The day that many feared and loved at the same time had arrived after an agonizingly stressful week at the Reed house. There was cleaning everything from top to bottom, the two youngest boys being rather unlucky with their incapability to use magic, and then there were the decorators that seemed to march in and out by the dozens under the strict orders of the bride-to-be, Rosalie. For a while, Bradyn would be able to sneak out for periods of time and hang out at Fay's with her and Ash but in the end he was put on permanent lock down. Complete with a countdown clock in the kitchen and even more taunting if Mayella Reed that would cause her to lash out. Bray was still surprised that she didn't have a gaping gash across her face to walk down the isle with, he was quite sure that his sister would give her something to 'remember her by', and not just the explosives he found as a wedding gift to her. He could still imagine what May would've said about Rose's present from her being "the bomb" or going off with "a bang".
He was aloud to bring only one guest, and he guessed that was a place that was supposed to be his date, but he just invited Fay instead to help protect him from the insanity to his family. Especially his grandmother, oh how he loathed that woman who just had to come in three days ago to drive the already tense atmosphere into insanity. Luckily, that was alleviated when Fay and May had to go out on a last minute shopping excursion when they finally realized they couldn't go to a wedding in their undergarments, what idiots but at least they got... bonding time? No, nevermind, it was just crazy.
The ceremony had gone by flawlessly, besides the constant hissing from May and the crying children and old ladies that found it just so beautiful. Bunch of nonsense to him, but he was still happy at the idea that Rose would be leaving their house for much longer periods of time. Of course, his favorite part of a wedding would have to be the reception, where everyone was actually aloud to talk and drink and be merry while celebrating the bonding of two crackpots, I mean people, in holy matrimony. The general rule to his immediate family was 'Keep Grandma Eileen away from the whiskey. At all costs!' so she was sitting with most of them around her. The crazy old bat, couldn't get a thing straight.
Dragging the overly-dressed up Fay and May who still looked like she could cry if there weren't such hot guys around over to her table, he plopped down in a chair. "Evenin', Nana Eileen. Did you enjoy the ceremony?"
"Who are you, and why the hell are you coming over here to bother me?" She snapped in her horrible, evil voice but it was barely discernible through the thick Irish accent. In her green suit, Bray was instantly reminded of a leprechaun when he saw her.
"U-uhm.. I'm Bradyn, you know, you stayed at my house for like.. 3 days before today." He said nervously, not really sure why she would just be ignorant rather than critical.
"Not you, mongrel, that tall lanky girl who reaks of Veela. Is she the family whore?"
Bray decided not to answer this and just glanced at May who was sitting next to him, ignoring the whole conversation as she was too consumed with glaring at the floor. Why she wouldn't just find some cute guy to dance with and distract herself for a while, he didn't know, or really care. Normally, he would be out dancing with the veela cousins but that just didn't seem worth while anymore after knowing Fay for so long...

Was it weird for her to be excited over a wedding? One reason could be the fact that she had been stuck in her house with Ash for most of the summer, and she had to listen to his constant rant about how there was nothing to do. Was he serious? Did he even look around the house?
None the less, Felicity was ecstatic when Bray had invited her to the wedding. She had nearly been bouncing off the walls for the rest of the week. Ash hadn't been invited though, probably because Bray's sister didn't really like the fact that he was gay. So, Ash had been sulking for the rest of the week. Whatever, Fay was going to be at a wedding!
The day before the wedding, May had invited -- dragged actually -- Fay shopping for dresses. It was a long, very intense shopping adventure. And, a little round of truth or dare had Fay charming one of the sales clerks, and May managed to get him to give them the dresses for free. That girl had a diabolically amazing mind.
The wedding had gone rather smoothly, save for a few sobbers and some old woman commenting rather loudly how the wedding was so adorable. Bray and Fay had hardly said a word to each other since she arrived at the house. They didn't have much chance to really, because May pounced on her once she arrived and dragged her off for hair and make-up.
Now came reception time, and Felicity was briefly told about how Bray's granny had a little 'drinking problem.' What did that come down to? Keep Granny Reed away from whiskey at all cost. Shouldn't be too hard right?
Fay took the seat next to Bray, and had to keep herself from snorting at his Granny's outfit. Was the dear old bat colorblind or something? She covered her mouth with her hand and pretended to cough. God this was too good to be true.
"Not you, mongrel, that tall lanky girl who reaks of Veela. Is she the family whore?"
It took all she had for her eye not to twitch. The family whore? Thanks so much for that Granny Reed. Way to make a person feel welcome.
"Actually, I'm a friend of Bradyn's. I'm Felicity Locke."
May hadn't said anything either, and Fay glanced over to her. Wow, someone should document this moment. Mayella Reed was actually not talking.
( Yes well, you're an amazing person Nicole )

