((I apologize for the delay...just started university...I was becoming adjusted...lol))
Cassidy strolled into the empty classroom with a small smile playing on her lips. SHe was oddly excited for today and didn't qutie know why. Possibly because they would begin learning about the eldar futhark today and as everyone in history knows...the older the better!
She smirked as she organized her notes and leaned back against her desk. Today's class, she decided, would be a good class.

Sarie hurried up the hall. She didn't want to be late for Ancient Runes. She enjoyed it a lot. She turned in to the class room. "Afternoon Professor." She said pulling out all the things she need for class.

Alexis walked into the room and there was no smile on her face as she entered. It wasn't that she disliked the professor or even the class for that matter it was just that she wasn't good at it. That seemed to bother her a lot especially since she was a Ravenclaw she knew that didn't mean she had to know everything but it made her feel inferior when she didn't.
The professor was sitting there and Alexis took a seat far in the back. Always the better not to be noticed. Smiling politely even though her heart wasn't in it she started to take out her things waiting for everyone else to arrive.

Ginny had been in a great mood that day. The new term was beginning and somehow she had made it to her seventh year and the kicker Gryffindor Prefect. If only her older brothers could see her now. Ginny was known for getting into trouble which is why she thought that would never happen but somehow she had a shiny new badge with the letter P on her robes.
Entering the room she noticed a few other students were already there, nodding to them she took a seat up front. The teacher was at her desk doing whatever it was teachers did before classes started. As Ginny caught her eye she said cheerily.
"Good morning Professor Gainnes how are you this morning?"

She smiled as her class began to fill up, and by fill up she meant 3 students. Although Runes had never been a particuliarly popular course due to it'd abstract nature she had hoped to gain a few more students then this.
"Afternoon Sarie," she said with a smile. "Good day Alexis."
She moved to the front of her desk taking her notes with her. "I am just lovely Miss Weasley," she replied with a kind smile.
"I do believe we shall wait a few moments. Perhaps a couple others with decide to attend."

Erys was in a good mood, having scolded a few youngsters who decided to try and trip a Slytherin in the hallways. She was only just getting used to this prefect business, but so far she was enjoying it. Why, she could dock points from the other houses! She'd need a reason of course, but that would come in due time. Her house was currently in the lead for the house cup, so there was no point in rushing to stall the other houses just yet. Adjusting her bookbag on the other shoulder, she thought this on the way to her next class, smiling.
Ancient Runes, to be frank, wasn't her favorite class. But because Professor Gainnes had been a Slytherin, and understood the prejudice against them, Erys couldn't help but favor her over the rest of the faculty. Apparently Professor Vance had been, as well. And Professor Croll! Well, at least three adults knew how hard it was. Striding gracefully into the room, her narrowed eyes slid over the assembled students before landing on the beautiful woman. "Professor Gainnes." The animagus greeted with a warm smile, before taking a seat near the back. Sure, she loved participating and planned on doing it, but she couldn't deny the back of the room. It was where the Slytherins went, if they were cool, at least.
Taking out the necessary supplies, Erys tapped her finger against the desk for a moment, wondering if she would be stuck with the Gryffindor and the Ravenclaw. Where were her Slytherins? At silent mention, she started thinking about Joshua, and Veata. V hadn't been speaking to her as of late, probably ashamed of her because of that liking Joshua thing. It unsettled her, but she was starting to get used to her best friend's absence. She missed her, though. She hadn't seen Joshua around much either, but he hadn't died or anything, Erys was sure of it. He was either visiting his parents, or.. On a fieldtrip? Bah, she didn't know, but she missed him too.
Figuring now was time to focus, the teenager snapped back to the present, completely forgetting her birthday was coming up. Sometime in October, too. It always managed to slip her mind.[/color]

Another day another class thought Angel as she walked down the hall to...Racking her brain she tried to remember where she was supposed to be. It seemed to have completely slipped her mind until she heard someone say they needed to get to Runes class. Yeah that was it. Oh well she better make her way there before she was late.
Climbing stairs she reached the corridor, pulling her rucksack further over her shoulder she found the right room and entered. Placing a smile on she said hello to the professor, before trying to see who was there. A Ravenclaw and two Gryff's no fun at all, then looking in the back she spotted the only other Slytherin Erys. Smiling for real now she walked over taking the seat right next to her.
'Glad you're here. I was afraid I'd be in a sea of riff raff.'
She said quietly giggling a little after the statement.
'How are you doing?'

"All right ladies, let's stop the talking and start the learning!" she said giving them a thumbs up and cheezy grin. Had she been a student she probably would've sent a curse in the teacher's direction. She laughed aloud at the thought.
"Today we'll be learning about Eldar Futhark, which is as we established the last class, the eldest known runic form.
"It was used by the Germanic tribes for Proto-Norse and other dialects from the 2nd to 8th centuries. It's usually found on amulets, jewelery, and ancient weapons.
"Muggles used runes because they believed their Gods would protect them in battle, or give them luck.
"Now would anyone care to hazard a guess as to why wizards would use runes?"

Ginny had been sitting in her seat for an inordinate amount of time, only thing was she hadn't been paying any attention to what ws going on around her. She had been busy fantasizing about other things, another person actually. She was doing that more and more these days and as much as she enjoyed daydreaming it was starting to interfere with life. Things were going on all around her like now and she wasn't even aware of it.
Despite knowing that she should stop what she was doing, she kept on the fantasy seemingly getting better and better. That's when she heard professor Cassidy's voice. Her mind stopped in mid thought as if she were a muggle VCR, and soon it started to work again as if someone had hit the play button. Her mind was now clear and she was ready for action.
Although, the question that was just asked she had no idea what the answer was, which was why she chose this time not to raise her hand, there were probably several good reasons why wizards used the art of the runes but she wasn't sure of any of them at the moment. Perhaps one of her school mates would know that way she could write it down and keep it in safe keeping for the next time she was asked.
