The golden key clicks in the door and it slowly swings open revelling a well lit room. It seems strange that a room could just appear from a pile of rubble were before there was nothing but the rooftops of the castle, but then again this was Hogwarts and nothing ever was simple. Stepping over the threshold and into the room the howling of the wind stops, the air is sweet and in the distance you can hear running water.
The room itself is a hexagon and on each of the 6 walls is a locked door, each one different colour, shape and size and they are connected but a path that runs around the edge of the room wide enough for two people to walk side by side. Part of the floor space seems to be missing, pits each containing a different substances, lava, water, wild nettles and custard. There are two crossing bridges that divide up the areas and in the centre is a platform with an oak table placed in the middle.
Upon the table are 4 hour glasses and slowly as each individual enters the room the corresponding coloured beads for each of the Hogwarts houses drops down. As you move closer you notice that there is scrap bit of parchment placed in front of the hour glasses and it reads:-
‘The key to your successes is in your hands!’
Ok guys so the rules are the same as before:-
1) Dark Magic is forbidden 2) If you use of the Accio spell expect a fate worse then death (points off you house *shock shock horror*) 3) No special abilities can be used…so I do not want to see any cute little cretures walking around where students where meant to be...otherwise the dragon may eat you!!!
Oh yeah and the first person to enter the thread was the one who unlocked the door!!!
Hufflepuff = 5 (30) Ravenclaw= 20 (38) Gryffindor= 25 (48)

(The person who unlocked the door is no longer on our team =P But Ef was suppose to be following straight behind her.. therefore this makes some sort of sense, heh. Hope you dont mind, anyhoo =/)
Girty had told her to go ahead, so Effie cautiously stepped through the doorway, squinting from the sudden change in light. Slowly her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room, and her mouth dropped open slightly. She was standing in a rather impressive hexagonal room, which was made even more impressive by the fact it had been a pile of rubble only a moment ago. 'Guys, you've got to see this!' She called back through the door to the rest of team, before gazing around the room once more.
The Ravenclaw gradually began to absorb the rooms features, with her attention immediately being drawn to the centre of the room where a large oaken table was stood. She took a couple of steps forward, and unexpectantly stumbled. She shot her gaze down, and raised a eyebrow to see she had almost stepped into a pool of water. Glancing around at the rest of the floor, Effie saw a tangled mess of nettles in one corner, bubbling lava to the left of it, and something that looked oddly like- 'Custard??' She smirked.
Taking the central bridge, she walked to stand in front of the oak table that had been so prominantly placed. Upon it were four hourglasses, though she hardly gave them a second glance when noticing a small scrap of parchment on the table.
'The key to your successes is in your hands.' She read out loud, furrowing her brow into her concentrating expression. Effie repeated the sentence several times in her head as she slowly circled the table.
She stopped with a sigh, her gaze suddenly focusing on the mix and match doors on the walls that she hadn't noticed before. 'The key to your successes is in your hands.' She muttered, a smile slowly forming on her face. 'Literally?' Could it be that cleverly obvious? She thought, before turning to face the entrance to wait for the others. This was a teams game, and if stage 2 was anything like stage 1, they would have to work together.

Sarie walked in behind a Ravenclaw she didn't know very well. She read the parchment. "Hey does he mean our wands?" She asked looking at teammate. "Or is that to obvious?" She looked over the edge of the wholes in the floor. "I think Hubbles a little too much time on his hands.
She looked at the doors around her wondering if there was a clue on them so she headed to the right and to the purple one. Hoping there was going to be a clue

Jac was beginning to feel the heat and as they were using all the moisture in the air their efforts to keep the fire at bay were becoming less and less effective. The fire lashed out at Jac and she jumped backwards just as she noticed the door had been opened. Without thinking, Jac grabbed Girty's sleeve and pulled her out of the room of fire and into the much cooler room. Jac turned to look back at the room before the door closed behind the group just in time to notice her own sleeve was on fire. Quickly grabbing her robes and wrapping them around her arm, Jac patted her arm furiously. It took only a moment for the fire to be out but she could feel her burn skin. She scrunched her face up in pain but didn't cry out, she clenched her teeth tightly and dropped her her knees, sitting on her feet and cradling her burnt arm. Effie went deeper into the room and Jac was reminded of why they were there. After taking a moment, Jac could no longer feel the heat from the fire on her skin except for the seared fore of her right arm she pushed herself up, arm still wrapped in her robes. Jac's bubblegum blue hair turned dull and brittle but she didn't complain, she merely followed Effie along the bridge. Looking down Jac notied a thick yellow substance to her left and a pool of water to her right. Hugging her arm a little tighter to her, Jac moved to stand next to Effie and picked up the parchment scrap. ‘The key to your successes is in your hands!’ Jac didn't have a good mind for riddles but the mention of keys sparked her curiosity. Jac looked past the sixth year and to Sarie on her other side, listening to what she had to say. Looking back to Effie, Jac said in a bit of a hoarse whisper, "what you thinking, Ef?" She could tell the Claw was thinking, the clogs in her mind were moving and being put onto the task. All Jac couldn't figure out was what about.

