The Ministry of Magic
Info:
Corrupt as.. Poo. (Yes, poo is corrupt) Illy basically wants to take over and rule everything... you know, the usual.

Info:
Long established organisation against the corrupt sections of the ministry. So, they want Illy out, and anything she wants (i.e. the powerful item), they obviously want first (with the aim of destroying it).

1. The Ministry is Coming to Hogwarts

[Note: Old thread. Originally for a completely separate - and awesome =P - plot, but it all ties in with the new stuff.]

Ethelion Eriksson (previous H of M Prof.) arranges to meet Gabriel Vandesar (unspeakable) at The Three Broomsticks. He shares his concerns about the goings on the school - specifically mentioning Rainer Freundschaft (previous Charms Prof.) and his connection to the forest as a fear, as well as worries about the Headmistress being "in on it". Gabriel doesn't reveal much, but agrees that this is of great importance and needs further investigation. (Shows the growing, early suspicion of Hogwarts by the ministry.)

Rhiannon Jones (ComC) stumbles upon Dr. Munchy Bunchington (Librarian) in the Forest, realises from her ministry days that hes a famous ex-Auror. In his paranoia, he accuses Rhian of plotting against Hogwarts and announces he came to protect the school from the ministry. More struggle, Munchy revealing through his madness that he had committed murder. Rhian sends a SOS patronus towards the castle.

They duel, ending with him shouting the killing curse that, due to a hex (cast by Illyana Deitrich in the thread where Gaia DeBoer is killed - Returning Home) backfires, killing him.

Deitrich saw the patronus SOS. Meets Rhian who treats her with hostility. Rhian starts to think that Munchy's ramblings about the ministry actually had some backing and refuses to answer the minister's questions. She heads straight back to the castle library where Munchy had revealed the murder had taken place.

Thread Link: A Minister's Announcement

Illyana Deitrich (Minister of Enlightenment) interrupts dinner in the Great Hall, along with Gabriel Vandesar and Michael Lance (Auror). The minister announces that she will be staying at Hogwarts for a undecided amount of time to sort out the things in the school that the ministry is not happy with. She lays down rules about the Forest and banned magic.

Reactions in the hall are mixed, Leigh Addis (Ex-DADA) and Henry Boggleworth (Head boy, later replaced by Deitrich in As of this Moment) voice their problems with the ministry's presence. Others are unsure what to think, whilst some show support. Michael Lance warns Addis in private that he has to be careful, showing for the first time where his loyalties actually lie.

2. War of the Roses

Thread Link: The Start of an New Era

The RRL decide to risk bringing in a younger member, Elijah Ellerby. He is led to the hidden HQ to meet leader, Nicholas McNiven. Introduced to Michael Lance and Aurélie Lefevre who return from various tasks. Soon followed by the arrival of Fitz Hargreaves who updates the group on who they may be able to trust at Hogwarts. Suggestions: Addis and Rhiannon. (Ugh, that yellow and light blue look hideous together.. blergh!)

Elijah is informed further of his task, and is told to use Aurélie as his emergency contact to HQ. A final interruption comes - Marianne Crais, member of Wizengamot and asked to come to the meeting by Mike. She becomes a crucial recruit. Disagreements between her and Fitz. Meeting ends, RRL now with firm contacts throughout wizarding world.

Thread Link: Summoned

Deitrich calls a meeting of various ministry members to her office including: Michael Lance, Gabriel Vandesar, Uriel Levinston and Allen Lamb. She is quick to announce that the Minister of Magic is dead, feigning sadness. After allowing the shock to settle, Deitrich then reveals that an article under the very recently introduced Hindenberg Act, gave the role of minister to her in the case of the minister's death.

A final bombshell is that she forbids them all to let the information leave the room, revealing that the wizarding community would not be informed of the minister's death until Deitrich had sorted everything she wants. Realisation hits Michael that Deitrich had been in charge the whole time, the minister a mere puppet.

Deitrich observes all the occupents of the room, obviously suspicious. She then reveals that it had been discovered why the rogue wizards seemed to be centered on one place: Hogwarts. News had reached the ministry of a very powerful item within the school. Before dismissing the group, she is adament that the item is not to fall into the wrong hands and that the rogues must be rounded up asap.

She asks Lamb to stay behind as the others leave the room. Deitrich then accuses him of working against the ministry, knowing that there was someone betraying her and figuring that even if she had guessed the wrong man, it would send a clear message to the right one. Lamb is sent straight to Azkaban, no trial. Michael astounded by the evenings events heads straight The Three Broomsticks to round up the RRL.

Aurélie and Elijah are at the Three Broomsticks. Michael storms in and updates them with the nights news. The adults head for the HQ, Elijah for his meeting with Nicholas..

Thread Link: No Turning Back

..in the forest. Nick forced to take a more exposed route to the meeting place. Thom Moen (Uriel's Apprentice) and Quinn Locksley (Law Enforcement) who are patrolling the grounds, spot and confront him. Nick treats them with impatience. Gregory Greenwich (Quinn's Apprentice) soon joins the confrontation.

Thom demands to know why he is there, the RRL leader bends the truth to make the meeting seem innocent, before threatening the apprentice. Quinn watches on in amusement, but warns Nick after his threat.

With neither Nick or Elijah arriving at the meeting place, Fitz makes a move and stumbles upon the group of people and decides to improvise the situation. Quinn is unconvinced by both RRL members, and keeps her wand out ready. Tempers flare between the hit witch and reporter, and Fitz is stunned. Nick and Quinn begin to duel, and after several unsuccessful attacks, Greg tries to disarm Nick.

Elijah finally arrives into the scene, and revives Fitz. Nick orders the Gryffindor to take on Greg, and Fitz to take on Quinn. Thom meanwhile, announces that Nick is under arrest and performs the Cruciatus Curse under the pressure. Spells fly between Thom and Nick, and with a final strike, Thom is hit with the killing curse. =(

The RRL scatter, Elijah shocked. Quinn in shock and grief misses her chance to follow the men. Deitrich arrives.
