Dia’s cheeks turned pink and she looked away, a sheepish smile on her face. Looking back to Sebastian, she said softly, “I try to not be the stereotypical Astronomy teacher but …” she shrugged. Smiling wider at the man, Dia lifted her glass to her lips and took a small sip. She knew that she couldn’t handle very much and would have to take it slowly but that she didn’t mind. It would mean getting hit on a little more and that was always a comfort.
“Oh,” Dia said to his story with a small amount of surprise. She had not taken him for a felon … of sorts but to her surprise it didn’t put her out. She sipped her Firewhiskey again, simply letting the action of taking a thoughtful sip guide her hand. They sure knew how to pick her, was what was going through her mind in the interim.
Listening carefully, Dia laughed softly. “I like that rule,” Dia said through her laughter. “My last question is …” she began, thinking hard. Being put on the spot like this, Dia wasn’t sure what else she wanted to know so smiling coyly at Sebastian, Dia said “… what is your last question?”

’oh’ was that it? Was that the only response he was going to get for telling her he could possibly be wanted by the Ministry? He had used that line so many time and women normally flocked to him seeing him as a defender of the peace and for the life of him he could not work out why the only answer Dia could mange was ’oh. It might have been a fact that Dia was ten times smarter then any of the normal girls that Sebastian normally had in his company but still inside he could not help but feel slightly put off. Yet being able to act over any emotion was his trade and that is what he was doing right now, instead of being stony faced and giving Dia an intensive glare his eyes were soft and his smile warm.
“Well….” Sebastian dropt his head slightly acting almost as if he was ashamed but he was unable to keep the grin off his face as he looked back the a elegant sight of Dia Owen once more. “My last question was asking you what your last question would be...however I shall say they cancelled each other out so…” Sebastian ran his hand over his stubble covered jaw as he thought about his next question. “I shall ask a very important question as the whole evening depends upon the answer…are you single?”
A cheeky grin filled the mans face as he watched Dia closely, he has been told by Girty to be sensitive but he did not know why, for all Sebastian knew a family member could have died and Dan wanted to find someone to make his friend smile and in the typical Hubbles big headed way who would be better then him?

For an instant a look passed over the man’s face that suggested he wanted more from her about his lack of profession. The instant passed quickly and a smile came to his face. This man was puzzling to Dia and she smiled despite herself back at him. She couldn’t help but smile. His was charming and it made her feel wanted and sort after. She had not felt that in a long time and she had almost forgotten how that felt. The recollection soon came back to her as her blue eyes moved to Sebastian’s.
Taking another sip as she listened to him, Dia laughed. “That’s right,” she chuckled, “I didn’t even think of that.” Her final question had been a silly one as his final one had been used in asking her about hers. “But it’s all semantics really,” Dia said sipping her whiskey again. She could feel the strong liquid burning her throat as it went down and her head was beginning to throb a little. Dia nudged Bree with her elbow and gave her friend the Firewhiskey. She would understand.
Turning back to Sebastian, Dia blushed at his question. She became shy, letting her hair fall around her face. Knowing that she was unlikely to see this man again, Dia made the conscious decision to not be shy. Shaking her long hair over her shoulder, Dia smiled and said, “would I be in her with Bree if I wasn’t single?” It was answering a question with a question so she added, “So, yes, I … am single.” She had to take a deep breath before admitting that she was. She hadn’t wanted to believe it but this was the point where she had to realise it was true and move on.

