Alana stood at the edge of the lake, her emerald green eyes gazing out over the water, her midnight black hiar being blow about by the wind. She was finally back at Hogwarts. She had missed the castle dearly but wasn't sure how to get back into the routine of things. She had changed so much. As she stood gazing out over the lake, a song came to mind. It was one that she had written over the summer. And it was one of the few that she was proud of.
"How can you see into my eyes Like open doors? Lading you down into my core, Where I've become so numb.
Without a soul, My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold, Until you find it there and lead it back Home.
(Wake me up) Wake me up inside. (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside. (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark. (Wake me up) Bid my blood to run. (I can't wake up) Before I come undone. (Save me) Save me from the nothing I've become.
Now that I know what I'm without, You can't just leave me. Breathe into me and make me real. Bring me to life.
(Wake me up) Wake me up inside. (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside. (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark. (Wake me up) Bid my blood to run. (I can't wake up) Before I come undone. (Save me) Save me from the nothing I've become.
Bring me to life. (I've been living a lie. There's nothing inside) Bring me to life.
Frozen inside without your touch, Without your love, darling. Only you are the life among the dead.
(All of this sight, I can't believe I couldn't see Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me) I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems. I've got to open my eyes to everything. (Without a thought Without a voice Without a soul Don't let me die here. There must be something more).
There's nothing inside) Bring me to life." Alana sang softly, her voice rising slightly with each note.
((I do not own Wake Me Up Inside. Evanescence does))

Grace had been leisurely walking around the lake, thinking about the previous nights' dream, when she heard a soft and powerful voice ringing over the water. She looked around, searching for the source. She finally spotted a Ravenclaw a little way off from where she was.
Grace now had purpose in her step, she walked towards the Ravenclaw. She had heard a similar tune in her head when she was by the piano a few weeks ago but never with such power and emotion, Grace had to speak to her.
When she reached the Ravenclaw, she had finished her song. Grace wanted to clap and cheer but thought it would be rude. In stead, she went to stand next to the girl and looked over the lake too. "It's a beautiful song," she said eventually, looking at the dark haired girl.

Alana jumped slightly at the voice. "Thank you. I wrote it over the summer. It's one of the few that I'm actually proud of." she answered softly. She turned to the girl. "What brings you out here?"
((oh and basically Alana sounds just like Amy Lee when she sings. I love Amy Lee. she has an amazing voice.))

Grace smiled at the Ravenclaw but then when she asked why Grace had come to the lake, she was at a loss for words. How could she say that her father had once again been in her dreams? It had been less then eight months since his death and she had thought that she had gotten over the worst of the dreams. "Apparently not," she thought aloud. Then she realised what she had done, "oh ... um ... I'm not sure. This is my thinking place, you see?" She offered a reassuring smile.

Alana looked deeply into the girl's eyes. Searching her mind for the answer. Finally she found it. "Your father died eight months ago. Didn't he?" she asked as she gazed into the other girl'e eyes. ((Alana can read minds so don't get freaked if she tends to finish your thoughts rather than your sentences! ))

Grace stared open mouthed at the girl. "What did you say?" she asked disbelieving she had heard what she had heard. Did she just ... I'm sure she did ... but how ... Grace had worked so hard to keep her father a secret and now this girl, who Grace had never met before is telling her ... there must be a logical explanation for this ... there has to be ...

Alana smiled slightly. "I can read minds. Supposedly it's a 'gift' but it's turning out to be more of a curse." she said bitterly looking across the deceptively smooth water of the lake. "I sometimes accidentally finish people's thoughts rather than their sentences and it freaks them out so much that they don't want anything to do with me. I hope I didn't upset you too much."

Grace was still staring at the Ravenclaw, mouth closed now. "But what did you say?" she asked again, "before?" Grace needed to make sure she wasn't loosing it, she had to hear it from her own lips that she had mentioned her father.

Alana looked at the girl, and spoke. "I said, 'your father died eight months ago. didn't he?' "

Grace became very light headed and swayed from side to side. She made a slight moan before a blinding darkness consumed her thoughts and swallowed her. Her eyes rolled back in her head and she fell backwards.
She seemed to be in the same place she had been with Prof Faye Vedette and Girty. Grace thought she was in The Void. It had the same vastness and emptiness as that first time she went to the Void. But now she was by herself, lost in her own darkness.

Alana gasped as the Hufflepuff girl seemed to faint. "Are you okay?" she asked as she knelt down, Oh that's a real smart question, Alana! The girl fainted! Of course she isn't okay! she berated herself. Alana looked around, for something to revive the girl with, Water! she cupped her hands and scooped a little water out of the lake. She splashed the girl's face and waited.

Grace drifted though the darkness, unaware that her face was actually dripping wet. She was cross legged and holding her knees. She looked around and could see nothing but the vast emptiness that she was drifting in. Suddenly a flash flashed next to her. She turned to see what it was.
It was a picture of her father, on a good day, and mother and herself. She was a mere six years old and at the zoo for the day. That had been a good day. They were standing by a small window looking at a rather interesting colourful snake. Grace looked upon herself and could think of nothing else but how innocent and care free she once was.

"Dammit!" Alana cursed in frustration. The girl obviously needed an adult, but Alana knew she wasn't strong enough to carry her by herself, so Alana did the only logicall thinng she could think of at the moment, She called for help. "Help!" she called as loud as she could and waited for an answer...

Post by Professor Daniel Hubbles on Apr 8, 2007 19:51:12 GMT
Dan was walking around the grounds of Hogwarts, he was enjoying the fresh air and the warm autumn sun. But he was awoken form his dream when he heard the sound of someone shouting for help. Switching into teacher mode Dan ran towards where to sound was heard. As he ran closer and closer to the lake he saw a single girl standing alone with a black shape on the floor. As he got closer he noticed it was another student. Running up to the student he tired to catch his breath while trying to collect all the information possible.
“What is happening…what is wrong….what….Grace.”
Dan dropt to his knees as he noticed who was lying on the floor, seemingly not conscious. With a quick glance up at the Ravenclaw Dan looked back down at Grace, his face full of concern. He needed to do something, but he needed to know what was wrong. Picking her up so her head rested on his lap Dan studied her face and noticed that her eyes were moving around under her eyelids. He breathed a sigh of relief. ‘At least she is not dead’ I thought to himself as he began to shake her shoulders and softly whispered into her ear.
“Miss Marks, it is Professor Hubbles. Come out of this state,. Come back to the real world.”
