“Is it me influencing you or the drink?”
Sebastian question as he watched Dia drain her wine glass. His eyes were jovial but inside his heart were sinking slightly as the faster she drank this wine the sooner he would have to dig into his own pocket and pay for the drinks with his own money…and although Dia was very nice he did not plan on spending any of his own money. But he would never let this show to much, he knew that a man who was stingy with his money never really got any where with beautiful women like Dia so maybe some sacrifices would have to be made.
Looking over at her he gave her a small smile and gently reached out picking up her wine glass and pouring her another glass, although this time there was a lot less in it as he tried to eek it out.
“Well lets hope it is a good influence then, I would had to be blamed for corrupting a pure heart such as yours.”
Sebastian gave Dia a cheeky smile and winked and handed her glass back over towards her. The kiss has come sooner then he thought it would and he thought that he would be the one to make the first move if what Steven had said had been true and it had been a messy break up with his cousin. That was the thing Sebastian still could not get his head around, why had Dan asked him of all people to do this task? Had the man lost all confidence in his own ability to stop women being in love with him or was it worse then that…was Dan still in love with her and she with him?

Sebastian's question made Dia freeze. She watched with a slightly blank expression on her face. He had noticed. He had noticed how stupid she was being, how she was letting the whole night get ahead of her. She didn't want to be remembered as the drunken blond that he spoke to once. She didn't want to ever be remembered at the drunken blond but there she was, getting stuck in a hole she couldn't get out of. Suddenly her stomach lurched and the professor leant back in the stool.
No longer in the mood for drinking, Dia sat watching the deep red liquid sway lightly in the glass as it was pushed towards her. She knew it was expensive and so felt bad for not wanting to drink it any more, but she was certain she had drunk nearly half the bottle in her first glass. This thought brought a small smile to her face as she slowly took the glass but didn't drink.
Instead she looked up at Sebastian, a slight pinch in her forehead, and said softly. "Sebastian," she said, seeing how it felt on her tongue, "why did you choose me?" It was a strange question but she wanted to know. "Looking around, there are a fair number of attractive young women without man on their arms but you choose to come over to me. Why?"

Sebastian was not expecting that question and it was a particular question that he had never actually been asked before. The type of women he normally went for just enjoyed the attention and the lavish expenditure but Dia had to be one to think and before he answer Sebastian took a deep breath and tried to hide the fact that he was thinking faster then he had ever thought before. Everything depended on this answer, he could not blow the cover straight away, he did not know how long Dan wanted this whole charade to go on for but deep inside in the part of Sebastian that could actually care he did not want it to end.
“What?” He said playfully acting shocked. “Do you disregard yourself that much Dia. You are like the single rose that blooms in a garden full of weeds, you stand out from the crowd in such a breath taking way that I defy any man in this room weather they are spoken for or single not to spend at least a moment admiring your beauty.”
He was always told he had a way with words when he needed to, and Sebastian smiled smugly to himself on the inside but his exterior face was one of complete sincerity. Many of his previous flings would swoon over such words but he could not help but wonder if Dia would, even with alcohol in her system she still seemed to have some common sense about her and he wondered if she could see through his act. He could only hope he had covered over his tracks well enough.

Dia watched Sebastian with nothing in her face as she waited for an answer. In a way she feared the answer. She knew that she would get a straight and honest response from this man and when it came it was straight. Avoiding looking at Sebastian, Dia looked to the barman, tending three young gents who seemed to be celebrating something. She watched them for a moment, absently sipping on her wine.
A worry came to her. Was she truly that insecure within herself that she needed that reassurance from him? It was certainly nice to hear that you were beautiful but was that really what she needed? No. She needed to clear her mind and stop drinking. Taking her final sip of wine, she put the glass down on the bar and looked at Sebastian.
"Do you want to go for a walk with me?" Dia looked over her shoulder quickly, checking on Bree but she should have realised that Brianna O'Donnell didn't need looking after. "I need some fresh air and Bree seems to be having fun with your Steven so I don't want to bother her with it. I would like your company though." The cool night air would certainly clear her head, allowing her much less alcohol intoxicated.

