Walking down the corridors, Ace had found the most interesting article. Tucking her blond hair behind her hear, the Ravenclaw sixth year looked the object over passing it from hand to hand. It was a very interesting thing and she had no way of even guessing what it was. It's marble colouring was shiny and it's surface smooth like it too. It felt heavy but looking at all the arms and levers that cam out of the centre sphere. At what Ace assumed was the top, was a small hole that you could look into but all that was inside was darkness.
Ace tossed it up in the air and caught it when it came down. Its size belied it's weight for it was a lot heavier then it looked possible. "Hmm," Ace mumbled contemplatively, walking along a warm corridor bathed in afternoon light.

Having just come in from an afternoon stroll of the school's grounds, Lorenz walked down the corridor in his self-absorbed way. He hardly noticed anyone he passed, except for the occasional friend or pretty girl. Boredom was starting to set in, and he realized that he would soon have to find some way of entertaining himself.
Paying closer attention to what was around him, Lorenz noticed a lovely girl coming down the corridor toward him. It was a Ravenclaw, who he had seen around before. If he was right, she was a year or two older than. Immediately he noticed that she had some object that she was tossing into the air and catching.
Going over to her, Lorenz smiled his most charming smile. He noticed that she was mumbling to herself, but that wasn't uncommon among Ravenclaws. They all had so many thoughts to sort out. "And what do you have there?" he asked curiously to get her attention.

Acelin only half heard someone speaking to her. Her mind, eyes and thoughts were on the peculiar object that she was handling. It was such a funny little thing that she hardly saw the boy in front of her. Ace looked up just in time to see him before she walked into him, with a little nudge. She squeaked and stood back. "Oh, I'm so sorry," she said with a little giggle, her Irish accent heavy in the warm sun. "I didn't see ya there. You shouldn't sneak up on people like that."
She looked back at the funny thing in her hand, the levers pocking between her fingers. She held it up at face level and looked at it, before looking at the Gryffindor just past the object. "No clue," she said with a broad smile as though it were an achievement. "D'you think ya know what it is?" she asked, sending the Gryffindor a sparkling smile. Ace held the object out to the boy with an enquiring look.

Lorenz laughed lightly at the girl. "I wasn't sneaking up on anyone. I fear that you just weren't paying attention to what is around you." He smiled. The girl was obviously Irish with that accent.
Lorenz looked at the object that the girl held in her hands. She did seem awfully proud to have found the strange object. He shook his head as he examined the thing. He didn't have even the slightest idea of what it could be.
"No, I do not believe that I would know what it is," he said still shaking his head. "Is it often that you are picking up strange things around the school?" he asked curiously. It didn't seem the safest thing to do, picking up peculiar objects in a magical school.

Ace laughed and nodded. "Aye," she chimed, "you more then likely weren't but it's always fun to say that you were." She laughed and tossed the object up in the air, catching it behind her back. Her catch was smooth, practiced, ought to be after growing up with three competitive, sporty brothers but that wasn't common knowledge. Though she had been complimented on her ball skills this boy didn't know anything of it so her little show was purely for his benefit.
She held it up in front of her face again to take a closer look at it. "It's a very strange object though, don't ya think?" Ace said slowly, focusing very hard on one lever of the object. "I couldn't rightly leave it on the floor, now could I?" With her free hand, Ace reached up and took hold of the lever she was staring at intently. "I wonder what'll happen if I pull this," Ace mumbled to herself and lightly pulled on the lever, her last three fingers in the air. Deep within the spherical centre a ticking noise began and was entrancing as a clock.

The girl seemed so bubbly and happy, that Lorenz couldn't help but laugh with her. He watched as she tossed the ball up and caught if very skillfully. Not only was she beautiful but athletic too, impressive.
"Yes, very strange," he answered shaking his head as she examined the thing closely. He knew that he wouldn't just leave it sitting on the ground either. "I do suppose you have a point. If you didn't pick up someone else would have come along and picked it up."
Lorenz knew she was about to pull the lever just seconds before she pulled it. Watching carefully to see what would happen, Lorenz furrowed his brow as the thing starting ticking. "Interesting," he said staring at the object.

Acelin's eyes were pulled away from the tickling tendriled object and to the Gryffindor in front of her. She smiled widely at him as the ticking continued in her ears. She liked this guy, he was funny.
"Exactly," she said, with a burst of a laugh, "and someone else having found this interesting trinket would have left me empty handed and bored and that would not have done any good." She tossed it up again and caught it in the other hand. She couldn't believe her luck at finding something as mind bogglingly fascinating as the piece in her hand. She moved it from hand to hand, looking all over the object from all angles.
"Interesting."
Ace looked back up at the Gryffindor and smiled. "Isn't it just?" she chuckled. Suddenly she stuck out her free hand and grinned, "name's Ace. Acelin McKnight. Pleasure inspecting interesting objects with ya." She smiled at the guy in front of her, hand firmly outstretched for a good old fashioned hand shake.
