Sarie was sitting by the lake. Enjoying the sunshine. She had a book open. She had really gotten used to the castle. She wounded how Ian was. He was the frist person she had meet.

"Swish left twice before ending with a jab - " Ian muttered quietly to himself, his nose in a Charms book while his wand waved enthusiastically between his fingers. "Properly enunciate all syllables..." He trailed off, realising he had walked right up to a tree. It was actually quite appropriate and he sat down against it, stretching out his legs languidly.
N.E.W.Ts were a daunting process, and he sighed loudly, squinting in the sun. A rustle sounded suddenly behind him, and he peered around the trunk of the tree with a raised brow.
Recognising Sarie right away, he grinned and shuffled over, leaving his book on the grass - always thankful for a distraction.
"You look like you're enjoying yourself," he said a bit wistfully, though gave her a playful wink. "Lucky first years. You guys have it good."

"Us have it easy yeah right. We have to deal with older students picking on us. Then we have to find the classes and then we have to deal with the classes themselves. Yeah our lives our so easy." she said then she laughed.

Ian laughed, jabbing her lightly with his wand. "You know, you're right about that. I remember my first year at Hogwarts, the Bloody Baron chased me out of the dungeons and I missed my first week of potions." He thought for a minute, then pulled out his arm
A small scar sliced across his inner elbow and he showed it to her proudly. "Got it the first time I fell off my broom."
Rolling his sleeve back down, he regarded Sarie with an amused expression. She looked pretty relaxed, and he decided to join her, laying out his form completely.
Guarding his eyes from the sun, he placed a hand behind his head. "And what stories do you have of your first year, Thimble?" He said, half yawning.

"Well, I keep showing up the headgirl in our potions class. I made a few friends but most of them are older than i am. I have a hufflepuff than doesnt like me." She said as she laid down in the grass. "How have you been?"

Ian let out a rough laugh, wielding an arm over his eyes. "Is that so? Well, fair enough - the head girl keeps showing me up when it comes to our duties." Smiling briefly, he added teasingly, "It's hard not to make friends older than you are when you're an ickle firstie."

"You enjoy picking on me dont you. So what classes you taking?" She asked looking at her first friend at school. She noticed she had always be able to talk around Ian and had never read his mind. Could it be that she trusted him before really taking to him.

Ian grinned. "You said it yourself - it comes along with being a first year." When she mentioned classes, he made a face and waved a limp hand over to the neglected Charms text.
"Too many."
Never wanting to linger on the topic of classes and work for too long, Ian brought up his favourite subject instead. "You know, Sarie, since I'll be leaving this year, I fully expect you to take my place on the Quidditch team." After a moment of thought, he added, "You can even have my Silver Arrow, if you promise to take better care than I ever did of the poor thing." He smirked a bit.

"Are you sure?" She asked her eyes going wide. "I'm an okay flyer but i've never really played before." She blushed. "Ian what do you think of me?"

"Oh yeah, definitely. I'm sure O'Donnell has nothing but compliments about you," Ian said with a nod, his arm falling over his eyes again, and a lazy smile stretching over his face.
At her next question, he raised his eyebrows and tilted his head toward her. Giving her a bemused smile, he let out a noise of thought. "Well, you are by far one of the most mischievous first years I've ever met -" Cutting himself off, he looked briefly around for Grace, before deciding he was clear. He grinned. "Keep it up."

"Yeah I will. I bet you don't have any books on broom care do you. My dad with kill me if don't take care of a sliver arrow his dream broom." She laid back. "I'm going to miss you next year you know that right." Sarie didn't know she was going to tell Ian that she liked. She knew he didn't share her feelings she was just a good friend. Why not tell him. "Ian... I.. I..." she stopped why was this so hard.