It had to be one of the first times in her life Girty had decided that her brother had clearly gone mad, and if it had not been the helpful tug from Jac Girty would have stayed fighting the fire most of the day. But as it was she was pulled into the newly appeared room by her friend and her mind soon wondered as she looked around in total bemusement, her wand held limply at her side and she looked from one door to the other trying to catch her breath back. It was then her ears tuned in and she heard Sarie mention how Dan clearly had to much times on his hands, but the more Girty thought about it he always dropt hits about how he was working on something big, how it would be something to be remembered and he was not half wrong. Vanishing platforms, magical fire and now a room full of doors and...Custard.
Girty sniffed the air and let the sweet smell fill her lungs before she ran to the side of the pit and just looked at the yellow liquid with a bemused look on her face and it took a lot to reframe herself from jumping into the custard and achieve one of her many childhood dreams, to swim in custard.
However Girty’s attention was soon snapped back to the others in the room and the hour glasses on the table but it seemed the others were more concerned about a small scrap of parchment. Resting her chin on Jac’s shoulder Girty read the parchment over it and snorted. Dan had lost it.
“Well then Ladies…lets try and find the sanity in between all this madness.”

"Hey Girty, what do you think the doors have to do with it. I know we need to find the right one and why are different colors? I wonder if they're locked. She knew she was missing a step some where she was hoping that the doors had more of the riddle that was on the parchment.
She joined her team mates back at the table. She wasn't a riddle master but she could find the clues and everyone put them together knew the doors had some thing to do with it.
((srry the post are so short but I have finals this week some my mind is rather dead))

(I'm now scared I've got this completely wrong Liz, ahaha. Ah well =P)
Effie looked to the others on the team, to see what their immediate thoughts were. Sarie, a younger Gryffindor, made a fair suggestion but the Ravenclaw's instinct was that their Professor had made much more of a pun than that.
'The key to your successes is in your hands.' She repeated with a smile looking from one team mate to the next. 'Or more accurately, the key to our successes is in my hands.' The Ravenclaw smirked and slowly raised her hand to hold up the key she had used to open the original entrance.
'It's worth a shot.' She said with a shrug. 'Any takers?' Effie held out the key in front of her, with a gleam in her eyes and an eyebrow raised suggestively. If her hunch was correct, the key she was holding out in front of her was going to allow them through the other doors of the room. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time she was wrong.
It was at that moment when she realised she was in, by far, the most fun lesson ever. The Professor had put on a vast show, and Effie had to admit she was an extremely impressed audience. Her eyes flicked to the table for a second, interupting her thoughts and putting a small frown on her expression. 'The hourglasses.' She voiced. 'I'm guessing they have some purpose as well..'

Sarie nodded at the Ravenclaw. "I think your right but which a door does it fit. I think the hourglasses show unity. I mean they all fall at the same time. It may mean we need team work we have to go all at the same time. I not sure thought just an idea." She never really talked so boldly in front of this many older students she was only a second year but it was worth a guess.

Jac stared at the parchment in her hand and ran the phrase through her head again and again and again. As she did she listened to what the others had to say. They spoke sense and Jac's attention was drawn to the four hourglasses on the table before her. Feeling Girty's chin on her shoulder, Jac's blue eyes flickered to her side and she caught the colour of the two pools to her left. She shifted her stance to face the two pools and a smile came to her face. She walked around the other side of the table, staring at the other two pools.
"Look," Jac said, "the pools." She looked at each of her team mates, waiting for them to catch on. "Their colours," Jac insisted. The looks she was getting clearly showed they weren't with her yet. She sighed and let her arms hand at her side, her robes falling behind her again. She took a step towards the lava filled pool. "Look, this one's red," she said, pointing at it, "and that's yellow. That one's green and the other is blue." She pointed at each of the pools with her left arm as she mentioned them, the excitement on her face growing brighter as her hair did too, bluer with every passing moment. "Those are our house colours. Red, Yellow, Green and Blue, the colour of each of our houses."
Suddenly, Jac's excitement fell and her arms hung limply next to her, her right arm beginning to throb slightly. "That's all I've got," she said, distractedly. "Someone try the key in the doors. Only way we'll find out if that works."

