Girty could not even look the Sphinx in the eyes when the next riddle was being spoken in fear of bursting out laughing. Instead she was looking at a small speck of dirt that was present on her robes most likely from when Jac blew up the door. The riddle itself was a lot shorter this time and it caught Girty slightly off guard and by the time she had run it through her head once more Jac had already come up with an answer and was searching for verification, which was a very rare thing for her to do and she knew it.
“I am very proud of you Jac.” Girty teased and rested her arm on the Gryffindors shoulder. “But I do not see why you bothered asking us, you seem to be the best at this sort of thing.”
Poking her tongue out at Jac the Hufflepuff did not sat anything else, she was confident in her friend and everything seemed to fit with the riddle and even if it was not the right answer they still had all 3 lives left with only one more riddle to go.

Jac stuck her tongue out at Girty. They were both in a silly mood it seemed. This was the best mood for them both, Jac was certain, because then very little could make them sad and that was always a good thing, she thought. Knowing Girt was right, Jac nodded and turned to the sphinx.
"It is lightening," Jac said in a clear loud voice. She held her head high and smiled a little. She felt her pride swelling within her, her hair turning a brighter share of orange. She wore her house colours proudly on her head and was proving them proud today.

The Sphinx looked on at the smiling faces. This group seemed to be getting on rather well and enjoying the task that there Charms Professor had set them. It was the Gryffindor yet again to be the first one to come up with an answer and confidence seemed to spread throughout the group and for once the Hufflepuff did not tear into the answer and instead just carried on teasing the other members of the group.
The older Gryffindor spoke up and stated the answer with such an air of confidence that the Sphinx almost wished that it was the right answer. But alas shaking its head its great mane shimmering in the light and taking a slow step forward the creature showed its pure white teeth as it opened its mouth to talk.
“I do see the logic for Lightening to be the answer young Gryffindor, however that is not the answer I was looking for.” Its gaze passed over the rest of the group. “You have two lives left.”

Jac's face fell. Incorrect. "Alright," Jac said turning to the group again, "that wasn't totally humiliating." She smiled at Girty and Alex and then at Sarie. She couldn't believe her answer was wrong. Everything fitted. She was so certain it was lightening. It doesn't ever stop, glitters, the whole nine yards. So how then could she be wrong. I suppose it's usually the most obvious answers that came to mind that is the incorrect one, she thought. I should have known it would be wrong.
"So, perhaps stars," she offered to the group, not letting her earlier blunder slow her down. They had to carry on. They were so close to the finish, Jac couldn't let her emotions get in the way of that. Her hair was gradually turning a dark shade of purple but she didn't realise it. "Just another idea. I'm not gonna say it though. I've tried that already."

Sarie who hadn't done much since the course began moved closer to Jac and Girty. "It rather sounds like a waterfall but I'm not sure. I wanted to run it by you first." She looked at the sphinx rather nervous that they only had two lives left. She began to bounce on the balls of her feet.
She wanted them to win but she also didn't want to cost them another life. She bit her lip she wanted to help in some way. She didn't really do anything in the first lesson and she was just dead wight.

Girty’s mouth dropt open as the Sphinx said that the answer had been wrong, she had been so sure in Jac’s answer she was getting ready to jump onto the next platform. The Hufflepuff’s arm dropt off her mates shoulder and hung loosely by her side as yet again the frown spread across her face as she strained her mind to think of the answer. Jac mentioned something about stars but that did not seem to click with Girty, neither did Sarie’s suggestion of waterfalls.
“The only way a waterfall would work is if it was frozen…I mean ice sparkles so you would have the glittering and it would be pointing downwards and it would melt and not rust…”
Girty shrugged her shoulders she had no idea where she was going with this one but for some reason she felt like it was the right track some how. She just wished she would think of that final word that word bring the whole riddle together.
