[Alexis Heart]

Sometimes Alexis felt a bit ignorant when it came to the wizarding world. For some reason she always thought that brothers and sisters were placed in the same houses, it just seemed the natural thing to do. Apparently it didn't happen all the time, so her face registered shock when she heard that Rus had brothers in Slytherin House. Alexis didn't really know any Slytherins and from what most of the other students said it was with good reason. She wondered if Rus' brothers were any different from the ones she noticed in the halls often with wands out hexing the younger students as they passed just so they could have a chuckle with their mates.

Curiosity burned inside her, 'So how do you and your brothers get along then? Do you think you sister may be in Slytherin too? If she's here in Ravenclaw with us we'll well that is to say I'll help look after her,' she had stopped herself from answering for Acelin.

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell couldn't help but smile at Alexis. She seemed to be thinking very hard about something. He had never seen anyone concentrate so hard. But Alexis asked about his brothers. His smile fell and he looked away from the two girls. "My brothers are not exactly what you would call caring," Rus said, staring into the fire, "they think of themselves first and only."

Rus looked to Acelin. With their families being close she knew how his brother's were. He turned to Alexis and smiled. "But we have our moments," he said, "they're loads of fun when they want to be. And I doubt she will be in Slytherin. She's too kind hearted for that. Hufflepuff, maybe, like mum." Rus smiled at Alexis's offer to look after his sister. "I'd really appreciate if you would, even if she isn't in Ravenclaw. She can be very dreamy when she wants to be."

Alexis stared at Russell while he spoke. It was getting a bit harder and harder to do since the longer they say there the cuter she thought he was. He had this dark hair and these dreamy eyes and his voice, it was a real nice voice. Realizing what she was doing she closed her eyes and shook her head trying to actually listen to him instead of staring dreamily at him. It took her a moment after he started talking about his brothers to realize who they were. The twin boys from Slytherin, masters of trouble they were. She couldn't believe that she hadn't connected the dots until then. Those two were notorious around school she couldn't believe they were related. Russell seemed so sweet and they were mischievous for lack of a better word. It was weird in families how some children were so different despite being raised by the same parents and having the same rules.

Apparently his little sister was different and by the way he spoke of her he seemed to adore her, so Alexis wanted to make sure he rest assured that she'd be ok. 'Whatever house it is Rus I'll do whatever I can to help her. Don't worry so much she'll be fine here.'

Acelin smiled at Russell as he spoke of his family. Laura, his sister, was the sweetest girl Ace had ever met and the smartest ten year old around. Acelin absolutely adored her. She looked at Alexis and saw the dreamy way in which she looked at Rus. Her smile grew as she looked from Rus, who wasn't paying attention to the two with him, back to Alexis. However, when Al looked away Ace looked back to Rus.

He had a point about his sister not being in Slytherin but all Parkhurst always had a way to surprise you when you least expected it. "Of course we will," Ace piped up and grinned at Alexis. "Laura's a sweetheart, absolute angel." She looked back to Rus, smiled less enthused. "I'm sure she won't be in Slytherin but you know if she is that Aid and Ry will look after her because they love her as much as you do." She winked at Rus and turned to Alexis. "Our families are close," she explained at her look.

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell smiled at the two girls. It was very sweet of them to offer and he would hold them to it. He sighed and stared into the fire for a moment. Then he suddenly stood up and clapped his hands. "Well, ladies," he said looking from the one to the other, "I've got some more assignments to do so I best be off to do those." He smiled at Acelin, winked at her, then smiled at Alexis.

Two beautiful ladies, two guardians for Laura. He sighed again. "Alexis," she said, taking a step towards her, "it's been great. Wonderful to meet you." He picked her up so she was standing and gave her a hug. When he let go he smiled at her and said, "we must do this again." He put her back into her seat and nodded. Then he took his leave, headed for the door and left. While he walked towards the library he thought how much Laura would like to have two such lovely ladies looking after her when she can and was happy that they were there for her.

Alexis had a strong feeling that Acelin could tell what she was thinking or what she was feeling at the moment. It made her feel slightly embarrassed but it also made her feel like well perhaps she had someone to talk to about it later. Again she nodded at the agreement to protect Laura.

Then something happened that almost made Alexis pass out. Russell picked her up off the chair and hugged her. Granted she knew it was nothing more than a friendly hug in her mind, but in her heart well it was something entirely different. Soon she could feel it beating a hundred miles a minute and she was sure that she had all but forgotten how to breathe for a few short moments. When he put her back down her eyes were wide and her mouth was opened for mere seconds before she shut it again tightly her mouth forming the tiniest of lines. This was a first for her, a boy had never effected her that way and she wasn't sure what to do about it.

As she watched him leave she soon turned to Acelin, 'Lord did I just make a fool of myself or what?'

Candy stepped into common room she was reading this sort of Gothic novel it was so exciting and fun she had the picture of the events in her head like a little movie, she had her eyes so glued to the book that she didn't realize where she was going and she tripped going head first hitting the cold stone floor , as her book went flying and she gasped as it went flying directly to the fireplace but missed for a few inches Candice gave a sigh of relief before she felt that pain on her face going down like an electric snake down her body "Ow" she exclaimed but decided to stay down until her head stopped spinning

Alexis was sort of sitting there now day dreaming. She was thinking of Russell and her eyes were all glassy, she looked drugged up or something but she had no idea. She was just getting to a really good part when she heard what sounded like a small crash. She snapped out of her trance like state and saw that someone had tripped and fallen. 'Holy cow' Alexis said as she got up and ran over to the girl. Kneeling down next to her she looked to see that there was no damage done, 'Are you alright, I heard the fall and it sounded bad. Can you get up? Do you need help?'