Sebastian had heard the answer he was waiting for; although the way Dia had admitted to being single made him ponder. It almost seemed a revelation for herself to admit that she was single, that it was the first time she had spoken those words out loud, of course he may have just been reading too much into the situation. When Dia handed her glass of fire whisky over to the other female in the party Sebastian gave her a small smile, he had doubted her being a fire whisky type so instead Sebastian finished the rest of his drink off and leaned over the bar to get the bar mans attention.
“A bottle of your finest Italian red, best give us four glasses.”
The bar man scurried off and came back with a dust covered bottle of wine and quickly placed four wine glasses in front of them. He slid a slip of paper over the counter to Sebastian with the price written on it and at the mere sight of the three figure number his eyes grew wide with astonishment. He gauged there would just be enough in the bag of gold Girty had given him so he just threw the whole thing over at the bar man and turned back to Dia.
“Me and my cousin have a small game we play when pouring wine.” He grinned at her as he started to pour the blood red liquid into the glasses. “We try and fill the glass to the rim without spilling a drop, he is the only man I know to be able to manage it other then myself, of course then the challenge is drinking it without spilling any.”
He pushed the glass over towards Dia, it was filled just short of the top giving the liquid room to slosh from one side to the other without spilling over the side. Although when it came to pouring the others a glass he filled them up only half way, this money was to be spent on Dia and not her little gal pal and his tag along. They both seemed to have enough alcohol left between them so it would not be too much of a big deal. Raising his own glass to his lips he let the red liquid lap over the edge and fill his mouth, letting the fruiter taste cancel out that of his pervious bitter drink.
“Now that is a good drink.”

“I have…er…aged well I guess.”
Steven did not know what else to say, so instead he tried to hide how uncomfortable he was finding the situation by drinking more of his beer. He may not like the stuff but it was a good reason not to talk and provided a reason for a silence to fall between them. However not only could he not stand too much of this drink at once he could not stand the silence for long. Lowering his glass he placed it down on the bar and grinned at Bree.
“So you …you and Bree are friends right?” He suddenly felt a little light headed and he was concentrating on not slurring his words “So…do you know why Seb is being paid to chat her up?” He said pointing a finger over at Dia.
It was then when his friend pushed two glasses of red wine over towards them, that was more his thing. Steven found wine much more appealing then beer, and from the mere smell of the wine it was a good bottle and as the red liquid ran over his taste buds his whole body tingled. That was a high quality glass of wine. Blinking a few times to get over the pleasure of the wine Steven managed to take hold of himself and think straight once again, well as straight as he could after the alcohol he had consumed.

“Aged well indeed,” Bree chortled. She didn’t think that Steven was older then twenty five and even that was pushing it. So the thought that the man who was currently chatting up her friend and he were the same age astounded her greatly. Though Steven’s comment on the pirate being able to hold his drink may have aged him a bit more then it should have.
Dia nudged Bree with her elbow and Bree turned her face to look at her friend. Dia held out her glass and Bree chuckled, taking it off Dia’s hands. “Tar,” she chuckled and began to drink from Dia’s glass. The glass was half empty so Bree could tell that Dia had tried but, knowing Dia as well as she did she knew that she was not a whiskey person. Dia was a wine person.
Not sensing Steven’s discomfort, Bree smiled into the glass as she sipped. The gent began to speak again and Bree looked up at him, lowering her glass to her crossed leg as before. It seemed a funny way of asking what Bree knew he wanted to know. Smiling, Bree looked over to the back of Dia’s head before answering. “Dia? Sure, I started working at Hogwarts about two months after she had.” Leaning closer to Steven Bree whispered, “but it was only the mess with her ex that really brought us closer.”
Smirking at the shy little man Bree tilted her head back and looked at the roof, running a long finger up her neck. “So I’m certain I do know why,” Bree said after a moment, “but we had never mentioned payment. Do you know how much he got?” Bree was still whispering, with her fragile friend so close she scarcely dared speak above a whisper.

