Erika McCallister sighed as she knelt down, and sat with her legs tucked underneath her, looking out at the lake. A faint smile played across her face, the lake was so calm. So peaceful. So...perfect. Erika let out a small sigh as she leaned forward and placed her arm onto her knee, cupping her chin in her hand, she looked around, it sure was quiet around here. Tapping her fingers against her cheek, Erika heard the sound of someone walking towards her but payed no attention to it.

Girty wondered aimlessly out of the Hufflepuff common room. Although it was warm and the fat armchairs comfortable nothing in the world would tempt her to stay in there. People kept asking her if she was ok, how Dan was, was she worried about the tournament and even on tried to tell her about the time his pet hamster died and he knows how she feels. As Girty reached the entrance hall she looked over at the large hourglasses that continued the beads about the house cup, Gryffindor was getting ever closer but Girty no longer cared. Someone shouted her from the top of the stirs so trying to pretend like she had not heard Girty turned her back and walked out of the grand doors.
The sound of the gravel crunching under her feet gave her some relief from the silence that seemed to be surrounding her. Naturally there was some noise, students running around shouting, fighting and simply having a good time but non of that mattered to Girty. Every where she looked or every action someone did simply reminded her of Thom. His death had hit Girty hard, it was so unexpected and the thing that made the pain worse was that she had not seem him in such a long time, they had agreed to do so much when he had time away from the office. For him it would have been for the friendship but for Girty it was so much more. A childish crush she had once called it, but no matter what she thought she had lost one of her best friends.
While being lost in her thoughts Girty had found herself down by the lake, the water was calm and still and the sun played off the small waves. Thom always hated the lake, he always commented on it being too busy and how after the first few years at school the novelty had worn off. She could feel her eyes stinging in the want to cry, but she would not let them she had to much pride in herself, a bad habit that Dan had and it was slowly being transferred over to her.
Taking in a deep breath to try and clam herself down she continued to head to the water edge when she saw a Gryffindor sitting by herself. With a quick glance Girty noticed that she seemed happy enough and decided that after she had calmed down then she would at least greet the girl.

Girty almost jumped out of her skin when she heard the voice come from behind her. She turned around to face the girl and with her tear full eyes Girty looked at her for a brief moment trying to calculate what kind of person she was. She must have been kind enough to walk up to a complete stranger and ask if they were ok. Taking another deep breath to make sure that the tears did not spill Girty shook her head, knowing that as soon as she opened her mouth her voice would waver and crack. It took all of her energy to stop her lip from trembling.
Looking away from the girl Girty turned her attention back to the lake, hoping that the idea of nothing but water would help, but the many comments that Thom had made just made things worse. She could hear his voice echoing around in her head, and it caused more pain knowing that she would never hear it again. Her eyes began to sting once more, and Girty knew if she did not do something then the despair would win, and she could not let that happen.
Rubbing her eyes with the sleeve of her robe Girty turned around and looked at the girl, attempting to smile but it resulting in a mere grimace. With a loud sniff and a long breath Girty tried to move things along, away from her own problems, if she wanted to have a discussion then she would have stayed in the common room.
“I….I am fine. Just a bit stressed that is all, need to get away from this place. Be at home with my family.”
This time Girty managed to summon a genuine smile, the idea that she did not know this girl was some what comforting, she did not know everything about her life and why she was upset and attempt to make things better. She was just another person most likely with her own problems, why else did people come to the lake other then to find solitude no matter how difficult it was.
“Do I know you? Sorry I am no good with names or faces….hopeless in fact. We could have had a conversation in the corridor and I would not even remember it.”

Sarie wounded down to the lake to see a fellow Gryffindore and a Hufflepuff. "Mind if I join?" She asked. SHe didn't like being alone very much because she had been alone most of her life. "Im Sarie."

Erika glanced up and smiled at the young girl. "Nice to meet you Sarie, I'm Erika. Erika McCallister." Erika stretched her arms behind her back and yawned, her fangs glowing a faint pearly white, the tips as sharp and vicious as daggers. True, she could have retracted them if she wanted to, but she chose not to. After all, she was a vampire, why should she hide it? And people were going to have to accept it whether they liked it or not. She smiled as she looked out at the lake, then back to the two girls. "So, what brings you two out here?"

Erika focused on the girl closely, there was something strange about her. But what it was, Erika couldn't figure out. Then it clicked. "You can read people's minds, right?" she said, looking at the girl for clarification

Erika smiled. "Why would I care? You've just proven to me, that you don't care that I'm a vampire. Why should I care that you can read minds?" She chuckled lightly, "Besides, it's not like you could read mine anyway! Vampires have very strong mental shields."
