Maria stepped into the owlery, looking around. Finally spotting the large, grey owl her parents had given her so that she could send them letters regularly she walked over there. She pulled the small letter out of her pocket and gave it to the owl. Without her saying a word, the owl knew exactly to where the letter was going by Maria's lack of enthusiasm as she sent it. She hated having to send her parents letters. They never had a good response no matter what she wrote. They always criticized her, but their criticisms weren't as bad as the howlers she would get if she didn't write to them.
She turned around with a sigh and noticed a girl standing in the owlery, who she hadn't seen before. She noticed from her robes that the girl was a Slytherin, and she looked to be around Maria's age and Maria was curious as to why she had never seen the girl before. "Hello there," she said to the girl hoping that this girl would be more pleasant than some of the Slytherins she had met in the past.

She pivoted, slightly alarmed, to face the girl who had just spoken. Rapidly scanning the room in search of another party she might have been greeting, Daphne was surprised to see that it was herself who had been addressed. "Oh! Hello yourself!" She retorted with happiness uncharacteristic for a Slytherin student. The corner of her mouth twitched into the faintest impression of a [lopsided] smile. Daphne was under the impression that the reputation of her house would proceed her, and it just might have judging by the carefulness in the girls voice. She pushed this thought aside though, happy to have at least communicated with someone outside of her house. "I'm Daphne, and you're a Hufflepuff," she declared with uneccesary enthusiasm.

Maria smiled at the girl rather surprised by her enthusiasm, but pleased with it nonetheless. "It's a pleasure to meet you Daphne. I'm Maria, and yes, I'm a Hufflpuff." She thought for a moment and then asked. "Is that a problem?"
She usually wouldn't have cared, but if this girl didn't want to associate with a Hufflepuff, Maria certainly wasn't going to force her company on her...not at this moment anyway. She had met Slytherins in the past who weren't fond of the idea of associating with a Hufflpuff.

"It probably is a problem, but she won't tell you that." Reagan said, coming through the door frame. Her had heard the introductions from the stairs. Seeing the look on the Slytherins face, he smiled. "Don't tell me, you're not that kinda of Slytherin?" He said with a cheep laugh. In his hand was a small folded letter. Her hadn't even bothered to put it in an envelope. It was a letter stating that his mother needed to send him more galleons. He had spent his last on a set of outerwear made out of werewolf fur. Quite expensive, but very warm.
The Ravenclaw walked over to a medium sized barn owl perched close to him. He thought that barn owls were the prettiest, most elegant, much like himself. Today he was dressed in clean jeans and a button up shirt, sleeves rolled to his elbow. It was un-tucked, but pressed nicely. His hair, was a mess as usual, but it gave him a diviner sort of look. Dangerous, but clean.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I insult you." Reagan said, half-meaning it. "Slytherins are meant to be proud and sly. Its to be expected."

"I was only stating an opinion, Jhudora." He said, emphasizing her name. It was an unusual name, one of those that Reagan hadn't been able to remember right away. Reagan didn't like to be scolded, but he knew it was in good fun, at least coming from his fellow Ravenclaw.
"Oh, yeah.." Reagan said, remember about there plan to meet. "I was held up...somewhere." He lied, placing his hand on the back of his neck breezily. He had actually forgotten. They had made plans over three days ago. How was he supposed to remember. Reagan actually felt bad about it, of course he wasn't going to tell Jhudora that out front. "I'm sorry." He said, finally, dismayed. "Not mad are you?" He whispered to her with a big puppy dog grin.
"And I apologize to you Slythie." He said toward Daphne. "I judge to quickly." He said with a smile. He knew he was right however, she was either a real Slytherin or a fake Slytherin, those were the only kinds.

Maria turned and looked at the two Ravenclaws who had entered the owlery. One she recognized from her classes, but couldn't quite remember the name. She thought it was something weird, but unsure was not about to try and guess it. "Hello," she said with a small friendly smile. "Nothing's wrong... why? Did it seem like something was wrong?"
She didn't think anything had seemed wrong but she couldn't be sure. After the boy finished speaking to the girl whose name Maria couldn't remember, she decided she should be polite and introduce herself. "I'm Maria, by the way. And actually most Slytherins make it very clear if they don't like that I'm a Hufflepuff." She knew that most Slytherins she had met had been very outspoken about their dislike of Hufflpuff. However, this girl didn't seem to think that way.

Reagan rolled his eyes at the Hufflepuff. If there was one reason that Reagan doubted his placement in Ravenclaw, it was his short temper with students from other house. Especially simple Hufflepuff's, overly proud Gryffindor's, and complementary Slytherin's. It seemed as though two of his pet peeves were standing in front of him.
"I wonder why." Reagan said to the girl, her observation about most Slytherins was obvious. He looked at Jhudora's face, and sighed. "Reagan Cross." He said, nodding to both the girls. He looked back to his house mate, noticing the bird on her arm. "Uhh, nice bird." he said with a grin. "What did you do, drop it off the tower and it forgot to fly?"
