Kasey balanced her books on her head as she walked down the corridors. People gave her many weird stares, and Kase often was the subject of many fits of laughter. Eh, she didn't care. If every day was a new day, then why not try something different every day?
Well, what could she do now? Kase leaned against one of the walls and took the books off of her head. She could go down to the great Hall and see what was there. Or who was there. Hmm, yea, maybe she would do that.
Kasey started to walk again, this time skipping down the stairs. But, unfortunately for her, her foot snagged on one of the steps and Kase jerked forward. She tumbled down the stairs and thumped against one of the walls. Syph blinked, slightly dazed by what just happened.
She did a mental inspection, seeing if anything was broken or not. No broken bones, and everything else seemed in order. Well, except for the stinging on her knee. Kasey shifted herself so she was sitting, and she bent down over her knee for closer inspection. Seems she had skid her knee. There was already a hole in her pants, so that wasn't anything new.
"...Ow."
Kasey blew on the wound lightly, trying to ease the stinging. She needed a cold rag or something, and a bandage to cover it up. Getting those things would have to involve standing again. Oh dear. Kase grabbed one of the railings and used it to help her up. Her legs were a little shaky from the fall, but otherwise fine. She winced at the sting of her knee, and started to hobble back up the stairs, toward the common room.
"Stupid stairs."

Jac had been on her way up to the Common Room when she found herself on the other side of the castle and on the wrong floor. She laughed at her silliness and turned back to the stairs she had come up. Eventually she got on the right track and was jogging up the stairs in the right direction and on the right path to get to the common room. She was continually amazed how even after seven years she still managed to get lost.
She began to play a game with herself and jumped up two steps at a time, seeing how many she could do before needing to draw another breath. A loud thud above her head broke Jac's concentration on the counting and she misstepped, slipping and landing hard and awkwardly on all fours on three different steps. Her knees didn't like being landed on and complained loudly. Slowly pushing herself up, Jac dusted her hands off and walked up the rest of the stairs to find she wasn't the only one who had fallen that morning.
"Kase," Jac called as the sixth year stood up, "you alright?" Jac put a concerned hand on her shoulder and smiled at her unaware that she had a smudge of dirt on her jaw. "You need some help getting to where you're going?"

Kasey was grumbling under her breath as she continued to trudge up the stairs. Her knee was still stinging and seemed to grow continuosly worse as she continued. Stupid knee skidding stairs.
She heard someone else fall to the ground, and turned around to see who it was. It must've been Jac, since the girl appeared behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder. Kasey gave a little laugh and grinned.
"Tripped on the stairs and skid my knee. I was jus' headin' back to the common room to go get it cleaned up."
Kasey gestured to her knee and started back up at the stairs. "Pretty sure I can walk just fine. Hurts something fierce though." She shrugged and laughed again. Kasey was probably one of the clumsiest people in the school. Everyday was a new injury. She hurt in places she didn't even know exsisted most of the time. But, that was just how Kasey was.
"Where you headed?"

"Oooo" Jac sounded, frowning and looking down to the sixth year's knee. "Ouch," she tilted her hand and smiled. "At least nothing got chopped off," she said merrily. Silver lining stuff, Jac assured herself. Her younger brother, Lex, had always been amazed at how cheery Jac was even when faced with danger, punishment, or scary teachers. Shaking her head, Jac walked along side Kasey up the stairs.
When asked where she was headed, Jac smiled, sweeping her hair out of her face. "It's funny," she said, "we're headed to the same place. I forgot my Transfiguration essay on my bed this morning after i had finished it. Took me forever but i finished it. And then, typical me, I forget it." She chuckled at her own silliness but cringed as her knees gave a particularly violent throb.
Doubling over, Jac clapped her hands on her knees and squeezed tightly, willing the pain away. "I fell myself," she informed Kasey. "Not a good start to a day, that's for darn sure."

Kasey gasped and put one hand on her knee. "Chopped off? Since when were our stairs so violent?" She laughed and shook her head, then continued her trudge up the stairs.
"Same old Jac eh? If you worked so hard on it you'd think you'd remember it. But eh, I do the same thing all the time. It's a curse I tell ya."
She grinned and patted Jac's shoulder lightly. Kase gave her a worried look as Jac cringed. Her gaze quickly shifted down to the girl's knees.
"Ouch. You alright there?"
Kasey held out her hand to Jac. "We can lean on each other as we walk up the stairs? It'll help I think. Looks like your knee hurts more than mine does. I only scraped it."

