The drafty corridor was deserted. Fallen paper, someone's precious notes, fluttered lazily about driven by the wind gusting through an open window. It creaked back and forth and together with the wind was the only real sound that could be heard. The glass was smooth and clear, except for one pane where it had been shattered, and now there were only jagged edges.
A hand suddenly gripped the window ledge clawing for grip, it found a hold then another joined it, holding dearly onto the splintering wooden pane of the window. A grunt was heard and a head poked appeared peering cautiously through. The strain was clear on their face as they dragged themselves up, pushing the window open and dragging themselves through. Landing heavily upon the cold stone flagons the man waited patiently a moment to catch his ragged breath. Looking up and down the corridor he saw not a sole but still rose quietly, peeking his head back down to look at the dizzying drop. "I ain't doin' that again," he muttered darkly pushing the window closed and grimacing at it's squealing hinge. "Shush up." He murmured replacing the latch and looking about. Trying to recall his bearings his small smile showed his adrenaline rush and he crept to his right randomly deciding that was the best way. His boots rang out upon the stone flagons and he cursed himself for not choosing more suitable footwear. He'd have summoned more but he wouldn't put it past the school to have sensors for any magic expended.
He couldn't risk that now could he?
Stepping as lightly as he could Catt still oved along quickly sweeping past doors he knew to be locked. Well he was only guessing but something in his gut told him they didn't hold what he was searching for. Now he just had to make sure no little urchin sneaking the halls heard him, if he could remember the school well enough then the room he wanted would be just around this corner.
Just where the approaching footsteps were coming from. Cursinghis luck Catt looked about for a hiding place, but even the moon was out to get him as it shone brightly, there weren't even shadows to slip into. So coming to a standstill Catt folded his arms and gave his very best lecturing look. With any luck he'd be mistaken for a teacher...

Bradyn walked along the desterted corridors to his next class. He talked casually to Bry who had insisted on this being a short cut to Charms. It may be, but it was pretty creepy that there weren't any people walking around this part of the castle at the time. "Bry, is this one only faster because we don't have to skirt through the crowd?" He sighed. Bradyn glanced around, he could almost feel that they weren't alone anymore. Maybe some people were up ahead and this wasn't a super-secret way.
He relaxed a bit and grinned at Bry. He enjoyed talking to her even though they haven't known each other--well, called themselves friends--for long. She still had to be the silliest of his friends but isn't going through life with a positive and fun attitude the best way? [kinda sucks ]

Briar laughed out loud, "Shortcut to class? Are you kidding me? I only said that so you'd come with me. I'm just getting you to skip class," she said with a grin. "I found this place yesterday when I skipped Divination. I thought it'd be fun to check out," she said grabbing his hand and pulling him futher.
Suddenly she stopped and stared at the shadow of a man that stood in front of them. She folded her hands over her chest and glared at him. "If you're gonna bust us for skipping, you'd better get it over with," she said adding a yawn at the end. "I've had enough of professors that go around following students," she said, unaware of the actual situation.

Two students rounded the corner before the rogue and he looked sternly down upon them, using his commanding look that worked so well with his men. But these were kids, teenagers in fact, though he guessed they prefered the term young adults, which meant they were unpredictable. Why they wanted to be known as adults already Catt couldn't care less, personally he had loathed becoming an adult, for then he'd got responsibility. That had been a bad day when that had happened. All innocence lost.
The girl mimicked his folded arms and he chuckled, raising an eyebrow in mock surprise, he should have known they'd all have attitude. "I think ya'll find I ain't following you. You stumbled across me," he stated with his usual air of confidence.
With a smile now he cast aside his stern look and responded with a laugh "But I ain't gonna bust your ass...not this time. An explanation of quite what you're up to would be a kindness, but I won't insist." With a brief nod to each he went to brush past them, of course things would never be that easy, would they?