Bree took the whiskey, as Dia knew she would, with a laugh and a smile. Her friend knew her too well. Looking past Bree for a moment at the man at her side, Dia smiled, noticing that he seemed to be young and a little nervous. Dia knew how intimidating Brianna could be and so didn’t blame him for being so.
Looking back to Seb, Dia’s eyes went wide when he ordered the finest Italian red wine. Having had many conversations with Bree about wines, Dia knew how expensive it could be and was surprised that a man she had only just meant would want to indulge on her so. It was a sweet gesture and once the shock had passed, Dia’s cheeks turned pink and she smiled. Dia was flattered by the gesture, of course, and wouldn’t refuse good wine. She hadn’t had decent wine in ages as Bree refused to allow her to drink ‘the good stuff’ when she wanted to get drunk!
Dia watched with mild interest as he poured the wine, listening to his story of his cousin. The way Sebastian poured was enchanting; Dia was unable to tear her eyes away, with a slightly lost smile on her face. She watched the liquid in her own glass sway lazily. It was as though the wine was relaxed, exactly the way Dia felt while drinking red wine. Relaxed. It was a challenge indeed to not spill for Bree would surely kill her if she spilt such an expensive wine.
Sitting up straight and dropping her leg, Dia sat up straight and reached a pale hand for the wine. Lifting it slowly, Dia made sure to keep her hand steady and as the glass reached her rosy lips she had not spilt. She drew a long sip so that spilling wasn’t going to be an issue any more. As the warm liquid flowed down her throat, a relaxed and satisfied smile came to her face. “Oh, it’s divine,” Dia said after a moment. Leaning on her fist, Dia put her glass down and smile at Sebastian. “So do you always splurge on strange women you meet in bars?” she asked coyly. She lifted the glass again, taking a small sip and her blue eyes were fixed on the man the whole time.

‘Mess up with her ex’ Steven thought as Bree explained her side of the tale to him. He may have worked in the castle but that was not to say he paid much attention to the affairs that happened in the school he did not see it to be his business. But as he thought on the matter for a while longer he could not piece the parts together as to why Sebastian’s cousin would ask him to do such a….
His mouth formed a small ‘o’ shape as things slowly fell into place, memories flashed before his eyes of the many jobs he had done, the graffiti’s he has removed from classroom tables and the notes he had found wedged in key holes. Steven could not believe he had not made the connection before, Hubbles and Owen, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw…it had been the talk of the school.
“Hum…pay?” Steven said final snapping back to reality and look upon the lady in front of him. “Oh he was given the money for the drinks and a small bag of lose change for his troubles…his cousin said something about being careful but I…” his voice dropt a bit quieter and he leaned in towards Bree swaying a little on his stool “…I never made the connection between Hubbles and Owen.”
The little mans mind was working faster then it ever had done before and stumbling off his stool he quickly walked over towards Sebastian taking him by the arm and started to try and pull him away. Eventually his friend gave in and with a furrowed brow the smaller the two burst into a frantic whisper.
“She used to go out with your cousin, they broke up badly from what I heard from the students…this is wrong you’re his cousin you should not be doing this.”

Sebastian watched Dia sip her wine closely, watching her lips press against the side and red liquid flow over them, she was a temptress and she did not know it. The little bit of colour that filled her cheeks showed she was modest and gave her that innocent quality but then you have her playful smile and joyful laugh that opens your eyes to the vastness of possibilities. Then when she said small little remarks like that you could not help but laugh at yourself...Sebastian could not help start to wonder how this woman was single.
“Oh I buy drinks for most women.” He said with a jovial tone at first but then it turned into something slightly more serious although a smile was still present on his face. “However I only buy wine for the woman with your standard of beauty.”
Sebastian gave her a small smile before picking up his own glass and sipped on it, not removing his gaze off Dia. However his own private thoughts of where he would like the evening to go were rudely interrupted by Steven tugging at his arm, the little weakling was not getting very far with the matter so placing his glass down on the bar and muttering ‘Excuse me’ to Dia Sebastian got off his stool and walked a little way away from the two females and listened to what Steven had to say.
At first Sebastian was rather angry that his thoughts had been disturbed but when he listened most closely to what his friend had to say and small smile passed across his face. This was perfect, she was weak, venerable and clearly had a thing for the Hubbles charm, at first he was slightly put out that Dan thought he should be given his hand-me-downs but she was something special he could soon forgive his cousin. Dropping his voice into a low whisper while trying to look over at Dia Sebastian tried to calm the man down about his worry about the whole scenario being ‘wrong’
“I do not care about the morals of it all, she needs cheering up and in need of a night of fun and laughter…if something happens then it happens…she is single and so am I.”
With a small laugh he gave Steven a playful punch on the shoulder and walked back over towards Dia, sitting back down on his bar stool and took a large swig of wine to loosen himself up a bit more. The rhyme of the conversation had died slightly so he would have to get it going again and where better then an apology for the terrible rude behaviour of his friend.
“I am sorry about that Dia. Steven wanted some advice.” Sebastian placed his wine glass down once again and turned to look at Dia joining in the common trend that seemed to be spreading over the small group and hushed his voice down, although not so quite that if she was that determined Bree could have heard. “My friend seems to like Miss O’Donnell and he wanted to know what to do, so I told him to wait and let her make the first move because then there really would be no doubt on her affections towards him.”

