Bellatrix Black sat alone on the beach of the Black Lake. She had taken her shoes off and the tide was tickling her toes. She had been looking for a olace to be alone and cry her eyes out over the recent events in her life, but once she got there, she found that she couldnt cry anymore. so she sat there in quiet desperation, watching as the tide came in, and out, and in, and out.
She felt bad about her and diana's blow up. she was heartbroken with fear over losing scott's affection. she was so angry that she had kissed drake. she was pissed at herself for saying those aweful things about diana to tim. she was jealous that narcissa had found her one guy. and she was SO DONE WITH THAT HORRIBLE IRKSOME WHISTLEDOWN WOMAN!
she laid back on the sand, and tried to find a tear to cry. no such luck.

Dark, heavy bags had formed under Elijah's eyes in the last couple of days, the stress of approaching exams and the Red Rose League's currently dismal situation having taken it's tole on him in the form of countless nights' missed sleep. He was exhausted, worried and angry, and the only thing that seemed to be cheering him up lately was spending time in the Three Broomsticks with Aurelié, talking about their problems and drinking weak wine. What else could he do?
Flattening his hair down out of habit, Elijah walked on the very edge of the shore, the lake's weak tidal movements lapping up the side of his shoe every now and then. He had come here to try his hand at a bit of self-soothing in the form of meditation, but before he had even walked out the castle he had decided he wasn't going to embarrass himself with such a namby-pamby concept - it was better to walk and think than fall asleep sitting up in his opinion.
As he passed a large, mossy rock, he set eyes upon a Slytherin girl lying by the water - and instantly recognised her to be the one who had cast that ridiculous spell on Jac. Bellatrix.
Her face was a storm of contained emotions, her brow knotted so tensely that he was surprised she wasn't crying. She was biting her bottom lip as if to stop it from trembling, and with an aggitated sigh, annoyed that he was even bothering to acknowledge her presence, he stopped a couple of feet away from her. 'Finally realised the error of your ways?' He said in subtle mockery, his eyebrows raised expectantly. He knew full well she wasn't thinking of what she had done to Jac, but he didn't care. 'Although, I'm finding it hard to believe those are real tears your trying to shed.' He snapped politely.

Bella's eyes snapped open. Without sitting up, she took notice of a seventh year Gryffindor, making an irritating comment that was definitly unnecessary. God, Gryffindors. Why can't they all be like Scott? she thought. She paused, hoping the thought of her beloved would bring tears to her eyes, but no. Nothing.
"I'm not in the mood to retaliate, Gryffindor. If you're looking to pick a fight, find my sister. She'd be happy to let you have it." Bellatrix answered, sounding exhausted. She rolled over, turning her back to the boy.

Nathan walked through the doors that lead to the castle grounds and he took a long, deep breath. The fresh air filled his lungs, it awoke his senses and with a small laugh he walked down towards the lake. He had a feeling this was going to be a good day, the sun was low in the sky and in the distance he could already here the sound of a Gryffindor and a Slytherin arguing His favourite type of argument. Quickening his pace Nathan walked down the bank to she who it was, but was disappointed to find it to be Bellatrix Black. Rumour had been passed around the room that this was yet another Slytherin wanna be.
Knowing that he needed to take a firm footing into the argument Nathan searched for a possible attack pattern and who would be the best to target first. The Slytherin would be too easy, the Gryffindor seemed strong
“I hope you are not applying that Slytherin’s feel guilt Ellerby. Every action we take has a purpose and a dam good reason. Not that a Gryffindor would understand, they are the biggest group of show-offs I have ever seen.”
With a cruel smile Nathan lowed his gaze to the Slytherin that was lying on the floor, she seemed to have an attitude problem, she did not want to fight. This idea made bile rise in Nathan’s throat. Where was her fighting spirit the want to be greater then everyone. No she was more concerned about herself and her own emotions then keeping the reputation of Slytherin house. Wrinkling his nose Nathan looked up from the pathetic excuse for a Slytherin and turned back to the Gryffindor.

