She heard the faint speech of her teacher, and looked up from her caterpillar too watch the woman turn and begin to walk away. As she saw her leading away towards the forest she ginned happily, she liked the forest, the last time she was there she had one of the best times ever! She clambered quickly and carefully up, careful not to squish or squeeze the death’s-head caterpillar.
She brushed a bit of pale brown hair behind her ear, and tumbled forwards quickly, walking quite close to the Professor. She wanted to be first to see something exciting, plus, she couldn’t help but watch the little Crup loyally trail behind the short haired woman. She grinned watching its forked tail sway with its walk, it reminded her of a muggle puppy she had seen. If it wasn’t for the fact it seemed to be focused on the professor she would try to pat it.

Alexis wondered what they were about to do when the teacher asked her to follow them. She had barely managed it though her thoughts also on the one who decided to ask if they were getting homework. Yes she was a Ravenclaw and yes she like to study and do work but who in the world went and asked for homework on purpose. Shaking her head in wonder she got up and started to gather her things...

After walking a few hundred yards, Rhiannon turned around to address the class. 'Right I need you all to keep your voices down. These guys are easily frightened.' She gave them all a excited grin, before pushing back a largely overgrown branch, allowing the class to finally see what was beyond the set of trees.
'Say hello to this years recruits.' Two unicorn foals looked up at their arrival, and Rhiannon felt a rush of pride. 'There is one male foal, Locks, hes the one furthest away from us, and the other is a female foal called Twig.' Rhian grinned, she was sure that the class would take to unicorns much more than the other creatures she had previously covered. 'And I assure you the names made perfect sense at the time.' She smirked, looking down at Skull, another unfortunately named by her.
'Right, you are all probably more use to the image of a pure white unicorn.' Rhian began, finally getting into a bit of teaching. 'These guys, as you can see, are golden.. as all foals are. Any ideas as to when they change to white?' It was always fun to work out who read the text book and who didn't.
[Yeah I know... Unicorns. But it had to done =P Also, when answering the question, don't expand to anything else.. haha.. I want to give out more house points and I won't have anything to ask then xD]

When Grace past the trees she gasped in awe. "Professor," she whispered, "they're beautiful." The two foals were the most beautiful thing Grace had ever seen. At the professor's question, Grace's hand shot into the air and she said, "Unicorns are born golden. They turn silver when they're about two years old and grow horns at around four. Then at about seven years old, they're generally fully grown and turn pure white." She retracted her arm from the air and continued to ogle the foals.

Sarie raised her hand. "Also arent Unicorns really sensivtie about who is near them. I think foals are as much. "

Grace looked at the small Gryffindor who had foiled her so many times during their Potions lesson. She smiled and nodded. "That's right," she said, and looked to the professor, "unicorns are very particular about who comes near them. They much prefer woman's touch and have been known to become dangerous around men."

She gave a loud gasp, but quickly slapped her hands over her mouth, not wanting to disturb the young foals in the least bit of way.
"They're so gorgeous!" she whispered excitedly. She hesitated and stepped forwards standing only as close as the proffesor did, but it was obvious the creature-lover wanted desperatly to coddle them. She blinked as she heard they were sensitive to the presence of certain people she turned to the short-haired proffesor, her eyes wide with curiosity. She raised her hand, but began speaking, seeing as she was quite close to the woman already "Why are they sensitive to girls? Does it mean us girls can get closer?" She looked at the softly glittering unicorns and she grinned wider. "Why are they born gold? Why are they all silver? Can there be rare cases like..an albino unicorn but all black or all gold instead? Why are they dangerous around men? Does that mean they don't like male unicorns also?" She stopped for a breath her eyes back on the professor focused very, very intently on her.

When she saw the unicorn foals she almost gasped out loud. They were the most beautiful things that she had ever seen. She knew that she said this class was a waste of her intelligence she had meant it then but now looking at these beautiful creatures she was mesmerized thinking that this was her new favorite class. She knew the feelings would pass once class was over but for now. She longed to go nearer them and pet them but she knew that she was going to have to wait for the professor to allow them. The professor asked them a question but Alexis didn't even hear it she was so busy looking at the foals. This was going to be a good class.

Akira joined the crowd of awestruck students, adding in an 'ooh' for good measure. "A kirin!" She exclaimed, softly clapping her hands together in delight. Feeling the confused glances, the oriental witch arched an eyebrow, remembering that she was the only one here who spoke frequent Japanese. "I mean.. Unicorn." That was what the English called this beautiful creature? It did not seem fitting, but if that was what she must regard it by to fit in.. Scrunching her face up, still stunning despite her confusion, Akira decided then and there that belonging would be harder than she expected.
Why, she must stick out like a sore thumb among the class, the only girl in a deep red kimono. All the teachers had been informed that this was the dress code at her old school, and it was allowed to make Hogwarts seem more like home. The Japanese garment, only two layers instead of the usually higher number, was worn loosely. "Eef thay did not like male unicorns, then there would be no foals." Akira explained to the excited child, barely able to contain her own personal glee at seeing such a familiar beast. Though the ones back home differed in appearance, it was similar all the same. The one horn, and all. "I am sorry about my late being, professor." She murmured, apologizing with that same lack of grammar that all foreign students tended to have. It would be a while before Akira could fully understand and speak English without difficulty.
"Is to touch it okai, professor?" She wondered curiously, frustrated again with her lack of proper pronunciation. To pet a kirin.. Akira had done so back in Japan, but it looked different from this one. Remembering that the teacher had asked a question, she looked up to her, not really knowing the answer but taking a stab at it anyway. "Is it because of the conditions inside the mothar unicorn? Thay would be used to living in a warm, moisturous enviroment. Afta being exposed to the air foa so long, their colar changes, hai?" ( Translation: Is it because of the conditions inside the mother unicorn? They would be used to living in a warm, moisturous enviroment. After being exposed to the air for so long, their color changes, yes? ) Well.. It was the best she could come up with. Afterall, human babies came out pale, pink, and veiny, most losing that quality when they aged. If that wasn't the answer, Akira shrugged it off, continuing to watch the baby with warmth in her eyes.