Bradyn laughed, of course. "Ahh, fine. We'll skip class, nothing really happens in it anyway. And we're we going? This empty old hallway can't be it." Bray stopped dead and looked at the man who seemed to just appear around the corner. Bry addressed him as a professor but he of course knew better. "Haven't seen you around here before, and there aren't any new professors that I know of. You don't belong here, do you?" He said seriously, inspecting the man to try and see what he was up to.
"Instead of asking us for an explanation, I think you should be coming up with your own right about now." He said, moving to block the man's way so he couldn't pass. Seeing strangers in the corridors wasn't a good sign; it either meant trouble or ministry people which usually brought trouble. He glanced over at Bry to try and convey that this man really shouldn't be here.

Briar looked at Brayden than at the man, "Wait, where do you think you're going?" she asked him, stepping infront of him. "All three of us obviously know that you don't belong here," she placed a hand on her hip, "We would honestly like to know what you're doing in our school, if you don't mind."
Being a careless girl, Bry was completely ignorant to danger. This man could whip out his wand and jynx her and she'd think it was heartless fun. It's not that Briar didn't care what happened to her, she just didn't see the point in worrying. She looked at the man and raised her eyebrows, "Well? We're waiting," she said tapping her foot.

Obstacles, there were always so many obstacles to overcome, these pair were just another thorn in his side, but his plans were strict and to a certain time scale, he therefore couldn't afford to stop and chat, much as he actually would have liked to. Smiling Catt's piercing eyes drifted from one to the other, they were curious and careful it was only natural. "I applaud your cautiousness, but you've really nothing to fear from me," which was the truth, it was unlikely they'd really get in his way. "But remember the Ministry is allowed wherever it wants to be, we have access to all areas." He grinned delving into a pocket, "don't worry I'm not getting out a wand, no need to be so jumpy." From his inside pocket he took a small wallet, flipping it open the two before him would see precisely what he wanted them to see; an authentic identification card that proved he worked for the Ministry. Forging one was immensely difficult and expensive, luckily Catt knew the right people.
"As ya'll well know we're guarding the school, no other explanation should be necessary for you." Pocketing the ID Catt put his hands on hips, "now if you don't mind I'd like passage past you." Smiling Catt's persona was nearly flawless, they really wouldn't be able to get through his disguise all that easily.

Briar looked at the card then at the man and started laughing, "You have got to be kidding me!" she said, a little too loud, "I'm sorry Sir," she said trying to control her laughter, "but I've been to the ministry plenty of times and I've never seen you there before," she looked at Bray and shrugged, "What? I get in trouble alot," she said explaining herself.
She returned her gaze to the man that stood infront of her and Bradyn, "If you were truly in the Ministry, why would you have to break a window to get in?" she asked pointing to the broken window glass, "I mean, if you had such a strong influence on the school, you'd think that any ministry personal would be able to just walk in the front doors," she said staring at him.
((I'll change it if its wrong... but did Cattrim break the window?))

(ooc he did but they're quite a way from the window by now, as he'd already crept a little way off from it. I'll roll with it though =) )
Kids were always, always trouble he had to remember that. Then teenagers were just plain troublesome. He'd hoped scaling the wall had been the hard part, apparently not, persuading these pair he was legitmate was the actual difficulty. But he had a way around it still.
Finding her reaction amusing Catt smirked then looked at her incredulously, "ya'll telling me you've been in every department of the Ministry?" He scoffed giving her an amused grin for her troubles. "But ya'll won't have seen me there, cause I ain't a normal Ministry official, I'm a tracker, no special branch or nothing, just more off the books as it were." He chuckled then came the problem of the broken window, trust her sharp eyes to notice it. "Nothing to do with me that." Even if they checked for prints he'd be long gone, and he somehow doubted they had the capability right now. The average witch and wizard didn't know spells to show up fingerprints. He was just in that line of work, and it was crucial.
"I did walk through the doors, but mainly I'm kept rooting around the forest, searching for tracks and the like. Takes a while I can tell you." Smiling at the girl he nodded at her then finished smartly, "now my superior will need to be seeing me, if ya'll wouldn't mind?" Once again he went to breeze past them...

