Flicking the quill between her fingers, Brooke huffed and placed her chin into the palm of her hand. As she leant on the small table in the Gryffindor common room, she attempted to draw up a conclusion to her Runes essay. Professor Saunders would hopefully be satisfied with the overall content of the essay as surprisingly it went on for a few pages over the recommended amount, but how, Brooke was unsure. She was not a studier and Ancient Runes wasn’t exactly her favourite class, but she was happy that she had somehow managed to write a fair amount. Still, this conclusion was just not happening for her. As another sigh escaped her lips, she dropped her quill down on the paper before picking up her open bag and sliding the items on the table clumsily into her satchel. Throwing over the lid, she flung the shoulder bag onto her back and ran up the stairs, throwing it onto her bed before taking a few coins to go out with. Although she had been studying all day and night, and it was a school night, she needed a bit of fun and relaxation, and what better than a little trip to Hogsmeade late night? With a quick brush of her hair, she pulled on her dark red and black tartan jacket and made her way out of the castle.
It was odd to see Brooke without Bryn near her, she looked incomplete almost, and it was also very rare to see one without the other. Of course there were moments where they had to be apart, like the toilet, showering, intimate moments with others etc, but at least 70 percent of the time they were in each other’s company. Tonight however, Bryn was off on his own adventure into the forest to try and conquer his fear of it all alone. Brooke offered to hold his hand but he soon swore at her and Brooke knew not to push it anymore. His tone always showed when he was becoming agitated, and so Brooke just stuck her tongue out at him as he left over an hour ago for his mini adventure while she cursed herself for actually getting stuck into an essay.
Walking into Hogsmeade, her sights were set on the The Hogs Head for a fun night of drinking and dancing. It had been a while since she had stepped foot into the pub, and she missed the fun drinking could bring, especially if the pub was full with people. Pushing open the heavy oak door, Brooke was happy she was finally off the harsh texture of the cobbled floor and onto softer ground. It didn’t help walking on cobbles in high heels. As the dark street was temporarily blessed with the light from in the pub, the moment was for a split second before it was cast into darkness once again and Brooke was in the light. As the door flung back, Brooke paused for a moment, looking round to see if she knew any familiar faces. The owner, Warren Hubbles was there and with his charming cheesy grin as always. “Hey Warren, two of the usual please” she piped up as she sat at a stool at the bar.

Stretched out on the sofa, infront of the roaring fire of the Gryffindor Common Room. He didnt really pay much attention to what was going on around him, instead, the complete opposite. He was compleltey immersed in watching the flames flicker and dance in the grill, his brown eyes staring half lifeless at the flames. They were hypnotising of a sort, still, it was no surprise Jase was letting the fire get the best of him, it was either this or Astronomy Essays and countless other things Jase was supposed to have done, and told Ten and Amie he had done, but yet still hadnt.
Stretching, he decided he needed to get out. He was falling asleep with his eyes open here and he didnt want to scare any first years by making them think he had died, and having Max throw cold water on him to wake him up. Seriously, brothers. Who needs them? Well, at least he wasnt gay anymore. So that was one thing that was working in Max's favour. Jase and his brother still did not like eachother, but for the feelings and comfort of their housemates, they tolerated eachother, more often then not they just stayed out of eachothers way compleltey, the last time they had spent more than five minutes together in each others company, it hadnt exactly turned out brilliantly.
Grabbing his dark jacket, he pulled it over his pale blue t-shirt. He didnt see the point in dressing up, he was only going for a mosey down in Hogsmeade. Technically, forbidden right now but hey, since when did Jase care for rules? Besides, he may see Amie down there, she wasnt exactly known for keeping the rules either, it was Tenley who kept them both in check and since Jase was a Gryffindor, Amie was a Hufflepuff and Tenley was a Ravenclaw, it was quite difficult for her to keep track of Amie and Jase, and he doubted this close to exam dates that Tenley would be wandering the castle.
Walking over the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade, walking past numerous drunkards. Jase silently laughed to himself, until a drunkern brunette jumped right into his arms confessing she thought Jase to be absolutley gorgeous. Furrowing his brow, Jase placed the girl down and bade her a goodnight, shrugging off the drunkern compliment as he walked down the street, past the Three Broomsticks, which seemed to be lacking in the people area, and yet Hogsmeade was spewing off more drunks than an Alcholics Dream. So where were they coming from?
His question was soon answered as he rounded a corner and saw the pub Hogs Head. It had become considerably better and more well kept since Warren took over. The place must have been crawling in people because Jase had to squeeze through the people outside before he could even think about going to the bar. Finally, reaching the open door, he walked inside, surprisingly, the inside was less crowded then the outside as he took a seat on the bar. Not realising anyone was beside him he ordered himself a drink. It was only as he looked up into the mirror on the back of the bar did he realise, turning his head in her direction, he recognised who it was.
"Brooke Kennedy" He smiled at her, signalling for Warren to get Brooke another drink. Though in the same house, Brooke and Jase only knew names. Nothing else about eachother.