May continued to stare fixedly at the ground, obviously in a bad moment from the moment Rose said "i do" and not looking forward to having to stay in the same house as her. Who knows what would go on? First, there would be a long round of mocking against May, but all of it cheerily as Rose had a few too many glasses of wine. Ohgod, her room was right next to Rose's... she was sleeping on Bray's futon, three doors down, for sure. Pfft, Fay and her could easily share it.
Reaching her leg out and letting her high heel scrape against the cobblestones noisily, she sighed and looked back up towards grandma evil. "She's one of my students, and if you remember I teach Transfiguration. Felicity's a fellow Ravenclaw, I'll have you know, Nana Eileen." She was always much more respected than Bray, and the idea of Fay having to stand up for herself was rather hopeless.
Bradyn's eye tried not to twitch at Fay's responce, which he thought needed another fifteen layers of respect to be acceptable for talking to Grandma Eileen, but then again, she wasn't really aware of their customs. He'd love to put it off as a Reed thing, but Eileen wasn't a Reed. He let a side-long glance fall over to the Reed side, and his father was sitting at a poker table playing with the rest of them. The thing was that his father was one out of triplets, and Bray never could pick him out from his brothers. Therefore, he was obsolete and he wouldn't be able to find him tonight. Ah, well, it's not like he ever needed the useless chunk of flesh.
Returning his gaze back to grannie who now had a discontented frown on, he nodded at their comments. "She is, quite a respectable lass, if I do say so myself."
Eileen's eyes just narrowed towards Fay. "Ravenclaw, aye? Quite incorrectly sorted, for I've never met a filthy Veela that was intelligent. She's a friend of your's, Bradyn? Surely, you must cover your papers better, because she must be copying off your work." In a way, Bray could take this as a compliment to himself but it was definitely an insult against Fay. Again.
Glancing around the guests for another savior to distract Eileen so Fay, May, and himself could flee to someplace less synical. He caught his mother's eye over by Rose and her new husband, and she just gave him a pitying smile and turned away. Some help she was, but at least she got the S.O.S. Even if it wasn't her priority, she'd come over and save them quite soon. Fee had a talent for that, always letting the sibling fights go to a certain point before she'd break them up at the perfect moment. The Ultimate Mom Sense, that's what May called it.

Felicity slid her gaze over to May as she scraped her heel against the floor. She resisted the urge to flinch at the sound, and just looked back at the granny who was glaring daggers at her. Someone needed some happy pills, and stat.
Fay sent a greatful look May's way, which was certainly a rare sight indeed. Bradyn also popped in with a comment, which caused a small blush to rise to her cheeks. Bray wasn't really one who complimented often. It was usually implied -- and hidden behind his layers of sarcasm-- and Fay had grown used to that. Felicity nervously brushed some hair from her eyes.
"Quite incorrectly sorted, for I've never met a filthy Veela that was intelligent"
Her back stiffened instantly, and her hands clenched the table cloth near her legs. Luckily, most people couldn't see her hands at all. The nerve this woman had, actually questioning her sorting. But, Fay had to remember, there were other people that didn't accept 'her kind' as readily as many Hogwarts students had. After a moment of contemplating on her part, Felicity's hands unclenched and returned to being folded on her lap.
Any retort Fay had on her tongue, she bit back. It would be dreadfully rude to argue with Bray's Granny. She would just have to sit and take the abuse. Reflecting a bit, Felicity realized that at this moment Ash would either be in tears, or jumping up to scream and fight with the Granny. The Claw had to keep herself from smiling at the though. No wonder Bray didn't invite him.
Felicity took the moment of silence to look around the room. On one side was a group of Mr. Reed look alikes, which was slightly daunting. The other side seemed to house a lot of the cousins. Many of which happened to be guys. Apparently, by the unwritten laws of weddings, guests outside the family were fair game. Unfortunately for Fay, several cousins were nudging each other and gesturing to her. Oh dear. She nudged Bray's leg under the table, and glanced over to the guys again.