Bradyn glanced at the ID, his dad had one but it didn't look like that. "Did they get new ID templates, because I believe that the watermark (the shiny seal thing.) is perfectly centered, whilst yours is definitely to the left." He said after the man pocketed his wallet again. Bray glanced at Bry, since when did she go to the Ministry?
The way he just continued to calmly explain everything to him was what bothered Bray most. Ministry people that he had met were always so mysterious about their work; they'd flash their ID and then be on their way. Would it really be so crucial for a couple of teenagers to believe him? "So then you're inspecting why the window is broken, because you suspect rogues from the forest did it? Or are you just going to act like you never saw it was broken and carry on with your duties?" Bray moved once again to block the man's way; this time with his wand drawn just in case the man wouldn't be so kind about his way being blocked once more.

These little urchins were beginning to get Catt's goat, whatever he claimed they saw through; the shrewd little blighters. Generally he'd have congratulated them for having quick minds and being all suspicious of people, but not when it was to his detriment. He visibly rolled his eyes and fixed the boy with a look of annoyance when he claimed his ID wasn't quite right,of course it wasn't it was from a less than reputable source, so he pondered about acting as if he were a snotty nosed Ministry Official, they alway thought kids were dumb, but Catt knew better. So he tossed aside that idea and decided to just come clean, if they got in his way then that was their look-out.
"Good going kid," he spoke affectionately now, smiling quite happily, and above all actually genuinely, ruffling the lad's hair he grinned, "ya'll saw right through me, but you know if I had been a Ministry Official they really would have dealt with you pretty harshly, so don't jump to hasty conclusions." He chuckled it wasn't as if the boy would listen to a word of good advice, they always believed they knew better.
"So what I'm going to do is go right on past you this time, you got it? I'd love to stay and answer all your questions, really I would, but I've far more pressing matters." He spoke rather kindly, but guessed the kid wouldn't let him past still; he was gripping his wand fiercely and suspicion was still written all over his face. With a grin Catt chuckled "see you again sometime," spinning upon his heel he set off in the other direction, walking calmly away at a reasonable pace. He half expected the boy to do something daft like hit him in the back, were there no gentlemen about these days? Catt knew he'd have to take a longer route around, but it was easier than talking his way past the two curious students, far easier.

Bradyn wondered if he should have pointed out the fact that it was a fake ID, since Bry was sure to over-react in her usual ways. He would have to fix it now and keep her out of danger in case the man decided that talking wasn’t going to work on them and that he would have to fight his way through.
Bray furrowed his ‘brows in confusion at the change of tone in the man’s voice; it was friendlier now, almost as if he appreciated that Bray saw through his lies. “Aye, but I have connections in the damned Ministry.” He grumbled after he finished smoothing his hair back. Bray looked away awkwardly after he realized he had cussed right in front of Bry, what a gentleman he was today.
Bray thought about hexing the man so they could continue their conversation, he was quite intrigued about the man who broke into the castle now. But instead he pocketed his wand and grabbed Bry’s arm to drag her along. Bray walked swiftly, almost at a running pace to catch up to the man’s long strides. “Pass as you wish, but we are coming along on your illegal adventure through the castle. Just in case you need some backup, you know.” He said after he caught up to him.

Bry raised an eyebrow in Bray's direction when she heard him cuss but shrugged it off; it wasn't as if she never let one slip before. Before she could finish her thought, she was being drug by Bradyn after the man. Briar woulda been just fine leaving the conversation as it was, but smiled at the word 'adventure.'
Bry gave a soft laugh, "Ooo, yay, an adventure. You never can pass one of those off," she said aloud, more to herself. She looked at the man, "Sorry, Pal, you're stuck with us," she said with a grin.