As she sat, lonely at the bar, she had been there a mere two minute and already Brooke has necked two Fire whiskeys as if they were going out of fashion. The poor girl began to slump onto the bar, not because she was in a drunken state, but due to boredom. She hadn’t planned that far ahead about what she would do for company when she reached the pub. Hogsmeade needed a pick me up, and a cooler place for the students to hang out, like a club or something.
As her thoughts wandered into plans of a nightclub opening in Hogsmeade, and her imagination planting Brooke firmly at the front of the queue, she smiled into her glass before finishing the dregs of the whiskey. Hearing her name, she looked towards it to see Jase, a fellow Gryffindor. The shock made her almost knock her teeth on the glass.
“Jase, come to join the wild party?” she smirked as she set the glass down. As he ordered another drink for her from the bar, she greeted him with a large grin and a small nod in thanks. “Thanks Jase, I didn’t know you were such a gentleman” she said with her Welsh accent thick with excitement. Looking back at her empty glass as she rolled the bottom of it on the table, suddenly the heat of the whiskey and the room filled her, and she began to get hot. Huffing slightly, she jiggled about on her stool as she unzipped her gryffindoresque jacket and threw it over her lap. Looking back at Jase, she gave him another pleasant smile, pleased that someone was actually talking to her, other than Warren. Jase and Brooke weren’t friends as such, more acquaintances, what with being in the same year and house and having classes together, but for some reason they never really got round to having an in depth chat with one another. Brooke began to wonder why as the drinks came over and Brooke flashed another stunning smile to Warren. Clinking her glass with Jase’s she necked back half the glass before sucking through her teeth.
“Okay, that one had a kick to it” she said before having a small giggle. Placing the glass back down, she turned her stool slightly to face Jase more. She remembered why now they had never spoken before much...When he transferred not long ago, there was a big rumble on the lawns with him and his estranged brother Maxi Hennerdale. Obviously, Bryn and Brooke being Gryffindors, they were friendly with Maxi, and for a guy to just turn up and beat chunks out of someone else, wasn’t the best entrance Brooke had ever seen. Still, after a week or two the gossip and pandemonium had calmed down slightly and that gave Brooke a chance to actually let Jase welcome to Hogwarts. “So what brings you down here tonight, sick of schoolwork too?”

It would never happen. Hogsmeade was too small to accomadate a nightclub, it was unfortunate as Jase would love one, he would probably never leave until he was kicked out. Be the clubs favourite customer Jase would, but he wasnt holding his breath, which proved to be a good thing as he downed his firewhisky and ordered another, buying yet another for Brooke too. He could see this girl costing him a fortune tonight, but as a guy who believed in some form of moral highground, he couldnt let her buy all her own drinks. It would be wrong and then Jase would be classed as ungentlemanlike as well bully. Both statements untrue.
"Actually no," Jase shrugged, "Came for a few quiet drinks, stumbled into a pub full of people instead." Of course, over the music and the loud chatter in the pub, Jase had to shout or he wouldnt be heard. He would have a hard time explaining why his throat was hoarse in the morning. "Funny that." He shrugged once more, taking a swig of his firewhisky, "Cause I got into a bust up with my brother people automatically assume me to be a bully and have no decency." Of course, he had grown past what people thought of him and got on with his life. He had Amie, and in this place, that one person could be enough. Of course, it would help if he actually saw her. In fact, it felt like weeks since he had last set eyes on the red head, though he was sure he would run into her eventually. "Though, thats not true, I am decent and I'm not a bully, unless your name is Maxwell and then I cant be held responsible" Jase returned her smile with a toothy grin, he wasnt one to usually talk to strangers, let alone buy drinks for one, but she wasnt entirely a stranger was she? Clinking his glass with hers, he smirked, "Cheers!"
"Not a big drinker?" He asked, pointing to it and signalling it was a double, not a single. Everyone still judged him on the fight with Max, yet no-one bothered to ask his side of the story. All they were bothered about was 'saint Maxwell' completley overlooking what he had put numerous people through in the past year or so. He was a prefect, so therefor did that come with some form of 'get out of trouble free' card? Max had it easy, he had put people through the mill and yet still come out of it better than before, and Jase was the one to be critized. Well, he got over it quick enough and he was no longer bothered by the stares and the fact people shyed away from him. "Sick of school in general. I have about eight essays needing doing and dont have the patience to do it. Sitting staring at flames was making me sleepy so here I am." He smiled, "You get the pleasure of my company tonight."