Silence, that was Fay's only reply to the barrage of insults. Good, she's definitely caught onto how to deal with this old bag of bones. This was definitely the major reason he brought her, besides her just being a good friend of his, she was also witty. In a way, Bradyn was mostly using her as a shield since he knew his grannie hated half-bloods. But in actuality, Bray never really got complaints from her probably because he was the only son and would carry on the family name, even though it wasn't her own.
Mayella coughed awkwardly, feeling that it would be her job as the oldest one present to stand up for Miss Locke. And she did kind of owe the girl for dragging her all the way to Dublin on a shopping excursion just to get free, and gorgeous, dresses. But it was definitely a high point of her break thus far, besides shoving Rose's face into the cake which was sure to happen before this night was over.
"I believe the standards for the houses have been lowered for most of the houses, especially Slytherin, but the Ravenclaws have remained quite prestigious, Miss Locke included. There's rarely been a student who could think on her feet so well." May threw an honest smile over to Fay, knowing that she and Bray must be embarrassing her. "And if she's drop-dead gorgeous as well, then that's just icing on the cake."
Grandma Eileen's mouth actually twitched a bit in response to May's comments, and Bray couldn't quite tell whether that was the shadow of a smile or a scowl. Only her words could tell, and he knew that they wouldn't be nice. Yes, only by the level of hatred in her words could you tell the true emotion that flickered for a second and he was sure Fay wouldn't be able to interpret it.
"Well, that's all fine and dandy, Lady May, but being quick on your feet tends to lead to being an excellent liar." And shockingly, Eileen gave a rather sadistic smirk towards Fay. "Not a bad aspect at all to have, if you know how to use it. Most of the Higgins are terrible liars." He raised an eyebrow at this. Did this mean that he figured him and May, as Higgins decendents weren't lying about Fay because they were incapable of doing so? Bray shifted uncomfortably in his seat at the realization that this was very, very off and that they were usually able to lie at all times. A good talent, I think not.
Even May's eye twitched a little at the expression and she had to advert her eyes for a moment. It was unnerving, seeing nana actually smile as though something pleased her. But it was fitting that lying, to someone other than her, would be pleasing to her. Maybe even throwing ants into the fire under her cauldron would be amusing, or at the very least it wouldn't surprise her at all.
Bradyn's eyes glanced to Fay as she nudged him and he had to turn slightly to see where she was indicating to. Oh, a group of Reed cousins. This should be fun, and it will show the third reason Bradyn Reed invited Fay to the wedding. Letting his arm drape over the back of his chair, he glanced back towards the guys and let them catch his eye and chuckled as a few of them dropped their jaws in the same expression he made a lot. Leaning over towards her just to make a remark about this --though from the cousin's angle it might look like he was giving her a kiss on the cheek, not like he planned that or anything -- he whispered, "There, took care of them."

Felicity's cheeks reddened ever so slightly at the compliments she was receiving. She glanced up at Nanny Eileen just in time to see her mouth twitch. Fay glanced over to Bray, then back at his Granny. Somehow, she couldn't fathom how he was related to her.
The smile was she receiving from Nanny Eileen frightened her, to be perfectly honest. And the comment didn't go down well with her either. A good liar? Meaning she was a deceiver. Sly, tricky..just like a Slytherin. Was this witch of a woman comparing her to the Slytherins? Oh no she didn't.
Yet, even through all of this, Fay still remained silent. Whatever she would say would only upset the old hag even more, and cause a whole new round of problems for them. So, she just clasped her hands on her lap and remained perfectly silent. But, she still bit down on her tongue to keep the retorts that wanted to spring from her lips silenced.
Felicity stole another glance at the cousins, and noted their jaws dropping. Blinking, she turned her gaze back to Bray, just noticing his arm around her chair. Fay had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at him. This was like his silent way of bragging to his cousins. It was probably some freaky macho guy thing that she would never understand.
"My hero." She whispered back with an added hint of sarcasm in her voice.
As she started to turned back around, she saw a fleeting glance of Rose. It was strange, the whole time she had been here she had never even had a word with the girl. Fay hadn't even been able to congratulate her yet, because she was dragged over here to watch over the alcoholic Granny.