Jac let out a deep barking laugh and raised her eye brows. "Trust me," she said in a deep voice, "you don't want to know. These steps are more dangerous and deadly then people give them credit for." She was, of course, talking rubbish but it made her laugh, which she promptly did.
Nodding, Jac smiled at Kasey. "You would think so," she said remembering how hard she had worked on her essay. Jac had inherited her family's natural love and gift for words so her essays were always very good and she put much effort into them. "I wonder," she added after a moment's thought, "can you have that type of curse removed?" More silliness
Kasey's hand on her shoulder was a comfort of sorts. Jac smiled up at her as she straightened. "Fell straight on em," she said, "was worried they'd go straight into my thighs." She laughed, joking and laughter always made her feel better. She took hold of Kasey's offered hand and nodded to her suggestion. "Good idea," Jac said, smiling, trying to ignore the pain. "Were you headed up or down the stairs when you fell?" Jac inquired.

Kasey burst into fits of laughter at Jac's sudden change of voice. She wrapped one of her arms around her stomach and used the other one to hold onto the railing so she wouldn't fall back over. It took her a moment to finally catch her breath, but she did.
"Jeezum Jac, I almost busted a lung."
Kase grinned, knowing all too well how it felt to forget something important. She had forgotten hoards of her own papers throughout the years. It just tended to slip the mind sometimes. Oh well, her teachers were usually merciful when it came to things like that.
"I don't know, but if you find it, please tell me. The world would be a better place then."
Kasey cracked a cheesey smile and laughed. Talking to Jac always lifted her spirits. The girl was just so happy. She put Jac's arm around her shoulder, then put her own arm around Jac's waist.
"The sad thing is, I was going up the stairs, and I tumbled down them. I probably scared the living daylights out of some teachers. And dang that wall was hard!"
She rubbed the back of her head and made a face.

Jac laughed along with Kasey. She loved people laughing because it always lifted her spirits, even when her knees didn't want to do that for her. Kase's joke made Jac laugh a little harder and she chortled, "I'm not that funny, Kas. Ok," she said rolling her eyes, "so maybe I am." She winked at Kasey before they continued up the stairs.
"I'll be sure to do that," Jac said. She began to wonder how you would go about creating a spell ... what the intricacies of it would be and the dangers. She was certainly not a fan of danger but she always wanted to know the risks before going into something. Even if she wasn't afforded the choice of actually knowing she always wanted to know. It rarely worked out that she did know, Jac realised when she began to think about it.
Jac laughed when she heard Kasey had actually been going up the stairs. "Oh," she chuckled, as they stepped up the final few steps. "Well, now we're up," she said, stating the obvious and smiled at Kasey. "To the common room then," she suggested.

( My long overdue post xD )
"Oh don't be so modest. Of course you're hilarious!"
Kasey flapped a hand in Jac's direction and snorted. Of course the girl had to know she was funny. Funny, smart, witty, Jac was the perfect friend by Kasey's standards. But, some people just didn't view themsevles in that way.
The two were silent after a while, as they trooped up the stairs. Jac seemed lost in her thoughts, and Kasey probably looked the same. She was trying to not trip because that would result in more injuries for both Jac and herself. And that would mean that both would need to go to the Hospital Wing. And, Kasey didn't particularly like that place.
"Away!" Kasey stabbed a finger into the air and pulled Jac along with her down the hallway. "Time is of the essence Jac my dear friend. For if we do not save your paper from the perils of the common room, who knows what will happen." She glanced back at Jac and grinned as wide as her face would allow. Yep, Kasey Syphyll was a goof.

Jac laughed. She didn't think she was hilarious, funny perhaps but hilarious to Jac sounded like there was forethought and planning that went into it. All that Jac gave that was funny was spontaneous and witty, conjured up out of the vast spaces in her head just before they are realised. Jac thought that it was more generic that way because she knew that if you forced funny it became too much and that was never funny.
Standing at the top of the stairs, Jac lifted her foot up, pulling it to touch her buttocks. She did the same to the other leg to flex the knees. She was certain she didn't have any other flights of stairs to climb and so felt confident that it would be safe to walk normally from here.
Kasey pulled Jac after her and Jac laughed. Kasey was always a little eccentric and Jac loved that in people. She let Kasey pull her for a while. She laughed at Kase's grip about the perils of the common room. "Indeed," Jac said, agreeing with a grave nod, "I heard Cerdic Goph's Transfig homework got left there and he went away. It went away as well." Jac gasped at the horrid thought. "Though ruddy ... what does Luna call them? Narguls or something." Jac shrugged. She didn't believe in those creatures and thought it was a silly business.
