Ashton shrugged. "Just in the mood to do some exploring. So, why does your sister think she owns the lake?"
((hey loser, where've you been all week?))

Rakki frowned darkly at the question. "I'd rather not talk about it, if you don't mind. My sister isn't on good terms with me."
((What do you mean where have I been? Haven't you notice a short person with an obnoxious blue and red jacket on?))

Ashton nodded. "Of course. I understand. I won't mention it anymore. I'm not on good terms with my father so... I can kind of relate...." he trailed off with a shrug and took a sip of butterbeer.((if i'd noticed do you honestly think i'd be asking, you loser? : )

Rakki took a deep breath and calmed herself. "I'm sorry for getting all uppity on you, I didn't mean to." She gave him a small smile and rubbed the back of her head.

Ashton blushed. "No, really it was entirely my fault. I shouldn't have pushed the subject. So what year are you? I'm guessing second? Maybe third?"

"Uh..." Rakki looked up thoughtfully for a second. "I'm in my second year. No! No!" She shook her head. "Third, sorry, third year." Rakki gave him a little cough. "As for you?"

Ashton laughed. "Fifth." he replied taking another sip of buterbeer. "So, I'm just curious, other than the fact that you're currently pissed at her, what's it like having a sister? See, I'm an only child so I tend to be a little curious about this sort of thing."

Rakki thought about it for a second. "It's hard to explain, actually, because for the most part we're polar opposites but there are times when we do get along. It's more or less like having a good friend who you fight with on a daily basis." She shrugged once again. "I dunno, lately I've been having better luck with my older brother Suoh." Rakki chuckled. "And having an older brother is, well, odd in itself if you're a younger sister."

Ashton nodded thoughtfully as he processed the information. "So is your sister younger or older than you? What's her name by the way?"

"Mm? Alyson's older than me." Rakki stretched and absentmindedly cracked her knuckles. "Being the youngest has its ups and downs."

Ashton gave a slight chuckle. "I imagine it does! Same with being an only child. On the one hand it's great, the other? Not so great... especially if you have my life." he finished darkly, his expression changing from friendly and open, to bitter and angry as he contemplated his less-than-perfect life...