Nathan’s mouth hung open as he heard Bella’s voice ring out. He was not too surprised about what she had said, he would never admit it out loud but she was true Gryffindor’s and Slytherin’s were a lot alike just Gryffindor’s had more back bone in the situation of danger. But there was one part of what she said that made his blood boil. She had called the Gryffies, a Slytherin calling the Gryffindor scum a pet name. He could not believe it, he would not believe it.
“Did I just hear you correctly?” He spat, looking down upon Bella, his rage was showing in his eyes, they bulged with anger and his eyebrows where knitted tighter in a frown. “Did you just call them Gryffies? Because if you did then I will get professor Fagin to lock you out of the common room. That is not a term pure blood Slytherin’s use. But I would not expect anything else from you Black. Where you sitting here crying over a lost love like some kind of Hufflepuff.”
Nathan had forgotten the Gryffindor was standing by him, his attention had changed to this supposed Slytherin, her sickening attitude and love of everything Gryffindor. This was no Slytherin he was looking at, but a traitor. A traitor to their house and founding farther, and Nathan could not let that happen, she was not fit to wear the serpent on her robes. In a fluid motion, Nathan reached into his robe and pulled out his wand and pointed it straight at Bella. With a small flash from his wand, Nathan smirked as the Slytherin badge vanished off her robes.

Elijah rolled his eyes tiredly. 'I'm not looking for a fight, Bellatrix, I'm - ' He was abruptly cut off as another Slytherin arrived on scene to make the situation even more awkward and difficult. Nathan Holloway, his face greased with his usual conceited smirk, waltzed up to them with the air of someone intending to make trouble.
'As much as I value your half-baked opinion, Holloway,' Elijah narrowed his eyes lightly. 'I hardly think you can talk about showing off.' He glanced from Nathan to Bellatrix accusingly. 'Self-confidence is one thing but constant and unrelenting arrogance gets pretty old after after four seconds. Where's your sidekick, anyway?' He remarked sardonically, half-expecting Angrod to slither out from under a rock at any moment, his large, owl-like eyes unblinking.
'Frankly, I can't understand why you two are fighting. You're made for each other. Although... it seems several other people are also made for you, aren't they, Bellatrix? A disturbing number of Gryffindors it would seem.' Elijah stated coldly.
Nathan, of course, wasn't the only one infuriated by the amount of Gryffindors and Slytherins getting friendly as of late. It was nothing but traitorous.

"you have confirmed my belief. all boys are absolute idiots." bella delcared while getting up to walk away.
this had less to do with slytherinism, and more to do with idiocy and pig-headedness.

Nathan could not help but smirk as Bella stood up and started to walk away, from what he had heard from Marishka and other sources she seemed to do this quite a lot. Nathan had come to the conclusion that she was scared of what people would say to her and that her emotional instability just added to the mood swings and her obsession with Gryffindor’s.
“Those are harsh words Black. To condemn the whole male species is not a wise move, what would your Roderick say….or is it Scott…or Derek??? I have forgot I can only get my news at certain times you see and you go through so many. I half expected you to hit on Ellerby.”
Nathan continue to stare at the back of the fake Slytherin and waited for a response. Nathan was purposely trying to provoke her, and no Slytherin could shy away from that, well no true Slytherin.

bellatrix stood frozen on the spot. she slowly turned to face him. "dont you dare talk about scott." she said in a low deadly voice. "just shut your fat mouth!" she shrieked, directing her wand at him, daring him to say more.
then she recognized him. "oh, youre angrod's friend, arent you?" bella asked him, superiorly. "i should have known. youre both out-casts." bella said, folding her arms.

