Sophie's erratic movements upon her broom drove her ever downwards, she would nver get the hang of this broom, not in a million years; all gadgets and no front line or cornering speed at all. Thankfully braking wasn't a major concern with the Twigger 90 when compared witht he awesome speed of the Firebolt itself, or even Cleansweep it just couldn't compete.
So why had her confounded cousin bought it her, the thought was lovely, but clearly he either knew nor cared little of actual flying. Always too obsessed with money and status symbols was Fitz, no wonder he had brought this astonishly shocking and pricy broom. it did look very nice though, its reputation somewhat ruined the image though. Nevertheless she had been enthralled when her dear journalist cousin had offered her a clearly broomstick shaped present for Christmas, the smug look upon his features hadn't dampened her high spirits and he had even got a quick hug for his troubles. Until he had mentioned the price more than once and reminded her the reasoning for buying it; to write a performance article upon it, he did so like to tease. How he had imagined his article could foil people into purchasing such an incompetent broom above a Firebolt, she couldn't fathom, but he had a way with words.
Now jolting to a rather abrupt and untimely halt she jumped from the broom with as much agility as she could muster, thankfully upon solid ground her grace improved considerably as she balanced the broom upon her shoulders and headed for the stands for a short breather; hopefully people would turn up sooner rather than later as already the weather looked rather grim and forboding, dark clouds beginning to swirl above thankfully they were still high in the sky though.
Giving the lightest of sighs she decided against venturing up into the dizzying heights of the stands, being afraid of heights wasn't all that good as Quidditch Captain but luckily with a broom beneath her worries disappeared, especially with the anticipation and excitement of a game; she was always so bubbly and cheery before a game commenced a smile never leaving her face. Though she herself didn't much like practising she guessed others would very much need it and she needed to try them out fully.

Jac was on the ground, her broom over her shoulders and her arms hanging loosely over the ends of the broom. She watched the person in the sky dash from this side to that, with an amused look on her face. If only I had a bat and a bludger? she thought maniacally, picturing the bludger whizzing off and hitting the end of the person's broom sending them into a head first free fall.
Jac laughed out loud at her wild imagination then flipping her broom so that the tip was on the floor, she leaned on it and called up, "wonderful day for flying, isn't it?" She laughed again, still remembering her crazy mental pictures. Then she recognised that the person on the broom was Sophie. "Well, blow my socks off and call me Bare Bottomed Susan, Soph, you're the captain," she called up, "blimey! Well, I'm at your service, Captain."

Sophie immeditately recognised Jac's shock of hair, grinning she ran over flinging down her annoying broomstick laughing all the more at Jac's usual ridiculous sort of comment, she was always so funny. Giving her a quick hug she breathed deeply agreeing "yeah it's fab, takes your breath away though."
Laughing she added "Why so surprised that I'm the captain? I'll have to call you, what was it? Bare bottomed Susan, only you could come out with that!" Jac really did have a bizarre way with words even answering questions during lessons she came out with such witty comments.
"How are you then Jac? I hope you've finished that Defence essay, it'll take you all night honestly, I used three rolls of parchment, three! Such a rotter that Starsmore, and you know he won't even mark it anyway."

Jac giggled when Sophie really did call her Bare Bottomed Susan. Her hair turned a light shade of red, a sort of ginger, as she blushed. "Well, it was more of a 'oh wow! I'm so happy for you' rather then a 'o my! how could you be?'" Jac was always inarticulate when embarrassed.
Jac sighed inside when Sophie changed the topic. "Three?" she said in surprise with raised eye brows, "and all night, you say? Well," Jac kicked the bottom of her broom and it swung onto her shoulder, "it only took me about an hour. What really befuddled me was where I had left my spare parchment."

Elizabeth panted as she reached the Quidditch Pitch. There were two girls flying in the air. She recognized them as two 7th years in Gryffindor. Lizzie dragged her broom with her and squinted as the sun blinded her vision.
"Hey there! Are you holding the try-outs here?" she asked the girls while looking around to see if any more people had showed up. Only them two. Strange. I would've thought people would die to be on the team she thought and walked up to the one who looked like the captain.

Jac spun on her heal as a girl ran towards them, nearly knocking poor Sophie off her feet with the tail-end of her broom. She smiled at the girl and replied to her question, "hey there yourself. Yup! You've come to the right place for try outs. Sophie here was just about to give me directions, weren't ya, Soph?"
Jac turned around again nearly hitting Sophie with her broom and grinned at her. She was so excited to be able to play again, since her sister's wedding she hadn't had much chance to play. Sure, Jac would play with herself but it just wasn't the same as being on a team and actually having someone to aim the bludger at.

Lizzie smiled at the girl who had addressed her.
"I'm Elizabeth. You can call me Lizzie though. So are you the captain?" she asked the other girl.
Lizzie loved flying. Some days, in Beauxbatons, she would wake up really early in the morning and fly. Just fly. Overlook the lakes, and the snow...it was so pretty.