As Steven spoke on the topic of the money that had changed hands Bree smirked and watched the man that was looking at Dia so intently. She knew that she had signed up for this but knowing what had happened still dug a hole in her stomach and threatened to push her in, leaving her there for the rats and other creepy crawlies to eat. A thought occurred to Bree, as she sipped Dia’s Firewhiskey. She wondered if the pirate (being Sebastian) would still have taken the money if he had seen her before?
Looking down at the golden liquid that swirled around that walls of the glass, Bree instinctively knew he would have. Men had little honour that way. “Of course he would…” Bree said absently, but not speaking about Sebastian. Not wanting her thoughts to follow the ones that had just come to her, Bree threw the last of the glass into her mouth and swallowed. Dropping the glass onto her lap, Bree held out the glass to Steven for him to put it on the bar as her back was still towards it and it was simply easier that way.
Suddenly Bree realised the connection Steven had made, the hand holding the glass moving back to her lap, and her face clearing of expression. A worried frown came to her forehead and she leaned towards the man. “You mustn’t say anything to her,” Bree said, “she cannot know. Under any circumstan…ces …” Steven seemed set in the wish to leave her. Bree watched him anxiously as he walked towards the other half and –to her great relief- pulled the pirate aside. Seeing an opportunity, Bree spun her chair and leaned on the bar close to Dia.
“And?” she asked, with raise questioning eye brows, “are we having fun?”
Bree knew that Dia didn’t know anything so the hole wasn’t as deep within her and she smiled widely at her friend. The wine glass that had been standing unattended at her back was now straight ahead of her and looked most inviting. Picking it up, Bree lifted it to her lips and her eyes happened to fall upon Dia’s which was much fuller then her own. Lowering her glass, Bree smirked at her thoughts on how the pirate was trying to get the Astronomy buff plastered, as it were. How odd? she thought.

Dia could feel Sebastian’s gaze on her the whole time. In a way it made Dia a little nervous. She wasn’t certain she was dressed appropriately to be “hit on” as Bree would put it and she still wasn’t sure that she had gotten rid of the smell of Dan out of her clothing. This had been a big issue for her for some reason. But in another way, his consistency and attentiveness was exciting. She had forgotten how much fun this could be and how crazy the butterflies in her stomach could get.
To her slightly rhetorical question, Dia got an answer that both made her check herself and laugh. It was honest, but at the same time what she wanted to her so then … how could it be honest? Laughing, Dia picked up her wine glass again, taking another sip. She could feel her cheeks were lighting up but she didn’t care. She felt warm everywhere and if it showed only in her cheeks she would just have to live with that. She had not felt this alive in far too long to let the night go by with restraint and worry.
“I’m sure you say that to all the women,” Dia teased, almost absently caressing Sebastian’s leg. Her hand then went to her own leg but her eyes stayed on Sebastian’s, a besotted twinkle in her happy eyes. Sipping her wine again, Dia lowered her glass slowly as she saw the other man trying to take Sebastian away. He showed his apology and Dia shook her head. ‘It’s alright’ she mouthed and looked to Bree who was now speaking to her. She put her glass down and leaned close to Bree to hear what she had to say.
Blushing even more, a hand moved to her cheek as she realised it was that obvious how much fun she was having. The two women laughed together, no words needing to be shared. “And what about you?” Dia asked, “yours looks familiar.” “He works up at the school.” “Really?” Dia nodded her head, brushing hair out of her face. “Yeah, but he’s just so nervous. It’s adorable.” The two women looked over their shoulders at the two men and laughed once more as they began to head back. Bree quickly took Dia’s hand and squeezed it encouragingly. Dia smiled and turned to Sebastian as he took his seat again.
Dia, taking up her glass again, shook her head, her blond hair flopping around her face. “Not at all,” she said, sipping her wine. As Seb explained, Dia leaned towards Sebastian as he did the same and listened closely to what he had to say and she giggled. This was a distinctly uncharacteristic noise for the professor to make but any who had plied her with alcohol would know that it went to her head as soon as she started to drink so giggling was then no longer off the list of possibilities. Fixing her eyes on Sebastian’s that seemed to her to have looked at her for much longer then the short time they had spent together, Dia smiled, unable to think of anything else to say.