Sebastian was not one normally to get nervous when talking to a member of the opposite sex but this was not just a situation of trying to chat up some random, he was being paid by his cousin to do this and if Dia found out, well he imagined that it would be a death sentence for everyone involved. She lowered her gaze and Sebastian swallowed hard fearing that she had put all the pieces together and she would soon throw the rest of her drink in his face or worse slap him. But the wine stayed in her glass and after her gaze drifted around the pub clearly lost in her own thoughts her sparkling blue eyes finally rested upon him once more.
What Dia said next was yet again something he did not expect, she seemed to be one for surprising him with questions that he really had not heard before. At first he wondered if ‘going for a walk’ was a euphemisms for something but he kind of got the impression from just this short meeting that if Dia wanted something she would come out and ask it, so maybe she did just want to go for a walk. Draining his own glass of wine Sebastian caught the eye of Steven and gave him a small smile before standing up off his bar stool and smiled down at Dia, his arm hitched ready for her to link arms. (It may have been a very odd thing to do but Sebastian could not help but feel that Dia was not looking for a night of passion, she just needed someone to talk to and be there for her so if he needed to act slightly feminine to do that then that is what he shall do.)
“I would love to accompany you dear Dia.”

Dia knew that Sebastian wouldn't say no to her. She wasn't certain how she was sure but she was. She just didn't know if he knew it too. She had opened herself by asking this of him, a simple walk meant a simple talk on life, love and everything so it was likely that afterwards he would never want to see her again. This daunting thought was quickly pushed aside when Seb stood up and offered his arm.
Smiling sheepishly, Dia pushed herself out of the chair and linked her arm in his. It was so comforting to feel his warmth. She had not had any sort of physical contact with any then clinging onto Bree for support and this was good for her she thought. "Wonderful," she said then stretched an arm out to tap Bree on the shoulder. "We're just going for a walk," she informed her friend before turning back to Seb.
Allowing Seb to lead her to the door, Dia stopped to put on her coat before leaving the door. She wasn't all that certain she would be coming back in her but wasn't about to say so. Her pretense was that there was a bite to the night air that night and so a coat was just the thing to keep one warm. There were other activities that could keep you warm but Dia didn't know that she could do those just yet.
The bell above the door tinkled loudly as they left through it, tinkling again as it swung close.

Bree smiled mildly as she turned back to Steven. His little disappearing act had been exactly what Bree needed. Her misty eyes washed over Steven for a moment lost in thought before they focused again on the youthful-looking man. "Enjoy your little chat?" she said merrily. She wanted to ask so badly what he had spoke to the pirate about but she restrained her curiousity.
Leaning on the bar, still, Bree lifted the wine glass that was pushed her way and swirled the wine around in the glass. Smiling, she put her nose in the glass and sniffed before taking a sip. She must have looked mighty strange to anyone that was watching her but she didn't mind. This was her ritual when it came to wine and no amount of embarrassment at how she acted would keep her from adhering to it. She swizzled the sip around her mouth for a moment before looking at the glass and swallowing.
"Not bad," she said, "Italian vintage, a '78, maybe '79. Very expensive." She added the last with a laugh and a roll of her eyes. Turning again to Steven, Bree tilted her head to on side and frowned. "Why is it that men need to show off for women they've only just met? It's not like they are going to remember him in a few weeks time, unless they ..."
Bree trailed off. Dia and Sebastian were standing up. Dia tapped her on the shoulder and said she and the pirate were going for a walk. Bree nodded, a little confused but didn't say anything. She watched them leave and stared at the door a moment longer before turning back to Steven and taking a sip from her wine glass. She stretched a long arm and took Dia's abandoned glass and put it in front of her.
"Where was I?"