Laughing Sophie clapped Jac on the shoulder "trust you braniac, I'll never get my homework in before you will I? But was that your spare parchment? Oh no I'm so sorry, I thought it was mine, cause I'd left some the other day too." Sophie's brow furrowed as she apologised, she really felt quite bad about it.
Sophie smiled delightedly though as another Gryffindor joined them, filled with elation Sophie beamed and nodded enthusiastically as Jac pracitally offered her loyalty. It meant a lot that Jac was behind her all the way, strangely she'd half feared Jac would have wanted the position of Captain, but really she should have known Jac would aid her however she could. Beaming at Jac she waved in greeting to the newcomer.
"Yeah I'm captain I'm afraid Lizzie," she answered her cheeks developing a slight pink tinge in embarrassment, it felt strange ordering others about.
"Well shall we get into the air then?" She asked not feeling very secure about her leadership abilities, but seeing Jac nod encouragingly she added "get up there." Broom in one hand Sophie skipped lightly to the large chest which held the equipment, throwing a bat to Jac she took up the quaffle and released the fierce bludger into the air. It whizzed off at a shocking speed, thankfully not aiming straight for them; yet.
"Ok Jac you can be the beater, I'll guard the hoops for now, and Lizzie you can try out as chaser." After a moment of indecision she added worriedly, "is that alright?"

Jac took up her bat, tossed it in a wide ark above her head and caught it again. The weight was familiar and the bat was a pleasant extension of her own arm. She saluted Soph, ginned at her, then hopped onto her broom and positioned herself to receive the ball. "Fire away," Jac called.

Lisa walked onto the pitch, her broom trailing behind her. It was a nice day for a practice, and she beamed at the few girls already on the pitch.
"Sophie!" She said to the captain while waving a hand over her head. "Sorry I'm late! I was caught charming the Slytherins' ties to a more appropriate colour of red and gold... " she waved around her own with a smirk. "They didn't appreciate it, and I got into a bit of a rift, but I'm here now!"
Running over to them, she grinned at Jac and Lizzie, before carefully mounting her broom. She was nervous, and although it showed she plastered a good natured smile on her face. "Where do you want me?"

Ian shoved a piece of chocolate in his mouth as he walked over to the cluster of Gryffindors in the middle of the pitch. His own broom was held securely under his arm and he smiled as he approached the girls, standing near Lizzie.
He finished chewing his treat and leaned forward toward Jac, nodding to her bat. "Jac Biggerstall lugging this thing around?" Grinning, he looked at Sophie with an arched brow. "Are you sure that its safe?"
Before either of them could reply, both with jokingly witty responses he was sure, he held out the large slab of chocolate in front of him. "Being as kind as I am, I'm always willing to share," he said with a smirk, breaking off a piece and handing it to Lisa.

Drake had decided to stalk Ian all the way to the pitch for fun. He was a bit bored since his partner in crime wasn't there with him. Aiden was off somewhere and hopefully would return to the Quidditch pitch before try-outs ended.
When Drake had touched the field and heard Ian's comment, he laughed. "I don't think it is." he grinned. "Jac with a bat. Ian, we've got to be nice to her now, she could just let us be hit by the bludgers if we don't. I've got to tell Aiden that, I guess." he remained grinning.
Looking over to Sophie, his grin widened if possible. "Hey, you're the captain! It's going to be easy making the team this year! Soph, you know you're one of my favorite girls at Hogwarts, right?" he teased. "And you know that dungbomb under your bed was a joke, right?"

When Jac saw Lisa come onto the pitch, Jac rejoined the team on the ground. "Lisa," she said in obvious surprise, "good of you to join us!" She gave Lisa a light tap on the arm with her fist and laughed. Even though they had been in the same house and class since forever, Jac had seen Lisa in a long time so was overjoyed that she had come.
Then Ian joined them, closely followed by Drake, and they chirped about her holding the bat. Jac put on a very sarcastic laugh and hit Drake playfully, softly tapped him on the arm with the bat. "You better warn everyone," she giggled, "once I get swinging there's no stopping me!"
She smiled at the three girls for a moment and was about to make some comment about how the girls out numbered the boy and how they would have to be nice to them but all such thoughts escaped her head when she saw the chocolate in Ian's hand. He broke off a piece and gave it to Lisa and Jac smiled sweetly at him. "You always did know the way to get into my good books," Jac giggled, very obviously wanting some chocolate.

Drake smiled at Jac when she hit him. He went behind Ian and said, "Ian she's going to hurt me. Please save me!" he said in a high pitch girl tone, playing around like he normally did. He wickedly grinned at Jac and walked back over to her. Taking the bat out of her hand, he picked her up and placed her so her stomach was on his shoulder. "Sure, I'll warn everyone, Jac." he kept a good hold on her so she wouldn't fall on her head. That was the last thing he wanted. He liked playing jokes, but having someone hurt bad wasn't part of any plan. "Ian, I found some garbage on the field. Look at it!" he said, and spinned around in a half-circle so Ian could see Jac's face for a bit before turning back. "Where do I put it?" he grinned.

Poppy walked on to the pitch, slowly, but with an air of confidence. Her broom was just as tall as she was, but she prided herself on being able to handle it nicely. Her quidditch robes billowed behind her as she walked. They were just a bit to big, the smallest size they had.
The small girl reached the group of older students. She beemed with pride, clutching her broom stick! "Hi Everyone!!" She said happily. She couldn't beleive she would be flying was so many upper classmen. It was her dream.
"I'm ready to fly!!" She said, her smile plumpingher cheeks. She hoped she wouldn't embarass herself. She didn't like older sudent laughing at her. It wasn't very nice at all.