As Brooke set her glass down, more out of habit to be able to play with the glass more than anything else, she watched as the liquid tumbled around clumsily in the glass as she rolled it around. Savouring the tang of the drink in her mouth for a moment before she swallowed it, she looked back to Jase quickly before pulling out some money to pay for the next round as Jase ordered it. Giving him a look as if to say ‘if you try to buy this round I’ll scratch your eyes out’ she soon followed it up with a cheeky grin. Passing the coins to the bar tender, she picked up the half drunk glass, and downed it before quickly swapping it with the new one and downing that one too...
Wiping the corner of her mouth on the back of her hand, she gritted her teeth together at the strength of the whiskey that hit her tongue violently and slid down her throat. The more she had the more it seemed to gain more strength. Strange, it was usually the other way around. Brooke could feel herself getting tipsy already, and it didn’t help that she hadn’t eaten since lunch time, and that was only half of Bryn’s sandwich.
Almost spitting the whiskey back out as Jase spoke, Brooke did well to control a laugh. “A few quiet drinks? Geez Jase! Who’d of thought you’d get so old so fast” she joked, pushing him gently in the arm. From what she’d said to Jase before tonight, she got the impression he was a nice, but misunderstood guy. Sure, his entrance into Hogwarts wasn’t the best one ever and nothing to write home about, but some people just had a string of bad luck, and Brooke guessed that it was Jase’s turn to have it when he arrived here. As Jase began to talk about the Marvelous Maxi, Brooke could see his point of view.
“Well you’ll just have to work on making people realise your different then won’t you?” she said cheerfully in attempt to not make the night a depressing drunken one, where friends sat in a corner and drunk themselves into misery, that would not do at all tonight as Brooke’s plan was to have fun and get wasted. Sticking her tongue out slightly from between her teeth, she shrugged her shoulders at him before speaking up again. “Besides, forget about Max, i’m here, and we’re going to have an awesome night!” she cheered, clinking her empty glass against his. “Same again?”

The two Gryffindors, out of uniform, sat at the bar. To an onlooker it was two cosy friends getting wasted together, when in actual fact it was two near complete strangers getting wasted together. Brooke more quickly then Jase. Figuring he had to catch up on the scale of getting tipsy, as though it was a race, verryy mature, he downed his whisky and ordered another round. Though catching a sparkle from his eye, he looked down and saw Brooke with a handful of coins, "Its alright I--" Though seeing her glare he smiled, "I'll buy the next one." Girls were scary anyway, but if you dont do what they want, then they become even scarier. As soon as they got their drinks, Brooke downed hers, Jase, wide-eyed, thought she best slow it down before she becomes completley legless to the point of finding her way drunkernly into some random guys lap, to which Jase would have to save her, or get an earful from Bryn.
"Not one to poop on the parade but," He dared, "Dont you think you best slow down? I dont want to have to keep on saving you from guys who want to try their luck, or save you from doing something embarrassing." "Besides Bryn would kill me" He added as an afterthought. Despite the fact Jase had even less to do with, with the other Kennedy, he knew how protective Bryn was over Brooke, it was a nice change to see a brother and sister as close as they were, and because of this, Jase knew it would be the last thing he ever did if he didnt look after Brooke tonight. Downing his, he smiled, ordering another and paying before Brooke had the chance, he smiled. Taking a sip, he planned on drinking this one slower before the alcohol began to rush to his head.
"Not old!" Jase retaliated as she pushed him with her arm, though shrugging it off he laughed, "I just fancied a night away from the Castle, a few quiet relaxing drinks, something that doesnt take too much effort and something that can take my mind off the bloody workload!" Misunderstood. That wasnt emo in itself was it? Jase wasnt misunderstood, people saw what they saw and drew up conclusions that werent really true, but they were not lies either. Jase was a confusing person and not many people truely got him. There was a lot about Jase's personality that you would think nasty, but people who knew him knew he wasnt serious. Of course, everyone knew of his dislike for Max, it wasnt as though he tried to hide it. Yet his cousin Rieko was a different story. Jase and Rieko got along, she wasnt judging like Max was and she gave Jase a chance. Honestly, Jase didnt care if Brooke saw his point of view, it wasnt what mattered to him. People saw what they saw, what they thought was down to them, Jase did not care.
"No, I dont think so." Jase smiled, "I'm who I am, and Im not going to work on being someone I'm not to make losers happy." Jase laughed when she told him to forget about Max, it was easier said than done, he was a twit. Careful not to curse as Jase didnt like to curse, well he did, but not in the presence of a female. Mostly, he tried to not curse infront of Amie as a swift hand would find itself colliding with the back of his head. "We'd better!" He laughed, "Aye! Same again!"

