Andie sat and stared at the lake. A gentle breeze played with her hair, causing the fiery red curls to fly teasingly across her face, then tremble gently in the air. She drew her knees up to her chest, rested her chin on her knees and sighed. Why does love have to be so complicated? I mean, I was in love with a boy, he broke my heart, and now I'm in love with a professor? she thought to herself as she stared out at the sparkling waters of the lake.
Andie closed her eyes as a single tear made it's way down her cheek. She had been so in love with Russell, and she thought that he loved her too. That's what all the signs showed. Or so she thought. Of course she had just been a naive girl, blinded by love so who knew what the signs even really were? And now?
Now, she was falling in love with Daniel Hubbles the Charms professor. She knew it was wrong, after she was only seventeen, and he was what? Twenty-four? Twenty-five? It was oh so wrong, and yet it felt oh so good. Andie groaned, God girl, you have got to get your head screwed on right! she scolded herself.

Russell hesitantly approached Andie. She seemed sad. It was a change to the angry he had felt and he still had the scars to prove it. He gently tapped her on the shoulder. "Hi there," he said and sat down next to her.
He smiled out at the lake, feeling it's calming effect wash over him. He felt certain that this meeting would go a mild degree better then their last. He rubbed his cheek and rested his arms on his bent knees. "How are you feeling now?" he asked, smiling at her now, because he had asked that at their last meeting but he hadn't gotten and answer.

Andie jumped when a someone tapped her on her shoulder. Then she saw that it was Russell, and to her surprise felt a smile, rather than a glare spreading over her face. "Russell! Hi! Um... listen, I've been meaning to aplogize to you. I have been absolutely horrible to you ever since you came back, and it was completely uncalled for." She gave a hesitant smile, "Can you forgive me?" she whispered staring down at the ground.

Russell shook his head and held up his hand to silence her. "I hurt you and you were angry," he said simply, looking intensely at the ground, "that's all there is to it. There is no need for me to forgive you but for you to forgive me." He now, dropped his hand and looked at her, his head askance.
"I hurt you really badly and it was never my intention," he said, "and I know you haven't forgiven me." He rubbed his cheek and continued, "you need to forgive me if any forgiving needs to take place." He looked into her blue eyes and saw her pain and felt it himself. He had hurt her and he had not forgiven himself for it. As soon as she forgave him, he could forgive himself too.

Andie stared at the ground in confusion. "But... the way I've been treating you... what I did to you on the Quidditch pitch... how can you even stand to be near me anymore?" She whispered looking up. A single tear leaked out of the corner of her emerald green eye and ran slowly down her face. Andie bit her lip as she wound a curl around her finger. "Russell, what happened to us? We used to be such good friends. And now look at us, we can't even spend five minutes with eachother without me breaking down in tears, or screaming at you, or something. Russell, why did this have to happen to us?"

Russell put a hand on Andie's back in comfort. He tapped his fingers lightly and knew no other way of consoling her. He looked at her, his skew smile on his face, and he brushed her chin. "Hey," he said, "chin up. This was all my fault." He had lead her on so it had to be his fault.
He dropped his hand slowly and looked out over the lake. This is where they met and this was a good place to forgive past hurts and move on. "We were never meant to be more then friends," he said shortly, "and no matter how much we wanted it ..." He shrugged, "that's just what I think. We're good as friends." He smiled at Andie now, encouraging and friendly.

Andie nodded as she wiped away a tear. "You're right. It never would've worked out between us, we're better off as friends." Her hand dropped limply to her side. "If only my love troubles were over. But oh no! Now I had to go and fall in love with someone else! And an older man at that!" Andie groaned in disgust, "Ugh... what is wrong with me?"

Russell nudged Andie with his elbow. "Cheer up, Princess," he said, giving her a skew smile. "There isn't anything wrong with you." He had no idea people could fall in and out of love like they changed their underwear but it was an inappropriate observation to put upon Andie at that time. Instead he smiled at her. If she wanted to confide anything else in him, Rus wouldn't argue. He enjoyed helping people and listening was what he did best, when he wasn't flirting.
