Aiden stepped out of the castle and into the bright sunshine of the warm afternoon. He blinked once or twice, his brown colored eyes adjusting to the light. It was a nice day. No clouds. Just sky. The kind of day that was the perfect excuse to spend the afternoon outdoors. It seemed many other students had gotten the same idea. The grounds were filled with others, in small groups, pairs, or individuals. It was much too nice out to waste the day indoors.
Aiden descended the steps, jumping the last two. It was a habit he picked up during his First Year. He always jumped steps, though sometimes he just preferred to slide down the banister. A warm breeze whispered past, ruffling the leaves of the trees and blowing gently through Aiden's already tosseled hair. He tried to flatten down the lockes, but it didn't work. His hair was usual always untidy looking.
He began trailing down the path, heading towards the lake. The surface glittered in the afternoon sun and looked more inviting than ever. There were a few students scattered around the lake as well. Aiden waved at a few from his house before stepping closer to the edge. He picked up a stone from the ground and skipped it across the smooth surface. 7 skips. He smiled triumphantly. He picked up another handful of stones, testing his amazing rock skipping ability. Though he quickly grew bored of that. Now he was eyeing the lake, wondering how warm the water was. Swimming sounded good. As long as it didn't involve getting eaten by a giant squid.

Acelin, like many others, had taken advantage of the lovely day and had gone outside. She had decided that a good tan was the best way to spend the day. She had taken her towel to lie on, her shades and a book. She lay on her stomach, with her book in front of her, near to the lake but far enough away not to tempt the squid.
It was a peaceful day and the warm sunlight did wonders to lighten her mood. She put the book aside eventually and lay her head on her crossed arms. It was then that she saw a Gryffindor. She looked him up and down, trying to decide if he was worth the trouble but when he started throwing stones into the lake, Ace jumped to her feet and ran to him.
She grabbed an arm that was poised for the throw. "Are you loony?" she bark, "do you want the squid to ruin that pretty face?" Her accent was thick and her blue eyes keenly set on him. She didn't care that she was standing in front of a boy in her bikini, he was being so silly.

Aiden chewed his lower lip for a moment, still debating about the swim. The sun was warm and brighter than it had been all spring. A swim was too good to pass up. He began pulling his shirt over his head when he felt a girl tugging on his arm. Aiden lowered his arms back to his side, glancing over to see a Ravenclaw standing next to him. He raised his eyebrows slightly. " Pretty face?" He repeated, smirking slightly. " Well, when you put it that way..." He added, although the grin on his lips suggested he was joking. He sighed and cast one last look towards the lake. " But I guess I'll stop provoking that...thing." He smiled back at the girl next to him.
" Ravenclaw, right?" He questioned. He was positive she was. He had seen her sitting at the Ravenclaw table once before. It was a little harder to recognize her without her school uniform, considering she was now wearing a bathing suit. Not that Aiden really minded. She was a pretty girl. " I'm Aiden, by the way." He introduced himself.

Acelin breathed a heavy sigh when he didn't dive head long into the lake with his clothes on. She knew how unpredictable Gryffindors could be and she was certain this one would be no exception. She smiled at him when he smiled at her, remembering her good mood, and let go of his arm.
She flipped her hair over her shoulder and giggled, "is it that obvious?" she teased. She looked him up and down, having front row seats, and grinned. "Nice to meet you Aiden," she chuckled at the sound of his name through her heavy Irish accent, "I'm Ace." She stretched, yawned slightly, then added, "so why d'you wanting to go swimming in any case? A thrill seeker, are you?"

Aiden grinned back in response. " I've seen you around school before, though it was a little harder to recognize you without the uniform on." He explained, shrugging his shoulders slightly. A small smile played about his lips. " Ace." He repeated, nodding his head in approval. " Awesome name. Nice meeting you too, by the way." He went on. He watched as yet another one of the squid's tentacles disrupted the surface of the water before glancing back at Ace. He laughed. " I guess you could say that. But it just seems like the perfect time to swim...I don't know. I think I'm just bored."

Acelin giggled. No uniform would make it slightly harder to recognise me, she thought. "Bored?" she repeated, "what a pity! Boredom is so ... boring." She smiled a dazzling smile at the gryffindor then added, "but swimming with that thing," she nodded towards the lake implying the squid, "I don't think it's a very good idea."
She suddenly realised that if he did go swimming he would remove some of his clothing. A cheeky smile same to her face when she added, "but please don't let me stop you. If you want to go swimming, by all means, go ahead." She waved her hand towards the lake, still smiling cheekily.