Brooke was one for social interaction. If she didn’t have anyone to talk to she became bored very quickly and that was when she would end up doing something stupid like hexing someone randomly or charming some object to cause a ruckus. The last time she was in a Quidditch supplies shop and as Bryn was getting yet another Pin badge for Gryffindor, she decided to charm a broom or two and a few books and cleaning equipment. The place was a mess, but luckily it was a Saturday and so nobody got the blame for it. Bryn knew exactly who it was however and soon grabbed Brooke and left the shop. Her mind tended to wander off if she became bored, and it always wandered into the same direction of mischief.
Now, sitting at the bar with a drink in her hand, and her spirits high, Brooke was happy as she felt the warmth of the whiskey fill her, it gave her a bubbling sensation that only happened when you were getting drunk. All the while though, Jase didn’t bore her, that in itself was a good sign. Swinging her legs free from the metal bar attached to the stool, she gave Jase a pout when he said she should slow down.
“Slow down? Nonsense Jase, you should speed up!” she laughed turning the pout back into a smile as she jabbed him lightly in the arm with her finger. “And Bryn isn’t here is he? I can handle myself” she assured him. Necking back the next drink, she soon got them replaced by the bartender as she handed over more coins. “You see, this is the problem with shots...they never last long enough” she said, twisting the liquid around in the glass once more. As a Muggle Rock band’s song came on the karaoke machine, Brooke jumped herself out of her little mumblings and grabbed onto Jase’s arm. “I love this song!” she squealed dragging herself off the stool and running over to the dance floor. As she prepared herself to dance, she realised she had knocked her jacket off her lap. Pulling an ‘o’ face she ran back, as fast as she could in heels and in a crowded bar and picked up her jacket and placed it on the stool.
“Are you coming to dance then or not drunk enough yet?” she laughed. She knew a lot of guys never danced, and some only danced when they were drunk, but it was worth a shot.

Back in America, it was rare you found Jase bored due to the fact he had people around him. He used to be a socialite, but in England everyone judged him on what happened with Max so he drew back into a shell he didnt really know exsisted. He didnt mind not having a load of people around him constantly now, in fact he found it refreshing. Backing down his drink, shaking his head as the liquid almost burned his throat and without even asking, one of the barmen refilled it. His eyes were on the top of the bar, his eyes running over the pattens in the wood while Brooke was throwing back drinks as though they were going out of fashion.
This was a company he wasnt used to, he used to watch Bryn and Brooke and just shake his head, their antics, true, used to amuse him. But he was never one who wanted to be in their little crowd. It seemed as though Jase and Brooke were getting on quite well, to which he knew, would be her brothers dismay. Bryn was one of those who judged him on what he did to Max as Bryn and Max were friends. Still, they couldnt blame him forever right?
"Im quite happy drinking at my pace thankyou," He told her, "I dont want to find myself waking up on some park bench with a stray dog havin' a slash up my leg." "How'd you know he's not?" Jase asked with a smirk, Putting his fingers around his eyes like he was looking through binoculars, "You know how protective he is of you, how'd you know he's not hiding somewhere watching you with binoculars eh?" Before Jase had a chance to answer, she had jumped up, much to Jase's surprise who almost fell backwards off his chair as she grabbed his arm. The music filled his ears once more, it was like a mini club in here tonight. Even the lighting, Warren seemed to have new flash lighting, the pub was dark except for the green and other coloured neon lights shining through the air. It was enough to make anyone go green, luckily, Jase could handle his drink quite well. As she tried to drag him up, he shook his arm free and watched her walk onto the floor, only to come back to pick her jacket up, which Jase laughed at and necked back his other drink. Eh, you only live once right?
"I cant dance." Jase told her with a laugh, he could sing and play the guitar as he used to study music in America and was in his own small band, but dancing was never something he got the grips of. Jase never danced, even at the ball he danced once with Amie and once with Tenley, and for a joke with Mike to a slow song too, much to the girls amusement. And that was a disaster in his eyes, even though he was told for a first timer he did quite well.