Sebastian could not believe it at first that Dan would let one like this slip away she was something. A little bit of a light weight when it came to drink but she had such a radiant smile and that playful glint in her eye, Sebastian could see how Dan would have fallen for someone like this, she seemed his type. Blond, attractive and with enough alcohol going through her system he guessed she would not put up much of a fight, a push over.
Smiling softly at Dia Sebastian quickly glanced down at her wine glass trying to gauge how much she had actually drunk and from the fact that the red liquid was still hovering dangerously close to the rim just proved how little she had sipped out of the glass. Feeling slightly disheartened by this site Sebastian met her gaze once more feeling her blue eyes study his face during the silence that had fallen between them. If it was his job to help this woman get over his cousin then that is just what he would do and he would do it in the only way the Hubbles family truly knew how.
“So…” Sebastian tried to restart some form of conversation between the two of them. “…I may be going back on my own rule with only asking three dull questions but I have to ask you this one thing…I ask it to nearly all Professor I met and get a different answer every time.” A small smile danced across his lips as he reached forward and took hold of his wine glass yet again. “What made you want to go into teaching? In my opinion going back to school would be hell.”
With a soft chuckle Sebastian raised the wine glass to his lips, however very much unlike him he made a slight error in his act and also his apparent cool composure when he missed his own mouth and the red liquid dribbled down his chin and down upon his shirt. As soon as he felt the liquid flow down his chin his eyes grew wide in alarm and profanities started to escape form his mouth, even in the wizarding world no one could get a red wine stain out completely.

Through the haze that was forming in her mind, Dia was beginning to think that perhaps she was coming on a bit strong, staring as she was. It was a habit she had formed. It was a terrible side effect of one of the passions in your life watching slow moving objects by candle light. Sitting in one attitude for hours was something that Dia could easily do and it meant that sometimes she didn’t realise just how intently she could be looking at someone.
The sound of Sebastian’s voice pulled Dia out of her staring daze and she blinked a few times, frowning a little, before taking another sip of her wine. His question was surprising to say the least. Dia had been asked it many times but from this man, on this particular evening it seemed a little peculiar coming from him. Frowning a little more, Dia slowly put her glass down. As she was doing so she was trying to clear her head of all the fog that was swimming around so she could formulate a decent answer the question.
Movement caught her eye and when she looked back to Sebastian he had a trickle of deep red liquid running down his chin and a splattering of the wine on his shirt. Dia laughed, a hand instantly moving to cover her mouth but it didn’t stop her from laughing as she had hoped it would. Planting her feet on the cross bar on her bar stool, Dia stood up and leant over the bar, taking a napkin. Sitting back down again, still laughing, Dia reached with the napkin and wiped the wine on his chin.
Moving the napkin to dab at his shirt, Dia said, with light chuckles still lingering in her voice, “oh dear. This will be hard to get out.” Her mother had once taught her a trick to getting wine off material but it wouldn’t work in this situation. With great surprise, Dia realised that her free hand was currently lain lightly on Sebastian’s chest, holding the shirt down so it was easier to dab at, she assured herself. With this recollection, Dia’s eyes fleetingly shifted to Seb’s but quickly moved back again.
It soon occurred to the Astronomy professor that she wanted to kiss the man. He was charming, didn’t have any problem spending the extra galleon on a girl and he made her laugh. This last point had always been a big point in Dia’s life because she did so love to laugh. Shifting forward on her bar stool so one leg dropped to the ground, Dia looked up at Sebastian’s face and held his gaze, her hands still on his chest. Suddenly, she simply lunged forward, locking lips with Sebastian, her hands moving to his shoulders.
This was an extremely uncharacteristic Dia move but it seemed fitting, appropriate almost. She didn’t care who was watching, if Bree didn’t approve or even that she tasted of a very expensive wine. All she cared about was the feeling, the rush. She knew Seb wanted her and that was enough to know that this was right.

