Alana chewed on her lip, an expression of guilt on her face. "Will she be okay? I honestly didn't mean for this to happen, it's just that, I guessed that her father died and she... just fainted! Please tell me she's going to be okay!" she begged the professor.

Dan continued to study Grace’s face trying to look for any sign of her returning back into their world. He had very little knowledge about the magic that lay inside of a person and how they can reach it, but he knew it was very dangerous. He then heard the Ravenclaw mention something about guessing and her father dying. With a quizzical look he turned to face the other girl.

“You guessed her father had died…that is a very strange thing to bring into a conversation. I think by doing that, bringing back a memory you could have sent her into a sate of nothingness. She is stuck in a memory. This is old magic, I deal with cheap tricks.”

Dan’s voice turned into one of great concern, he looked away from the Ravenclaw and back to Grace. She was one of the best people in his house, his sisters best friend and here she was lying unconscious in his lap, he needed to do something and fast.

... A slap in the face ... her eye twitched, or was it cold water, in the state Grace was in she could not tell the difference. She looked around, the darkness was vast, but rays of white light shone onto a nonexistent floor, showing Grace at four, hiding in the cupboard, Grace at seven, running down the road in front of their house, Grace at eight by her mother's bedside.

A tear came to her eye and rolled down her cheek. She tried to look away but everywhere she looked her memories haunted her. Grace at eleven, hiding from her drunken father, Grace with Faye & Girty visiting that memory, Grace at twelve walking home from King Cross Station, Grace at six on the beach by herself because her mother had collapsed again. They rushed around her in a dizzying whirl, making her cry but not sob.

Alana sank down to her knees and buried her face in her hands. When she lifted her head, her face was streaked with tears. "How could I have been so stupid? If anything happens to Grace, I will never forgive myself." Alana sighed. "This is all my fault." she whispered, as she looked up at Professor Hubbles.

Dan could hear the sound of the girl weeping behind him. He wanted to turn around an comfort her but she was murmuring about something, that it was her fault. She had caused Grace to be like this, she had caused one of his Hufflepuff’s to be in danger. Dan tried to clam himself by looking at the face of Grace, then he noticed the glistening tears rolling down her cheeks. A tiny bit of hope filled Dan, she was not too deep into a transfix then he first thought. He knew what he had to do, but first of all he needed to get Grace somewhere better then this.

Reaching out Dan wrapped his arms around her picking her up. Slowly he stood up trying to make sure that her head was supported. However before he left he turned to face the Ravenclaw whose face was stained with tears.
“You are lucky, I think there is a chance of rescuing Grace, but I think you need to learn from this and never mention her father again. In fact keep your guessing to yourself.”

A frown had filled Dan’s face, whether it was because he was angry with the girl or that Grace was actually not as light as he first thought. With one final stare Dan turned his back on the Ravenclaw and started to head back up to the castle with thoughts rushing through his head.
‘Another Ravenclaw that is causing trouble, Headmaster Darrow will be informed.’

Alana hung her head in shame. She knew she deserved to be expelled. She stood as Professor Hubbles gathered Grace in his arms, and followed silently.