It wasn’t to say Brooke was the best dancer ever, in fact it seemed to pretty much go downhill as soon as she started drinking. Bryn always introduced her as the wayward sister, and he couldn’t of been more spot on. With whatever she did she was doing, she would constantly change, get bored easily or simply wander off on a whim and do her own thing. She was wayward due to her outlook on life. She found it simply too short for her to do as she was told and not what she wanted, and usually she did whatever she wanted anyway. Her brother though, was very protective of her, sometimes too much so. The amount of times he had picked fights with random people just because they were chatting Brooke up was impossible to count of your fingers. Brooke couldn’t blame him, because she was just the same with him. Is anyone as much as look at him for a longer period than 3 seconds she would take offence and start something up. It was at those sort of times that Brooke wondered if the pair were ever going to separate and find happiness with someone else. The likelihood however, was zilch.
Maybe Brooke was a little too wayward for some people? Especially most Ravenclaws who were the stay at home bookworms that they were. If Brooke was in any other house, she would just not fit in at all, she would stick out like a sore thumb, depending what sore thumbs stuck out like of course. Brooke always imagined them to be horizontal and bright red. Whoever came up with that saying was definitely not a Ravenclaw.
“Well, you’re just a little party pooper ain’t ya?” she pouted jokingly. “What better way to relax than getting drunk, sleeping on a bench and getting pee’d on?” she laughed, taking another sip of her drink.
As the music pounded, grabbing Jase by the arm once again, she raised her eyebrows. “Come on, I can’t dance either, especially after alcohol and in these heels!” she lifted her leg up backwards and pointed to her shoes. Letting go on him once again, she raced over to the floor and awaited Jase’s decision. The last time she had danced was the Yule ball, and surprisingly, she went with someone other than her brother. However halfway through the night, her date had become too boring for her to bear, and it seemed it was likewise with her brother, so again the pair ended up being together, looking like quite the losers, but at least they had fun.

"I can think of numerous better things I would rather be doing then getting pee'd on thankyou Brooke." Jase spoke in a matter of fact tone, though the amusement clear on his face. Jase in fact loved a good drink every once in a while, though he just never found time recently, not that anyone was into drinking as much as he was and hardly anyone could keep up with him. Jase knew his limits, but he tended to exceed them more than once. "Like sitting at a bar and having the disco lighting shine in my eyes."
"Well theres no point in us both making fools out of ourselves is there?" Jase laughed as she grabbed his arm once more, though let go and rushed onto the dance floor. Being given another drink, he watched her sway and move intime to the music. Pft, she said she wasnt a good dancer. Downing his drink, probably more for dutch courage then anything else, he placed his own jacket on the bar, before turning and looking into Brooke's direction, already having second thoughts about doing this. When the word Dance was mentioned, Jase usually hightaled it in the other direction.
But yet here he was. Walking towards the dancefloor and into the direction of Brooke, however when he got there, he realised what a bad idea that actually was. Jase got there, and well he just sort of stood there, not really knowing what to do. Deciding this was a bad idea, Jase shook his head and began to walk back into the direction of the bar for a top up on his drink.

Brooke scoffed in laughter at Jase when he said he could think of better things to do than get pee'd on. Shrugging in disbelief, she raised her eyebrows. "Well you've never lived then Jase my friend. Getting pee'd on is the new in thing you know, all the kids nowadays are doing it! Especially in LA and Milan don'tyaknow?!" She joked. Brooke was welsh, obviously, but sometimes her accent was not as thick as other. However at this moment in time, her accent was noted at thick and was to Jase's american ears, probably not understandable. Hell, when she found things funny, she was always harder to understand, but her accent overall was not as strong as Bryn's was usually. Even Brooke had trouble sometimes understanding Bryn when he got wound up and angry. Twins being twins though, they always knew what they were saying and thinking, like some sort of weird twin connection thing. It was safe to say Bryn & Brooke were a little odd.
The more Brooke drank, the brighter the disco lights became, and gave some sort of weird head affect, like sort of strobe lights gave you when you weren't drinking. Brooke blinked and shunned her head away from the brightness for a moment so she could focus on Jase.
"Nonsense, i'm sure you'll be fine!" she smiled, but deciding to leave him for a moment, she ran back to the dancefloor before having a dance until the rest of the song had ended. As another song started, the lights moved slightly and Brooke finally saw Jase standing there at the dancefloor. As he turned to walk away, she leant forward and grabbed his hand. "Uh uh, come on, your here now!"