She looked over at Acelin her face showing how scared she was.

'Yeah I'm fine, I was just waiting for the blood on my head to flow down my body or else I'll get really dizzy" Stated Candice 'But thanks for asking though" Candice exclaimed as her brown eyes moved to one side and glanced at her book glowing with the light of the fire she walked towards her book and picked it up then she went back to face the girl again she gave her a warm smile, and looked at her she looked a bit younger than her but not that much so she was guessing she was either in 3rd or 4th year.
"I'm Candice Ventura by the way but everybody calls me Candy" said Candice it was never too late to make an introduction

Russell had decided to leave with quiet a start and Acelin was huddled on the floor, laughing at Alexis as he left. "Ya sure did," she chuckled as Alexis looked back at her. She had never seen Russ had such an effect on someone before, oh wait, there was that one time and that one and that one. Ok, scratch that! Acelin giggled. Russ had a charm about him that he didn't even realise he had, it was quite amusing to see him in action when he didn't even know he was in action.

Ace was abruptly dragged out of her thoughts by the sound of crashing body and the sight of flying book. Ace, lightning reflexes kicking in, stretched out a hand and caught the book. She was attracted to books like white on rice and she looked at the cover. "Hm," she said, looking interested but then looked at Alexis as she jumped up and ran to the girls aid, the one who had fallen.

Ace put the book next to her on the ground and tried to see over the couch. Luckily for her she didn't need to stretch too much as they came back into the firelight so she could see who the girl was that introduced herself as Candice but changed her mind and told them to call her Candy. " 'ello," Ace crocked, her heavy Irish accent resonating, "name's Acelin and that's Alexis. Abbreviate as ya will." She smiled at Alexis, winked and turned back to Candice, smiling.

'Hi" replied Candy toward the girl who said her name was Acelin but Candy who was trying not to laugh but burst out laughing anyways "sorry I didn't mean to laugh is that my brother makes this mean Irish accent when his girlfriend is around so yeah sorry" said Candy with a smile but once the taught of her brother invaded her mind the smiled faded, every single year at the beginning of the term Candy would miss her brothers and father a whole lot. It was like a challenge but then again Candy loved challenges, and her main one other than making friends was to be strong.
"Well nice meeting you Ace you don't mind me calling you ace right?" Asked Candice her tone a little sad now
" Nice meeting you too Alexis" said Candy towards the other girl and then she collapsed in an armchair a little farther of were the two girls were sitting, Candy stared at the cover of her book and gave a sad sigh

Alexis had never seen someone fall and not be upset by it. She wondered if this was normal for her to do. Breathing fast from all the excitement she decided to sit back down. Looking from Ace to Candy. Well her day seemed to get more and more interesting the more time she spent down in the common room. Why hadn't she begun to do it sooner. She made a fool of herself in front of a really cute older boy and she saved a girl who had fallen. All in a days work for Alexis' the thought made her giggle. She looked around 'Sorry I do that from time to time. So Candy are you sure you're ok. That looked like a nasty fall.'

She seemed to look a little sad and Alexis wondered if she had been hurt. Perhaps a trip to the nurse might be in order for her but Alexis didn't want to push her if she was telling them she was ok. She tilted her head looking at Candy.

" Huh? oh yes I'm sure I'm OK I'm used to falling " Candy assured Alexis who still looked scared " are you sure you're OK?" asked Candy with an eyebrow raised, then shrugged a little and then returned to staring at her book but her mind was really thinking of her brothers and her father she could pictured them laughing as always telling jokes with the wrong punchlines, Candy felt her eyes watering and her cheeks getting warmer, she turned a little and wiped her face quickly before anyone could notice or so she thought.

Alexis was watching her closely she seemed bothered and she wasn't sure if it was because of the fall or something else. As she watched she could see the tears forming but the girl quickly turned her head away from them. Alexis' heart lurched and she felt terrible for her realizing they didn't really know each other or anything she chanced it anyway. Getting up she moved next to her. 'Look I know we've just met and all but you seem to be bothered by something. Maybe...Well maybe if you just talk about it a little you'd feel a bit better. I'm a great listener and well who knows it might help out. What do you say?'

She looked hopefully only because she hated to see anyone hurting for any reason. There was no need for it not when you had people around you could talk to who would be willing to help you out. Waiting she looked at Candy hoping she wasn't about to be rebuked.

Candy looked at Alexis and hesitated for a moment, Candy took a deep breath to calm herself down she hated the moments when she was vulnerable. " Is stupid really" Candy said " Is my family every time I'm away from my father or brothers I missed them and can't focus on anything else we're together most of the time, I'm in my 5th year you'll think I'll be used to leaving them" she exclaimed with a small chuckled at the end, Candy still didn't understand how can someone be so nice and caring. "Is so weird to talk to someone about these, or about anything for that matter most girls think I'm a weird tomboy and don't really talk to me you're one of the first to be nice to me actually..... Thanks"Candy said and gave a smile as sweet as her name "By the way I don't act like these on a daily basis" Candy finally added.
