Walking around the corridors, Shay looked out the nearest window. Snow had covered the edges of the windows, and was now building up more and more. A smug smirk lay on his face as he turned his head back forward, so he wouldn't run into a wall or something. He recently had decided skipping out on one of his morning tutorings with Bray. Bray had been attempting to teach him the charm that would stop cornish pixies when they went on a rampage. During the past few times he basically blew up their recent tutoring spot, and the pixies had nearly destroyed everything in their path. He knew Bray would eventually come looking for him, and kept up with a fast pace.
Hearing the voices of students walking down to the Great Hall to eat their breakfast, Shay decided to turn the opposite way. Hands behind his back, he continued looking out the windows. Though snow was everywhere, the day seemed like it would be nice enough to get out later, instead of freezing to death.
To busy looking out the windows, he collided with something. Something hard. But not hard like a wall, more like, another person. Well, whatever he hit, it caused him to stumble back, tripping over his own feet, and falling down. "Damn!" He shouted, laying flat on his bottom now. Looking towards the object he hit, he noticed it was a person. "Er.. Sorry.." He mumbled, embarrassed a little.

Maria fell to the ground after colliding with another person. She grabbed her ankle quickly as she felt a sharp pain go through it. Sitting on the ground with her hands holding her ankle, she heard the boy apologize. She looked up at him. It was a Slytherin boy whom she had seen around the school, but had never spoken to.
"It's all right," she said, with a slight grimace as she moved her ankle. Well, it wasn't broken, at least. "Ugh!" she said, taking her hands from her ankle. "I don't suppose I'll be making it to the pitch for a quick morning fly today," she said looking at her ankle with a sigh. She had been wanting to make a habit of practing her flying regularly but it didn't look like this was a good day for that.
"Oh well..." Maria looked at her ankle a few more moments before looking back at the boy. "You could be a gentleman and help me up you know, since you did so rudely run into me," she said with a bright smile. She hadn't been paying any more attention to where she was going than he had been, so that statement wasn't completely true.

Standing up, Shay scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Seeing as the girl was now clutching her ankle, he winced himself. "Sorry." He said again. He wasn't all for physically hurting people, accident or not, he was more of a verbal type of guy. "You sure it's not broken?" He asked, as she attempting moving her ankle. When she removed her hand, he could tell it was a little swollen, but nothing to major.
Taking a better look at the girl, he noticed he'd seen her around the school. She was a Hufflepuff, obviously. And he believed she was a year older then him, but he wasn't quite sure.
Only at her comment, did it make Shay feel worse. "Oh, alright. I guess I could do that..." He grumbled, reaching down, and grasping her hand. "Do you need me to take you down to the Hospital Wing?" Shay asked, hoping if he'd ask her, she wouldn't hex him or something like that.

The boy helped her up, grumbling in the process. "There is no reason to grumble about it," Maria said as she stood. She tried to stand up straight, but pain shot through her ankle. Leaning against the nearby wall, she shook her head.
"Oh, I don't think a trip to the hospital wing will be necessary," she said looking back down at her ankle. She had never been much for going to the hospital wing. It was her least favorite place in the whole castle. "But thanks for offering," she said with a small smile which quickly faded.
Looking from her ankle to the boy, she tried to relax a little and ignore the pain. Managing a smile and a friendly voice she said, "I'm Maria, by the way. Maria Turolia." The boy was cute and looked to be about Maria's age.

Shay smirked a little, and gave a shrug. "Hey, I could've left you there." He said, stating the obvious. He watched as the girl leaned against the wall. "You sure you're okay?" He asked again, a little worried. He leaned on the wall as well, letting his head hit the wall gently.
He watched as the girl looked at her ankle again. She seemed pretty tough, considering she was a girl. Most girls would've wailed in pain, and demanded to be brought to the Hospital Wing. Looking up as she said her name, Shay smiled. "Shafer Bourke. But you can call me Shay." He said, extending his hand.

Maria shook the Shay's hand with a smile. "Well, it's lovely to meet you Shay." She glanced down at her ankle and then back at the boy. "Yeah, I'll be just fine. It's probably just a little sprain, nothing to be at all concerned about." Maria bit her lower lip as she tried putting a little weight on the ankle to see how much pain it was going to cause her.
She quickly leaned back against the wall, deciding to stay there for a few more moments. Besides, she didn't think that walking would be very easy right now, and she certainly wasn't going to risk this boy insisting that she go to the hospital wing over something so ridiculous and he seemed a bit worried. "So, Shay, you're what like a fifth year or is it fourth?" she asked curiously, trying to keep her mind off her ankle. She knew he wasn't a sixth year, because she knew who most of them were by looking at them, but he couldn't be much younger than her.

