Briar had enough of everything. She needed to talk to Arabella and straighten things out. She wasn't even sure what was wrong between them and only knew that Ari refused to talk to her. Bry had heard that the Owlery wasn't very crowded and was a good place to talk so she decided to send a letter to Ari telling her to meet her here.
Bry waited for hours, hoping that Ari would come, but she didn't. Bry was upset. She had never really been mad at Arabella in her life, but now she just couldn't stand her. All she wanted to do was mend things between them. It's not right growing up without your older sister and Bry realized that. But why did Ari have to be a snob?
Briar started to lose confidence in herself. She couldn't stand feeling the way she did. Bry was a fighter, but she couldn't fight back the tears, not this time. Were things that bad in her life? She found a window and stared out it, looking up at the stars. She knew someone would eventually find her, but didn't care who it was. She didn't even care if she got in trouble for being out past cerfew. Bry just wanted to stay there until the embarassment wore off.

Maria walked stepped into the owlery, her letter in hand. It had been almost a month since she had last written her parents and she knew her mother would be having a fit. If Maria's mother could have it her way, she would expect daily letters of everything Maria was doing. However, Maria was doing good if she sent one or two letters a month.
Looking down at the letter in her hand, Maria heard what sounded like crying. She quickly walked over to her the spot where her owl always was without looking up. She didn't really know if she was in a mood to show sympathy to someone she didn't even know. She quickly gave the letter to the owl and sent it out the window. Glancing up she saw that the girl who was crying was someone she had seen around the common room. She was just slightly younger than Maria, and if she remembered correctly her name was Briar.
Maria shook her head slightly as she knew that she was about to talk to this sad girl. Walking slowly toward Briar, Maria said, "Hey, you know most girls if they are going to cry go to the bathroom or their dorm rooms. The owlery really isn't a good place for it. You would want to upset the owls." Reaching the window, Maria looked at the girl's tearstained face. "Are you going to be okay," she asked with as much concern in her voice as she could manage for someone she didn't even know.

((hope you dont mind me butting in))
Mark had an important letter he needed delivered home. He knew it was past curfew now but he needed this sent home right away. It was his bothers birthday yesterday and he had forgot, thanks to Alexis who kindly reminded him Ricky's birthday was yesterday. You couldnt have told me before today? He scolded her as he rushed the the owlerly.
Slipping on the steps, nearly dropping the letter and the parcel, which was a toy broomstick, he cursed and slightly shook the package to make sure it wasnt broken. The letter said simply, Sorry i forgot his birthday, make sure he doesnt fall off this like i did. He rushed up the steps and through the owlery, not even noticing at first the other two students who were in there, "Get this home fast" he spoke to his owl and gave her two cookies. Turning to walk back out he noticed Briar, Ari's sister.
He walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder, "Bry right?" He said and softly pulled her to face him, seeing the tears rolling down her cheeks he brushed one off with his thumb, "Whats gotten you all upset?" he asked, keeping a hand on her shoulder, looking at her with concern. Mark didnt like seeing anyone upset, and true he didnt know Bry that well, he would make sure that she was okay and he wouldnt leave her alone, not like this.

Bry heard someone come in, shortly followed by another student. She stayed quiet hoping they'd miss her but it failed. When a fellow hufflepuff girl approached her, she gave a faint smile, "I'll be fine, I think," she said to the girl, "And trust me, I didn't come in her with intentions to bawl my eyes out. I was supposed to meet someone," she said looking back out the window.
She tried to concentrate on a bush off in the distance but found it impossible when a Gryffindor boy had approached her. He obviously knew her name, and it took her a little while to recognize him. He was the boy Ari was flirting with, the one she was sure that Ari liked. "Yeah, that'd be me," she said giving a half-hearted laugh. She shrugged when he asked her what was upsetting her, "Family problems. I got Arabella completely angry at me before I transfered here and she won't talk to me, at least not yet. I just wanted to tell her that I was sorry, but you know Ari, she's probably locked in her room with her nose in a book," she said as she gave a small laugh, "she always was the smarter one," she added.
Briar shook her head, "Don't let my attitude right now confuse you about her, she's a nice person with a great personalitly. She just hasn't adjusted yet."

