Carolanne continued to laugh until she caught her breath. Shaking her head so her hair would twirl with her, she spoke, "I can't," she said before she stopped shaking her head. Laney looked at Cris, "The moment is totally gone now," she said with a small laugh, "I killed it," she said with a shrug.

Carolanne laughed at Cristian, "For the simple fact that I'll be named a fool," she said, laughter still in her voice. "I look like a complete retard when I do it!" she said hiding her face with her arms. "No pouting!" she said still behind her arms.

Carolanne looked at Cristian and sighed, "I didn't mean you calling me a fool, I meant me looking like a dork. I don't do well with humiliation," she said before laughing, "Ok, I lied, I like to humiliate myself, but it has to be on my terms," she explained.
Laney shrugged, "It's this thing I do after I say 'rawr'," she said, "I impersonate some girl on a movie. It's quite funny, but my dad, well, step-dad, yells at me everytime I quote things from that movie," she said with a laugh.

Carolanne sat herself up and stared into the fire. The reds and oranges refecting off her eyes. With a sigh, she turned to Cristian, "Hi," she said with a smile. She didn't know what to say nor what to do so she just sat there and watched Cris. Biting her bottom lip, she rested her head against him.

Cristian watched her as she watched the flames of the fire burning. They were slowly getting smaller and smaller.
He thought to himself as he looked at her, he felt something, a sense of awkwardness with her, he wasn't sure what though.
"Laney...is everything alright?" he questioned.

Carolanne's eyes continued to watch the fire. Too many things were running through her head. Why was she feeling so distant? Why was Maxi always on her mind no matter how hard she tried to forget about him? Cristian's voice brought her out of her daze. Looking up at him, she gave a small nod, "I think so," she answered half truthfully.

Cristian frowned a little, not fully believing her. It was obvious something was on her mind, but he didn't want to question her any further, she's perhaps tell him in time.
"Okay" he said simply, not knowing what else to say. If she wanted him to know, she'd tell him.

Carolanne laid herself back down and dragged her feet up so they were sitting comfortable on Cristian's lap. She searched his face for something, she wasn't sure what it was yet, but she hoped she wouldn't find it. She didn't want to hurt him, but knew it was going to happen anways.
With a smile, she poked his arm, "So, you don't have anything planned for tonight?" she asked him, desperate to change the subject. "We could, er, go swimming. I don't think the lake's that cold yet," she said with a slight laugh.

Cristian had looked down, but as Laney spoke, he looked up at her as she sat in his lap.
"Yeah, sure. Sounds good" He saidin bursts. He looked into her eyes, and saw something there that she wasn't telling him. He stared for a moment before looking down and picking at his fingernails.

Carolanne sighed. This felt wrong, everything about it. She liked Cristian, yeah but not like that. He made a better friend than boyfriend but she didn't want to break his heart, she told him she wouldn't leave him but she couldn't stay with someone when she wasn't happy. It just wasn't right. Laney sighed, "I- uh, I have to go. I need to study," she said completely lying. They both knew she didn't study. Laney just needed some time to think things through. Carolanne stood up rather quickly and grabbed her book.

Cristian looked at her as she stood up.
"Okay babe, see you later. Remember, I love you." He said with a hopeful smile. He didn't know what was wrong with her, but he hoped she'd be okay soon...

Carolanne looked back at him and smiled, "yeah, you too," she said. She only hoped he didn't realize she didn't tell him that she loved him back exactly. She needed to think before she spoke those three words again. She wasn't sure about anything anymore... Laney knew Cristian could sense that. Without so much as a good-bye, she left for her dorm room.
