The Library. The last place on earth Shafer Tobias Bourke would want to spend. It was a place where hell hid- in his mind at least. But, with the recent letter from his mother, he had no choice to go there. Bray or not, Shay was going to have to study. He didn't know where Bray was, or what he was doing. And he thought it would be interesting to see if he could study by himself. Stepping into the hell-hole, Shay attempted to sneak to the back, unseen. But, a six foot two student wasn't going to be missed easily. Sitting at a back table, he grunted as he turned in his chair, and grabbed a book. Any book, it didn't matter. He had to start studying, or it was going to resort to living with his aunt and uncle, whom were very strict, and Shafer wasn't very fond of. Cracking open the book, which happened to be something about Muggle Studies, he stared intently at the page, expecting the words to pop-up and be shoved into his brain as knowledge. After about five minutes of looking like an idiot, he slammed the book shut, and pulled another off the shelf. This one was something about the History of Magic, a subject worth sleeping. Opening the book, he stared at the page, attempting to read this time. By the time he'd finished the page, Shay's mind was pounding. "Merlin, I'm a moron." He grumbled, slamming the book shut, and closing his eyes. Placing his head into his hands, he sat there quietly, trying to think of a solution to his idiotic ways. [As you can tell, Shay's kinda has a learning disability Either that, or he's just plain stupid ... And ignore the title. It's all I could think of ._.]

Maria had wondered off to the back of the library in search of a book on muggle studies. Any book would do as long as she could learn about muggles. She knew nothing about them and would certainly fail the class without a bit of studying. Why had she even taken that class? Her parents weren't happy with her taking it; she didn't enjoy it. There was absolutely no excuse for her putting herself through the torture of it. She cared nothing for muggles.
As she looked for a book and pondered her stupidity for taking the class, she noticed a person who she wouldn't have thought to be the library type. When the boy slammed a book and looked rather defeated, Maria decided that learning of muggles could wait. "Oh, I would hardly go so far as to say you're a moron," she said walking over to the boy.
Reaching the table, Maria hopped up on it and sat down. She had always found that she preferred sitting on the tables to sitting on the chairs. Unfortunately for her, the libarian didn't much agree with her doing it. "So, what's the problem? Not-so-charming Charms? Tricky Transfiguration? Problematic Potions?" Slytherins weren't usually the ones to come to the library for pleasure, which meant that he was probably having trouble with some class.

Hearing a voice, Shay paused, debating to pick his head up or not. After a moment, he lifted his head, inhaled through his nostrils, and opened his eyes. To his surprise, the owner of the voice was sitting on the table, instead of in front of him like he thought. Clamping his hands together, he looked the girl, whom he recognized as Maria from his Muggle Studies class, and from the corridor, and frowned. "What would you say then? Idiot? Stupid? Troll for brains?" He said irritated. It was times like these, Shay was a little more angry the normally.
Lowering his head to his clamped hands, he breathed through his nose again, attempting to calm himself. "How 'bout all of the above?" He commented. Lifting his head up, he closed his eyes again. "I'm as moronic as a troll." Bashing his hands into his forehead. He sat there for a moment, calming himself down again. Did a temper run through his family, or was it just him?

Maria shook her head at the boy's anger. "Chill out. There's no need to be snippy. You aren't stupid, and besides even if you were intelligence isn't all that important. And you will always be smarter than a troll. I promise." Maria smiled sweetly at the boy, who wasn't in a pleasant mood at all. She never understood why people allowed themselves to get so upset over classes, especially people who didn't put too much effort in any way.
"So you're having trouble with school in general, then?" Maria said, thinking. "I could attempt to help, but I'm nowhere near Ravenclaw intellect or anything. I'm just semi-smart." She nodded her head. She reached over and picked up the book that sat in front of Shay. "Let's see, History of Magic. Ugh! Boring. Can't you at least choose something interesting to study," Maria said jokingly.
Jumping up off the table, Maria walked over to a bookshelf pulled down a different book. Walking back over to the table, she hopped up on it once more, and showed him the book. "Potions, one of my personal favorites," she said with a smile. Dropping the book down in front of him she asked, "Where would you like to begin?" Just then she realized that she didn't even know if the boy wanted her help or not. "That is if you want my help, of course."

Sighing, Shay couldn't help but feel a little bit touched by her words. Looking up from his little 'stupid-range', he smiled lightly. "Thanks.. I guess.." He wasn't good with such touchy moments, but at least he was trying. Laughing, he shrugged, letting his hands drop now. "It's my worst subject, I was just trying to study something. Boost my grades up a little more." Smiling a little more warmly, he now had confidence she would help him. Sure, Bray was helpful. But they usually just beat on each other, or do whatever.
His eyes followed her as she grabbed different book off the shelf, and hopped back up on the table. When the booked fell in front of him, Shafer stared at it for a moment. "Er.. I dunno. I don't, really pay attention in my classes.. And rarely attend them.." He admitted, scratching the back of his head, laughing. Looking at Maria again, he smiled. "No, no. I really appreciate your help. I just hope you can handle a dimwit like me." He grinned mischievously, and chuckled. "I'm really hopeless." Shay was probably pushing it with the whole 'dimwit' and 'hopeless' thing. She had been quite ticked that he was putting himself down before, and he expected her to tell him he wasn't again.