Well there seemed to be advantages to ruining his white shirt with red wine and that was that Dia seemed to be quite concerned about the well fair of his top and took it upon herself to dap the spillage up. If he knew he would get this response beforehand he would have tipped his drink down himself sooner, the man could not help but smile and he gave a few onlookers rather smug smiles, he had got the most beautiful woman in the pub’s hand on his chest and she was getting closer and closer still. There a brief moment when their gaze met and Sebastian had seen that look many a time before and he knew what was coming next.
Their lips met, he felt her hands on his shoulders and almost as instinct he wrapped his arms around her, his hands placed firmly on her back almost to give her some support and to stop her from slipping away. He felt the cloth from her dress gather underneath his fingers as he carried on enjoying the kiss on of his hands wondered up and started to play with the end of her silky blond hair. The kiss itself was good, it was long and something else was present that was not desire or lust and that confused Sebastian slightly…but then he never expected Dia Owen to be one to launch herself upon a man.
Breaking away from the kiss Sebastian repositioned his hands to either side of her waist and he just looked into her untainted blue eyes. Now he could see why Dan really did go for this woman and had he known what she was like he would not have needed paying as much. Running his tongue over his lips Sebastian gave Dia a small grin.
“Well Professor Owen you have surpassed my expectations.”
Who would have guessed that a quiet, quite frankly depressed looking woman would turn out to have a fire burning inside her and a mischievous side which seemed to always get to Hubbles men.

The whole of Dia’s body was on fire. She had missed many opportunities to kiss someone and she was in raptures that she had seized this chance when she had the chance to. The feeling of Sebastian’s hands on her made her heart skip a beat and she held onto that feeling until they broke apart. His hands were still on her, as were hers. She knew she was wanted. It was nice to know that someone still wanted her.
Breathing long and deep, Dia set her sparkling blue eyes on Sebastian’s face. She drew in every detail of his face, a smile on her rosy lips. She traced his stubbled jaw with her long forefinger and didn’t say anything for a moment. She couldn’t think of anything to say. She wanted to kiss him again but she wondered if that might be a bit too soon. But she had to say something.
Lifting herself back onto her chair again, Dia reached for her wine glass, still smiling. Taking a small sip, Dia leant her arms on her knee, leaning towards Sebastian and said softly, “I’m pleased to hear it. I’m always happy to surprise in any circumstances.” It might have sounded like Dia was eluding to something but with the wine and whiskey spinning around her head, Dia was more likely to be straight forward then to hint.
The desire to kiss him again still lingered on the teacher’s lips. She licked them slowly, looking into her nearly empty wine glass. “You seem to be a bad influence on me,” she said and drained the last of her glass. Setting it down, she continued, “Either that or a good one, I can’t decide which.” Eyes on Sebastian again, Dia smiled, unsure of how to proceed from where they were.
