Why had she deluded herself into thinking that just because she was a sixth year things were going to get easier on her. Lately all she seemed to do was study she didn't even know half of what was going on in the school anymore. She hadn't even bothered to visit Hogsmeade all term. Tonight though she had had enough of that so she closed her transfiguration book and locked it away, she now opted for the warmness of the common room and her fellow class mates.
The quishy armchair was free and she made a beeline for it. As her butt hit the cushion though she noticed a first year by the look of her sitting near the window, so Ginny feeling a bit friendly smiled over at her, 'Hi there, anything interesting going on out there?' she asked making small talk.

"Not really, I'm just star gazing." She looked at the 6th year that was talking to her she was really pretty. Her dark red hair was perfect. "So how are you doing?" she asked in a small voice.

'Oh well I'm doing very well thank you for asking,' said Ginny remembering her manners. 'So I'm Ginny, Ginny Weasley, how about you?' she asked not sure of the name although she may have heard it in passing from one of the other students.

"Sarie Thimble nice to meet you." Sarie looked out the window. "Sorry Im not the kind of person that talks much unless i know really well." She bit her lip a habbit she needed to brake.

Ginny smiled at the unusual name, she rather liked it. It was surely a lot better than Ginerva. What her mother was thinking she had no idea. 'Well Sarie pretty name by the way, it's OK I understand I didn't used to be much of a talker when I was younger either. I was actually pretty shy funny since I was in a house full of the loudest most annoying lot in the world.' She giggled watching as the young girl commenced looking out of the window as if it held some great mystery to her.

"Yeah, my name is pretty but rather odd. I never met some one else with it before but my dad is a oddie himself. He came up with it."

'Oh well I don't find it odd I actually find it exotic like you said it's not a very common name you can be proud to say that. Your dad has a great imagination if he thought the name up. I much rather your name I mean my parents thought Ginerva was a good name I love them dearly but I'd love to know what they were thinking when they came up with it. I'm lucky that most people call me Ginny. At least then I don't have to cringe whenever I hear it.' Luckily the only time she ever really heard the name at home was when she was getting in trouble for something, that's when her mother would call out her whole name Ginerva Molly Weasley. 'So um do you have any brothers and sisters Sarie?'

Jac entered the Gryffindor common room at a stumbling run, dripping wet, her hair a deep midnight blue, and she was panting. She dropped her rucksack on the ground near the entrance and ran straight for the fire place. She sat down very hard on the worn carpet before the fire and pulled her knees to her chest, hugging them with dripping arms. She took a few deep breaths and suddenly realised she wasn't alone.
Slowly, Jac looked around and saw Ginny and Sarie. With an embarrassed grin, Jac turned her body slightly and said, "hiya. What you two doing?" She knew what was coming, she could almost taste it, but she wanted to prolong it as long as possible. She didn't want to relive the last half hour for a long time. Nevertheless, she grinned broadly at the two girls and sniffed.

Ginny heard someone come in and at first she didn't recognize Jac but when the girl walked over Ginny did a double take. She looked like she had just had a very hard day. Not able to resist as she watched her sit down, 'What happened to you? Are you alright?' She looked at her a worried expression growing on her face as she moved from the seat by the window and moved to one near Jac. She didn't want to push or anything but she just wasn't used to seeing her like this.

Jac grinned broadly at Ginny as she moved closer. She could see the worry on her fellow Gryffindor's face. She huddled closer to the fire for more warmth and nodded, her teeth chattering. She decided to answer Ginny's questions but be selective about how much she tells. She was too embarrassed to admit to what happened. She squeezed a hand to her wet chest and felt the water run through her fingers.
"I'm - I'm fine," she mumbled, adding a grin for Ginny's benefit, as she rummaged through her robes and pulled out her wand. Jac pointed the tip of her wand to her forehead, still hugging her knees with her other arm, and said, "Scourgify." All the water that had been on her and around her seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye. "That's better," she said as she stowed her wand away. Though the water was gone now, Jac was still shaking and shivering. She tried her best to carry on smiling at her fellow Gryffins.

"Hey, Jac. Rough day? No Ginny, only child. I got a bunch of cousins that could most like make your brothers look normal. Trust me on that one." She shook her head. Thinking about her family. She looked out at the night sky again. She loved to star gaze another thing that made her odd. She felt Ginny staring at her. "Sorry I the worst star gazer. Its hard to talk to me while the stars are out I lose were we are."

"Accio blanket," Jac said, pointing her wand to the stairs to the girls dorm. A large quilted blanket with the large emblem of her favourite Quidditch team came flying down the stairs to her and engulfed her. Laughing, Jac struggled to get the blanket wrapped around her. Under the covers, Jac put her wand away.
Jac turned a little again and grinned at Sarie. "Not so much day," Jac said, "as half hour." Jac grinned at the two of them. She was being cryptic and she was enjoying it. She let out a little giggled, her hair turning it's normal deep red. Wanting to change the topic from her she smiled at Sarie as she mentioned siblings. "And you Gin? You got any other's besides Ron?" she asked.

"Sorry about that Jac. At least it was only half an hour then the whole day." She glanced out of the windows. She sighed. The stars where really pretty.

Ginny sat back and seemed to loose her self in thoughts. Looking outside she saw the stars, each twinkling and one brighter than the next. It was a pretty sight one she would usually relish and be happy with but not tonight for some reason. Yes it was peaceful and she was enjoying watching it but something seemed amiss and she couldn't seem to put her finger on it. Ginny wasn't usually one to discuss her feelings with others so she chose not to make it look too obvious that something was bothering her. Trying to make her face look impassive, she closed then opened her eyes smiling at both girls. 'Beautiful out there, it always is here at Hogwarts. Ever notice that?'

Ginny was clearly distracted as she kept going on about something outside the window. Jac frowned at her for a moment, then craned her head so she too could see out it. Outside the sky was dark. Already? she thought and glanced quickly at Ginny, a dazed expression on her face. Ginny didn't seem to be bothered by it but Jac was. She looked down, at the worn carpet before the leg of the couch Sarie was sitting on and Jac thought.
Does Ginny get this distracted every time someone brings up her brothers? Jac thought to herself. She still didn't know what Ginny was talking about so she looked back out the window and saw the stars, twinkling in all their splendour. That must be it, Jac thought and clicked her fingers in triumph. Her features softened and she relaxed, hugging the blanket closer to her. She turned her attention back to the roaring fire before her. Just the thought of it warmed her. "It can be," Jac agreed, "but nothing beats home and home cooked meals, brownies on Sundays and baking cake with two sisters who can't bake to save their lives." Jac chuckled at the memory and stared, transfixed, into the dancing flames.