Nathan could not help but laugh to himself as she pulled her wand out on him. He seemed to have found her soft point, her fetish for a Gryffindor. And it seemed to have effected her ability to think of come backs. ‘Shut your fat mouth’ and ‘out-cast’ were not very harsh, even Hufflepuff’s came back with worse things then that. Taking a step forward with his spread out in front of him Nathan began to talk to Bella like he would with a small child.
“There are a few rules when it comes to teasing people Black, and by the sounds of it you do not know the most important one. Know your enemy. You see straight away I hit your weakness, you however know nothing about me and so were forced to make assumptions.”
Nathan lowered his arms and folded his arms in imitation of Bella. He raised his left eyes brow and waited for the information to sink in. Then in his same calm and collected voice Nathan laid down his proposition.
“I will give you three days Black. Met me here then and lets see if you have learnt anything. I will expect better insults from you and for you to have actually dug up some dirt. But if you continue morning over you Brooks then you will fail once again.”

"i dont think you have grasped the concept that i dont care what you think, and would rather not waste my time talking to someone lower than me. please find someone else who is cooler than you to attempt to engage in conversation." bella turned around again and continued walking away. "good day, holloway."

Post by Sophie Hargreaves on Jun 20, 2007 15:47:29 GMT
The early morning rays dazzled Sophie's eyes, unfortunately she'd missed the sunrise as Elijah hadn't made enough noise down in the common room to waken her. But she knew he'd been around the lake somewhere, he'd often taken to going on long walks, in fact she never even saw him around the common room, he slept little and arose so early few people ever saw him about these days. Even though the exams were tough and he especially demanded the best from hismelf, she didn't believe he needed to revise quite that hard and long. What was he up to? He usually told her just about everything, but these disappearances were growing longer and she was beginning to worry; true he could look after hismelf adequately, he most assuredly wasn't seeing a girl as it just wasn't his cup of tea; so what was he up to?
She was quite determined to find out, her long dress swishing in the gentle wind, Sophie made her way purposefully towards the lake, she smiled happily even though exams were upon them nothing much could really dampen her high spirits. Not even two Slytherins bickering by the lakeside, and there was Elijah too, in the thick of it, probably about to throw them both bodily into the lake. Waving cheerfully, she approached just as the girl coldly ceased the conversation and began to move away, the light played across her features and Sophie recognised her vaguely as one of the infamous Black sisters, which one she didn't know, but both were supposedly bad news, Gryffindor girls and boys alike had been gossiping as to how evil they were; but Sophie dismissed prejudices and uttered a far more cheerful greeting; "Hiya Miss Black, sorry I don't know your first name," She apoligised immediately knowing it would be best to get that fact out into the open.
"Holloway how's your revision going?" She asked determined to disappitate the tension which had been clear between the three of them. "And last but by no means least Mr Ellerby you are an early riser, I thought we'd be meeting to study for that upcoming Divination paper? Or was that after breakfast?" Sophie smiled warmly at all three with equal warmth and was determined to receive and equally warm greeting back, or else the slight glimmer of mischief in her eye would only manifest and her sharp tongue would become instantly evident. She dearly hoped it wouoldn't come to that though, as she was determined to treat Slytherins as equals to everyone else, as they were; equals not betters.

Nathan shook his head as he watched the girl walk away. She was taking the easy way out. She was being a coward and walking away with out even a proper fight, or agreeing to Nathan’s terms. He could not believe that he had heard she was boasting about being true a Slytherin. If that was the case then some Hufflepuff’s were miniature Lord Voldermort’s.
“Fine then Black, walk away. Just remember you can not escape me for long. I will always be around to bug you and make remarks about your precious Scott….or what ever poor soul you have fallen for next time!”
Knowing there was not much more point shouting at her from a distance he spun around still surprised to see two Gryffindor’s here this time. He had been so focused on breaking down Bella that he did not notice the new arrival. With a groan Nathan walked away close to the lake and started to throw stones into its depths.
“Please, I do not need a Gryffindor to tell me when to study. I could take the exam now and still come out with better grades then you Hardgreaves. And don’t you smirk Ellerby you look like you were in a fight with a flobberworm and lost.”
