(Corridors) New Student

[Polaris Stormwrath]

"Well, if you can turn in to an animal, it must mean you're an animagus. Probably a mental block making you stuck? Perhaps you need more study?" Polaris asked as she tilted her head. Today was turning out to be quite odd..

He stared at the boy who seemed interested in him a little to much. "um...I'm Katric Ratkom." He said, a little hesitantly. "And, uh, the mental block seems to be the common diagnosis, but well, when someone tries to remove it..." He stopped talking there, almost refusing to go farther. But he did anyway feeling he can trust these people. "They...die." He said finally, but just barely audible. Of course he was leaving out significant detail about their deaths but, he didn't want to scare or hurt the first people who seemed to like him even a little bit.

Briar gasped, "NO WAY!" she shouted, "People have actually died trying to help you? WOW!" she said genuinly shocked. After a moment, the smile returned, "Well, halfy or not, you're still pretty sweet," she said trying to grab his tail.

She looked at Bradyn and smiled, "Hi," she said sweetly. For some reason, she acted weirder around Bradyn than anyone. She looked at Pol and bit her lip, "Can he be fixed" she asked about Katric, "Or do you not know?"

[Bradyn Reed]

Bradyn put his hands in his pockets. "Pol, it's not a mental block, don't insult him." He said, kinda feeling bad for the kid. Doing all the work to become an animagus and then having it almost taken away from your must really suck. "I've read about the halfy's before, doesn't something just not go right in their transformation and it's only half complete?" What a nightmare that would be, the poor kid.

Death to those who try to fix it, aye? For some reason he didn't quite beleive it, but the way the kid seemed to shrink back and sulk about it made him beleive it. "Wow, man, that's got to hurt."

[Polaris Stormwrath]

Giving a slight shrug, Polaris looked Katric over once more. "If he says people have died when trying to unblock his mental wall, then I'm not even going to attempt it. They were experts, I bet, while I'm just an animagus by birth. I've never gotten stuck before." She replied, somewhat saddened. "He can live with it though, doesn't look like it's hurting him much."

Briar's face suddenly went pale, "I'm not feeling so well," she said as she stood there. She tried to focus on a spot on the wall but the wall became blurry. She didn't really like thinking about death but because of Katric, she couldn't get it off her mind.

"I didn't really try to transform and get stuck, I've always been like this, As far back as I can remember I've been like this." He said as he shrugged a little bit. "I don't know what's wrong with me, or what I am, other than a freak." He finished and began to hang his head, trying to hide a tear.

[Polaris Stormwrath]

Polaris frowned as she put an arm around Katric's shoulders. "Hey, cheer up...you're not a freak. Each and every one of us has something different and unique. You'res is being half an animagus if that's what it's called. Mine are my eyes." She spoke to him gently while looking to him, showing him her eyes at a closer angle. They were odd, her right eye was a pure, ice blue orb while the left was a shimmering emerald in colour. "See? I'm sure Bradyn and Briar have their uniquities as well."

[Bradyn Reed]

Bradyn frowned. "Well, obviously you're not a freak. There are people a lot worse off than you. You're just different, but I'm sure some people are jealous of you having cute little ears or something." He said, more sharply than he intended. He was a bit annoyed by the kid wallowing in pity. Bray raised an eyebrow at Bry and moved over towards her in case she fell or something.

Briar looked at Bradyn and smiled then looked at Katric, "You're not a freak, no one is. The only reason there are 'freaks' in the world are because people are afraid of what they can not understand and decide to put them into a group that they made up. There's absolutly nothing wrong with you," She said putting a hand on his arm.

Katric was touched by her words. She didn't think he was a freak, none of them did. His face then suddenly grew into a large smile and he pounced on top of her in a large hug. And then preceeded to to the same to the other people, no not other people, his other friends.

[Bradyn Reed]

Bray laughed a bit, well at least it didn't seem like a pitty party anymore. He frowned awkwardly as he too was hugged. "Hey man, don't go around hugging other guys, that's kind of weird but I'll let it slide this time." He scolded, but he was grinning and laughing a bit.

Bradyn looked back at him and asked the question that he was really wanting to ask for a while but it was kinda rude or awkward or just too private. "By the way, who did try to change you back? Another animagus? A group of wizards? Just one wizard?" Bray stopped asking since he sounded like a creep, but he was really curious. He hadn't really heard of someone permanently being a half animagus.

Katric looked down. He started to think about all the deaths he had caused, but had to shake his head to get the thought out of his head. It was just to depressing and scary, and He really didn't want to hurt his new friends.

"Well, over time it was a group of wizards, and some animagus as well, while most of the wizards knew what they were doing...kinda. The Animagi were really clueless. One turned into a gnat and flew into my brain. His death was different than the others, by drowning in brain fluid. I think he needed to see what a brain actually looked like, since he didn't have one himself." Katric laughed at his own joke. It was the first time he had actually laughed in quite a while. Maybe forever, he couldn't remember.
