Cass was sitting down beside the lake, her hand on the top of the water, her fingers making ripples in the deep lakes surface. Across the lake you could spot the giant squid waving its tenticles around in the evening sky. It was night time, 10pm to be exact, and instead of in bed asleep with the rest of Hogwarts Cassy was sitting outside observing the moon and stars, it was too nice of a night to be kept inside.
In a way it was kind of eerie sitting by yourself outdoors against a tree in the night where anyone could be around, but because of what Cassy was she had the ablilty to be able to tell if anyone was around for miles, not only could she sense them, she could smell them. But being half vampire was not something she was going to tell everyone just yet, seeing as she was new and all.

Feeling restless, Jerred left the confines of the Slytherin common room and made his way through the castle, not even caring if he was caught by the pretentious Ministry thugs. He had come across one yelling at the top of his voice at a Gryffindor 1st Year before Jerred threw a summoned chunk of rotten cheese at him. Jerred then turned, running down the corridor from which he came, hearing the berating voice of the fat, useless bald old man. Jerred turned sharply into a hidden passage, where he hid until the Ministry official went away, his laboured breathing causing him great delight.
He soon turned down the see where the passage went, and with a shrug he walked down it calmly, finding the way to an exit near the lake. He poked his head out of the ground from the hidden entrance and smiled, before pulling himself out and standing, look right at a Gryffindor girl. He raised his eyebrow inquisitively before looking over his shoulder, then the other.
'What? Can't a guy come out of the ground like that?'

"Do you use a pick up line like that often?"
Cassy raised her eyebrows giving him a strange look, her eyes seemed to glow a bright green in the dark. She was joking of course, her tone was semi obvious in that sense. Her attention was now on the slytherin boy standing in front of her blocking her view of the lake that she had been starting at before hand. Boys popping out of the ground was odd, heck, anyone popping out of the ground was odd, but here at this school odd and unusual things tended to happen, so nothing seemed to surprise Cassy anymore.
"Let me guess, you ran into someone whom you should have and used the hidden passage way near the kitchen?"
She may be newish but that didn't mean she hadn't had a good look around the school, Cassy had to find something to do to entertain herself in this place. What with going to classes and all... mind you she had found herself some good friends.. well more acquaintances at the moment.

'I was on the other side of the school when I did what I did!' He said, grinning widely as he remembered the look on the fat, bald mans face. Jerred looked at the lake and felt a stone underneath his foot, bending down and throwing it as far as he could, the stone landing with a loud plop, disturbing the shimmering peace of the lakes surface.
'And no, I don't use pickup lines at all.' Jerred said, not really caring if he recognised a half joke in her tone. 'I'm not really into the whole relationship with a girl thing, and I don't swing the other way before you ask!' He looked at her suddenly and raised his finger, shaking it side to side. 'I just don't see the point to endlessly searching for a person to be with so you can feel complete! I feel complete as it is, besides, when does a half-vampire chick like youself really care about pick up lines?'
'Yes, I can tell you're a half-vampire, all my cousins are half-vampires, all seventeen of them, my uncle and auntie really got it on a lot... Scary stuff when they go into detail!' Jerred said, sitting down and stretching out a little. 'You have most of the unnoticable traits, mind you, but I've grown up with them... Being bitten more than once, hurts a lot, but yeah, your eyes really give it away, they reflect the moons light, giving them a distinct glow.'

Cassy raised her eyebrow and gave a mocking laugh. Cassy interested in relationships? Well thats one she hadn't heared before, she hadn't found any boy worthy of her time and being involved with someone was not what she was looking for. Relationships grow to feelings and feelings grow to being let down and hurt.
"Don't you go thinking you know everything about me boy, you don't know who i am and despite you knowing what i am doesn't make a difference."
She hated how people just assumed they knew everything about her just by looking at her, it annoyed her enough when people told her what to do, but to assume they knew everything.. that just made her blood boil.
"And for the record, i never said i wanted a relationship so don't go implying i said otherwise."
Her tone was threatening, she was very judgemental, and to her this boy had just proved himself as an imuture self claimed know it all. Cassy would forgive him if she found it fit to and if his apoligy was worthy.