"Takes a while for people to adjust to new things" Mark said as he stood by her looking out of the window. "Well, i dont think i can help really. Though i could talk to Ari for you if you want?" He suggested, he didnt like seeing people upset or hurt. And he knew what it was like when a family member refused to talk to you for something that happened in the past. "She does seem like a smart one, which is more than i can say for myself" he laughed, "Though i suppose if she is that smart she will realise and speak to you again"

Briar shrugged, "She'll come around, sooner or later. I know her too well to think she would never talk to me again. It's just that, she thinks that my personality is gonna get me in trouble one day," she said trying to explain her sister, "She doesn't understand that its alright to make mistakes. She's not only avoiding me you know," she said looking at him. "She hiding from you too. That's why she's so into her studies right now. She doesn't want to make the mistake of getting hurt or liking you too much," she said with a laugh.
Suddenly Bry realized what she had said and quickly covered her mouth, "Oops," she said quietly, "I wasn't supposed to say that," she said with a slight frown. Briar shrugged, "It's not like she can hide it well anyways," she said to him, "I'm sure you already know. She just doesn't want to admit it," she said shaking her head at the last part.

"Thats half the fun of having a boisterous personality though" he smiled, "mine and Maxi's personalities always got us into trouble at Durmstrang for one reason or another. Though he's too into his prefect duties now to have any fun or even remember he is supposed to have a boyfriend who he loves" he gave a stiff laugh, thinking about it made Mark think if Max loved Ashton anymore, "Hiding from me?" he asked puzzled, then his conversation went back to Maxi as he thought about what he had said about Ari, maybe he was right. Or maybe Mark really was just insensitive. "Well if you like someone you have got to take the risk of being hurt or else you will always be alone" He said, "You cant tiptoe your life thinking, 'i like him but he might hurt me so im going to hide' can you?" Mark sighed, "Ill find Ari later and talk to her..."
"Yeah, i already knew" He smiled at her showing that when he spoke to Ari he wouldnt drop Bry in it. "I just wasnt sure what to do about it to be honest, I dont do well in relationships"

Briar smiled, "Yeah, well, I'm trying to stay out of trouble just for Ari's sake. She worries about me, and it kinda shows, badly," she said with a laugh. Bry nodded at his statement about Ari and realized the statement also related to her in a bit. Of course, though, Bry didn't hide from Bradyn, she just tried not to acknowlegde the fact that she liked him or tried to hide her feelings around him. Maybe she should just let him know and see what happened.
Briar looked at Mark and smirked at his last comment, "Well, then, maybe you should listen to you're own advice. If you go through life thinking that you 'don't do good in relationships,' then you're very well likely to end up alone, just as much as my sister," she said, crossing her arms in front of her chest, "BUT. If you try, I mean, actually try, Mark, then who knows. Maybe you're the perfect boyfriend and you just don't know it. Then again, you might find that you're statement is true, I guess it could go either way. But I think you need to give it a shot, at least one more time," she said winking at him.

"The only trouble I've got myself into is when my so-called best friend chucked me in detention, which I'm still waiting to hear about actually" Mark said in a thought, "Speaking of which I dont even know who it's with" Laughing he looked at Bry and shrugged, "Well my sense of humour is a bit wayward these days." Mark hadn't really had a lot to do with himself since Max became a prefect, and now their friendship was over it seemed as though Mark was going to have even less to do.
"Hey hey hey!" Mark piped up waving a hand infront of him, "I like to give advice, it doesnt mean I follow it. Giving advice is way easier than following it yourself!" He laughed, though deep down he knew she was right. Mark was growing tired of people being right lately, during his and Maxi's argument, Maxi had said some harsh things, though he knew he was right in what he said. Unfortunatly. Maybe Mark would just have to, for lack of a better concept, grow up. "Well i suppose we could be lonely together" He said as a side thought, though when it came to things like this, Mark wasnt good with it. "Its not that i wont ever do relationships, it's just while I'm in school, i envisioned having a laugh. Being a bit of a.. well you know" he shrugged, "Then after school i was planning to get a job, find my own place then maybe settle down, have a few kids and live out my life with my family. Its just i dont think im ready yet"
Looking at her he gave a weak smile, "Though maybe you're right. Maybe if i did try i could be a good boyfriend. Maybe i could make your sister happy. You never know until you try right? Never know what your capable of until you test it... Maybe Ari might end up being that special person and i might just let her slip away then i might wonder 'what if' or maybe she isnt and we might not be together long but at least i can say i tried" Mark looked back up and laughed, "Okay, i ramble... Thats my dark secret"