A grin spread across Shay's face. "If you call running into you, and nearly breaking your ankle lovely, then it was lovely to meet you too, Maria." He replied, chuckling. Watching as she attempting putting weight on it, he laughed slightly. "Sprains are the worse. May not be as much pain as breaking something, but sprains will hurt a lot longer." Shrugging his shoulders, he realized it would have been smart to keep his mouth shut.
Chuckling again, Shay smiled. "Being concerned is one of my mother's genes. But it only seems to happen when a girl's hurt, not so much around guys." Glancing down the hall, hearing voices, he watched as students were walking to what seemed to be breakfast now. "Fifth." He said, shrugging. Shay was pretty tall for his age, which made him seem more intimidating to younger students. "You're like.. seventh, right?"
Looking out the window, he thought back at Maria's words about going to the Quidditch Pitch. "You were going to go to the pit this early?" He blurted out. Whoops. He thought, glancing at her. He had a tendency to blurt thoughts out now and then.

Maria giggled a little at the boy. "Come now, it wasn't completely your fault. I was just as much to blame as you. I wasn't exactly watching where I was walking," she said with a shrug. "And you certainly don't need to be worried about me," she said as students passed by going to breakfast."Not quite yet," she said answering. "I'm a sixth year." Watching the boy look at the window, Maria giggled when he blurted out his question in what seemed like a rather accidental manner.
"Yeah well, I enjoy flying. Besides, I'm a beater and believe it or not, girl's don't have as much strength to work with when swinging those bat's around and sending bludger flying, so a bit of practice and strategizing is required." She smiled at the boy. It couldn't be that surprising that she would practice this early. There was no way she was the only one.

Shay shrugged as well. "Neither was I." A little grin lay on his face "And I can worry about you as much as I want. I basically injured you." He crossed his arms, trying very hard not to laugh. Nodding at the fact she was a sixth year. "Ah."
Laughing, he turned on his side, so he was leaning on the wall with his shoulder. "Really? I've always wanted to be on the team, just never really bothered to try." He said, chuckling. "Is it fun being a beater?" He asked, curiously.

Maria tried to look annoyed when the boy said he could worry about her as much as he liked, but she couldn't quite manage to get rid of her smile completely. "You did not injure me. It was my fault, and no, you cannot worry about me. I will not stand for it," she said with a resolute nod, even though she knew very well that she couldn't keep someone from worrying about her.
"Are you kidding? Of course it's fun being a beater. Who wouldn't want to be able to hit bludgers at people and it be perfectly okay," she said with a smile. She knew that it probably wasn't a good point about being a beater fore everyone, but that was why she chose to be a beater. "I mean, honestly what could be more fun?"

Smirking at her reply, he put his hands in his pockets. "I'm still taking the blame. But if you don't want me to worry 'bout you, I won't." By now, he was smirking wildly. He expected Maria to either say he could, or ignore it completely. "Oh, and no matter what you say, I'm still taking the blame." He teased.
Listening to how she explained being a beater, he grinned. "That does sound fun." He really never payed attention to Qudditch, he was usually spacing out, and cheering or booing whenever his fellow Slytherins did.

Maria shook her head a bit at the boy's smirk, and his stubborness even though she was just as stubborn. "If you wish to completely blame yourself you are perfectly welcome to," she said with a smirk of her own. "I, however, won't blame you because it was not your fault." There if Shay wanted to be stubborn and insist upon blaming himself, then Maria would let, but she would never blame him.
"And know that I am only letting you blame yourself because I have better things to do than stand here and convince you that it wasn't your fault. Even though I am right and you are wrong." Suddenly Maria realized that she had completely forgotten about her ankle during their conversation. The pain had dwindled and was hardly there anymore. She pushed herself off the wall and stood up, favoring her hurt ankle, of course. However, this time the pain didn't cause her to lean back against the wall. Ignoring the slowly increasing pain in her ankle she looked over at Shay with a smile because of her small success.
