably say he was nothing more than a hormonal teenager, which he wasnt willing to share with her, at least not yet anyway. "Where? Point me in the direction, I need to find it before anyone else does." He stuck his tongue out at her, Alex had a brain and a damned good one, he just chose not to use it half the time, which infuriated a lot of proffesors.
"I know you wouldnt, Girty" He smiled at her again, "I would rather chop my arm off and feed it to a hungry hippo than hurt you." He was going to say to a bunch of angry hungry werewolves, but then realising Girt was a werewolf, decided she may not like the joke intended.
He smiled again and took his hands from behind him, slowly walking over to her, looking at her in a cheeky way. He then quickly put his arms around her, picked her up and spun her around, though as he put her back down again, his arms stayed behind her back and Alex just smiled down at her. Resisting the urge to run his hand down her cheek like he once did.
"Girt?"
Smile.
"I really do care about you"

Everything felt normal, perfect almost as the two of them stood face to face laughing at each other, teasing one another over silly little things and not taking any offence from what the other said knowing all to well it was done in jest not spite. Everything that had happened only minutes before seemed to be a distant memory at the mere sight of Alex’s charming smile. It was something Girty loved about him, there were other things as well but his smile, it could cheer her up even on the darkest of days.
Another thing that Girty loved about him was that that he knew just what to say to make her feel special and as he spoke saying that she was the only one for him she felt her cheeks flush and she dropt her gaze trying to stop herself from blushing too much. However this was made difficult as Alex carried on in his own charming way and when she raised her head to dare glance at him once again he was poking his tongue out at her. But then yet again he turned serious once more reassuring her that he knew she would never purposely hurt her but that serious never lasted long.
“I thought Hippo’s were vegetarian?”
Girty laughed more to herself then anything, although it was cut off short when Alex started to move towards her. The laugh faded away to nothing and her smile turned into a playful frown as she did not know what Alex was going to do next and she really did not expect him to do what he did next. She felt his arms wrap them selves around her waist and before she knew it her feet where off the floor and as he was spinning her around.
“AAAAALLLLLLEEEEEEXXXXX!”
Girty could not help but shout as he spun her around, it was not a vicious shout, more of a playful scream but what ever you want to call it, it got the attention of many people in the courtyard. It was only when he put her back on the ground did Girty start to laugh properly, and she was more then pleased when he kept his arms around her as she knew as soon as he let go she would fall over backwards out of dizziness. But when he said her name almost in a question Girty looked up to Alex and greeted him with a smile and it grew wider after what he said. Her heart skipped a beat and she wrapped her arms around Alex’s neck and dazed into his eyes.
“I know…and I care for you too.”
Girty was not sure if she should say any more, but she thought that nothing much more was needed to be said. Alex was the single opinion she cared about, if he was happy she was happy and that is all that mattered. As she looked on at Alex she had the sudden urge to kiss him, the moment seemed right they were together, alone (well there were several on lookers) so slowly Girty moved her head closer to his, feeling the warmth of his breath on her face and after a moments hesitation Girty’s lips touched Alex’s.

"Oh"
Alex could have laughed at his own stupidity. If he really had a brain, he didnt show it. He seemed to have completely forgotten that, of course hippopotomooses ((Yes i meant to spell it like that!)) were vegetarians. Of course, try getting Alex to say that word aloud and it didnt work. Yes, Alex had a problem saying vegetarian and unless he cut the word down, it came out vegetablearian.
"I forgot they were," Alex bit his tongue before continuing, "Veg-E-Tarians"
Alex gave a laugh, he really was a walking talking problem sometimes. Though he knew people wouldnt change him, as big headed as that sounds, he knew people loved him the way he was. The happy go lucky, idiotic, charming male that was Alexander Doyle. Object of affection and much annoyance sometimes too, especially to himself. No matter how many times he had stood infront of a mirror practising the word, he could never get it right. There were quite a few words Alex couldnt say and usually tried to avoid them at all costs, he only sounded stupid when he actually tried to say them, so what was the point?
The point was Alex liked being stupid.
He laughed when she yelled his name, though he knew it was a squeal of fun. It had been so long since the two were like this and a good laugh was long over due. Putting her down he looked at her as though he had done nothing as was the most innocent guy in the world. "Yes?" He asked in answer to her yell. Though couldnt hold the seriousness as he burst out laughing. He kept his arms locked around her back and a smile locked on his features as he looked down into her eyes. His locked smile grew wider when she put her arms around his neck, and his heart gave a joyful leap. Hell could open up and swallow the world right now, and Alex wouldnt even notice. He looked next to him at all the onlookers and smirked, "You lot are just jealous her arms arent around you!" With a laugh he turned back to Girty. Moving his face closer to hers, he poked her nose with his, "I care more" He moved his head back and laughed, sticking his tongue out playfully.
Alex saw the look in Girty's eyes, he'd seen that look once before, up on the hill. Just after the first time they kissed. That look, remained in his mind all this time, it was a look he had dreamt about her having on her face for years. He had seen the way she used to look at other guys and used to wish she would look at him like that. He remembered all the times she would tell him she thought that guy was cute, or she really liked this other guy she met, and as much as Alex used to pursuade her to go for it, he couldnt help wishing she would one day say that about him. Now she was. And no feeling could ever match this one, the one he had waited seven long years for. The wait had been worth it and he knew it, he knew, now, more than ever, he wanted her. Her lips touched his, and Alex felt as though the world around him had dissapeared and faded into nothing. Her brother could come behind him and start tapping him saying, 'Excuse me, why are you kissing my sister' and Alex wouldnt even stop, he wouldnt even tell him to go away, or make a rather rude hand gesture to him, in fact, Alex probably wouldnt even realise he was there.
Alex pulled Girty closer to him, as though scared if he didnt, she would slip away from him. His kiss was gentle, not demanding like it was on the hill. It was rather soft and caring, slow and sweet. He was smiling while he was kissing her, he couldnt help it, she made him smile, she made him happy, right now, his mind, and heart, were doing a very happy little dance inside him that just made him want to giggle himself stupid as he felt as though it tickled. Pulling away from her, Alex looked down at Girty, all he said, was two words.
"Be mine?"