Alex was watching in utter bemusement what was going on. He couldnt help but laugh and watch as everyone tried to figure out which door the key was from, "Maybe there's some connection with the key and the hourglass" He smiled then looked over at Jac, "Or we could just go shove it into every whole and see what happens?" He watched the scene unfold before him, "Call me a backwards Ravenclaw if you like, but I do not understand how 'The Key to Your Success is in Your hands' is so obvious" He smiled, "Or maybe my brain is on the fritz today who knows?"
He walked over to the nearest door and tapped on it lightly, sounded like a normal door to him, but in a place like this you couldnt be too sure. Alex walked over and looked at the keyholes, "You reckon these keywholes are different somehow? Or am I just... Being thick?" He laughed standing up again, listening as Jac pointed out the colours of the pool By golly the girls a genius! he thought to himself as he walked beside Jac. "So, who is going to try to unlock the doors then?"

When Jac heard Alex speak, she turned and looked at him. Jac snorted a laugh and nodded. "That's just how I'd do it." Jac lifted her hands defensively and smiled, her bubblegum blue hair falling around her face. At Alex's next words, Jac's arms dropped to her sides and she looked to Effie, who was still holding the key. Jac walked to her and took the key, studied it as she turned it over between her fingers. "I reckon they are different," Jac said thoughtfully, still looking at the key. "And it could be that the key has nothing to do with it..."
Jac looked up and shrugged. "I'll try em," she said and looked up at Alex. Turning on the spot, Jac looked at all the brightly coloured doors. "Which door though," she said slowly. The one closest to her was green and she decided it was better then any other. Walking to it Jac held out the key and put it in the lock. It went in with little complaint and she turned it, waiting to see what would happen...

((The key goes in the lock…..now why did I not think of that!?!?!?! )) The key fits in the lock with little complaint but as you try to turn it there is not click instead there is the distinct sound of cogs turning then silence…then an almighty crash sounds out aound the room. Both the key and the holder (that means you Jac) fly across the room….lets just hope you do not land in any pits that correspond to your house…[/font]

Jac listened for the click that usually follows a turning key but in stead a mechanical grinding sound echoes from to door. Jac's eyes went wide as she was suddenly flung across the room. She landed awkwardly on the brigde between the custard and water pools, one leg tight deep in the water. She had landed on her chest, her cheek bone smacking the floor of the bridge. Her face scrunched in pain and she pushed herself onto her knees. Her hand moved to her stomach and it was now plane that her cheek had an inch long cut on it, bleeding slightly.
"Ok," she groaned, pushing herself to her feet, "I'm not doing that again." As she came to full high, Jac stretched her body. Relaxing, she turned and faced the table, the people and beyond all of them, the door with the key still in it. "So, not the best idea I've ever had." Her leg was cold from the water but nothing else seemed to be happening to her.

"You kidding me Jac thats a good thing we could just use process of elimination. So we know the greens no good. Mind if I give it a shot." She asked hoping this was stupid. She didn't a flame freezing spell. "Do you think a shield spell would do any good against the fire?" She rather not burn to death today if she could help it. There where no hints of which door maybe the right one the school colors didn't mix to a good color so the door wasn't some thing like that. She knew the hour glasses had something to do with it but what. She sighed maybe she was thinking to much.

Alex went over to Jac and bent down to see if she was okay, "Are you alright?" he asked. Taking the key he turned it around in his hands and looked at the key closely, then took in his surroundings. "Wait a sec" He said, looking around the room with the key in his hands, he took in the appreance of the doors and slowly a smile crept on his face.
"I think i've got it!" He yelled holding the key above his head, "Look at the key guys, it wouldnt work in the green door, because the key is a golden colour" He smiled and walked around them, "Of course this is just a theory and if im wrong and i die. My will is in my trunk at the bottom under the lining" he laughed.
Alex walked over to the golden coloured door before turning to look at them, "I'm thinking it wouldnt work in the green door because the key isnt green. The key is golden, so if my theory is right, the key should open the golden coloured door!" With this, he pushed the key into the lock on the golden door and turned it. Hoping to god he was right because he so didnt want to die just yet.