'Yes, I may know what you are, and may not know who you are entirely, but I can tell from what you haven't done is that you're a fairly good person, mainly due to not wanting to bite me.' Jerred said truthfully. 'And why would I assume I know everything about you? I don't know your name, I don't know what year your in, I don't know which parent of yours is the vampire, I don't know why you're so damn pretty, I don't know why you assume I everything about you... All I know about you is your a half-vamp, which is pretty damn cool mind you, you're a girl, and you're a Gryffindor.'
He was on the defensive now. 'Besides, I never implied in the first place you wanted a relationship.' Jerred said, shrugging. He lay back, putting his hands underneath his head looking at the stars. 'Despite the fact I know what you are, I don't really know you, I would like to get to know you before I judge what sort of person you are, but as I already said, I reckon you're a pretty good person, you haven't tried to attack me in any way... yet, unlike others who see me as a Slytherin and decide that I'm the usual arrogant, self absorbed know-it-all! I am a bit of a know it all actually...'

Cassy listened to him intently, her facial expression still a glare, a remarkably intimidating one indeed. Throught out his entire speech she didn't once shift her gaze from his face. Her hand instinctivly was resting on her hip, she did this alot when she was mad, it was a habbit she had never been able to get out of.
"Right"
She wasn't about to appoligise, to her she figured he was sucking up, he hadn't made a very good first impression at all.. But Cassy was willing to give a conversation a go once they got past the hostilies.
"Well i haven't attacked you because believe or not, i don't exactly like blood. Just because of what i am doesn't mean i have to nor want to, the only time i consume that is when i most definaltey need to and that isn't often".
"However i will forget your rudeness for now until i find something else to pick on"
She was joking of course, a smile was now replacing the frown that had been there before hand.

He laughed at her reply. 'Every time someone says something like that I end up proving them wrong!' He said, sitting up suddenly. 'Then again, I am a Slytherin and rudeness does come with the badge, arrogancy does come with with the green and my natural good looks and charming smile come with the blood purity.' He smiled jokingly.
'You don't like blood? Well, blimey mate! Only one out of my seventeen counsins said she didn't like blood either... She was soon beaten by my uncle... then he got hexed by my dad, then my father got bit... then my father went vampire and fled... Strange circle of events... It's my mother and auntie that are related of course, not my uncle and father.' He said, droning on for no apparent reason. He had being looking into the sky, staring at a single point, some would definitely say he was crazy now.

Cassy had been sitting there her eyebrow raised and an uninterested look upon her face listening to the boy rambol on and on about something she had no interest in.
"Have you ever thought about teaching history of magic?"
It was a joke but her facial expression and tone seemed serious. History of magic was taught by boring people about boring subjects.

'You think I'm boring, don't you?' He replied, looking at her out of the corner of his eye. 'Only someone would say that if they found a person boring, so, let's see if I can undo the boringness that I have so obviously created for you!'
'What do you like to talk about?' Jerred asked, getting straight to the point.

Cassy laughed and looked at the boy with a raised eyebrow.
"I don't think you're boring, i just think you talk alot about things that people really have no interest in, i mean sure if i had asked for your life history then maybe i would of listened."
She grinned.
"Hmm have you ever flown before?"

'Flown on a broom? Or are you telling me the stories about my cousins telling me they can fly without them and spells are actually true?' He said, guessing right away at what the girl meant. 'Never flown without a spell and a broom, can you do it?'

Cassy had to laugh. This boy believed to much of what his *cousins* had told him. Vampires may be able to shimmer in and out of places in ways that apperation couldn't do but no they could not fly.
"I think your cousins are living in a fairy tale, Vampires cannot fly, we do not turn in to bats and we can not only come out at night time. As you can already see concidering it is day."
She raised an eyebrow as if daring him to prove her wrong.

'Ah, but you're only half vampire, meaning it's your human side that allows you to bask in the sunlight.' Jerred said, smiling triumphantly. 'So, if you're truly a full vampire, you'd die, slowly of course.'
'Mind you, dying by exposure to the sunlight would be really, really bad, especially if you're sickly and pale...' Jerred said, his brow creasing as he frowned. 'I'm pale, but not sickly however.'

Cassy rolled her eyes, this boy was wrong yet he didn't want to back down. Cassy figured he breathed to much into minor details and made them something bigger then they really were.
"Whatever you want to believe boy"
With that she stood up ready to leave.
