(Lake) Never Again

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell watched Diana as she spoke. The way her mouth played with the words as they came out and the twinkle in her eyes were so beautiful. Russell said nothing, which for the talkative Claw was quite something, but he just watched her. "Requirements Room," he said, "right, I'll have to remember that one. Thanks."

His father had approached him a few days ago while he was on the beach with three girls and he was still mortified at the way his father had flirted with the girls. Who does he think he is? Rus remembered thinking, but never again would he let his guard down while he was in such an open place. "Do you go there often?" Rus asked, turning back to Diana, "the requirements room, I mean."

[Aidan and Derryl Parkhurst]

While taking a leisurely stroll around the lake, Aidan spotted Russell sitting next to a Slytherin girl. He nudged Derryl with his elbow and nodded his head in their direction. Derryl looked up from his crouched position where he was admiring a very smooth rock. He stood up and threw it into the lake so it skipped once - twice- three times - four - it skipped a few smaller hops too but neither saw it because they were striding towards their brother.

'Rus,' Aidan said, patting his older brother gruffly on the back.

'Lady,' Derryl said, bending to one knee and kissing the girl on the hand, 'good day to you'

Aidan quickly jumped over Russell's legs and pushed his brother out of the way. He now picked up the girl’s other hand and planted a kiss on it too. 'A very good day now that you are in it,' Aidan said, looking up at the beautiful girl.

Derryl jumped to his feet and glared at Russell for him to do something. He had seen her first. Derryl, not Aidan.

Russell had been smiling at Diana. She was so beautiful that he couldn't help himself. But when he felt the all too familiar pat on the back, he grimaced in irritation. He turned and was staring at Aidan. "what are you two doing here?" he said venomously.

Derryl was flirting with Diana and Aidan too and Derryl clearly didn't like that. He glared at Russell so he shrugged at him and pulled Aidan over but the scruff of his neck. "I'll say it again," he said looking down at Aidan who was now lying across his legs, "what are you two doing here?"

Derryl sneered at Aidan, happy that Russell had done something. And Aidan blinked up at Rus, grinning like and angel. 'What are you talking about?' Aidan said, shruggin his shoulders. 'Tell his, Ry, we weren't doing anything.'

Derryl frowned at Aidan but nodded, 'we were just walking around the lake. No crime in that, is there?' Derryl folded his arms and glared at Aidan again but then gave him a hand to help him up.

Aidan grinned happily at his twin, 'thanks,' he said. He hadn't noticed the glares and wouldn’t have done anything even if he had. 'And what are you two love birds doing?' Aidan asked, in his normal sporting mood.

'Snogging, were you?' Derryl smiled and nudged his brother. Though a minute ago, Derryl had been angry at his brother, he was quick to get over such petty things, especially since Aidan rarely noticed.

Diana smiled at Russel, "I go there to get away from my dramatic world, but sometimes scenic views are more relaxing," she spoke of the lake. However, before she could do more, two younger boys came up to her and began flirting with her. Diana let out giggles and noticed the irritated look on Russel's face.

When they asked if they were to be snogging, she giggled. "Are you boys even old enough to like girls yet," she spoke playfully. She watched as they did things and couldn't help but giggle. "I assume these are your brothers?" she smiled at the similarities.

If he wasn't in the presence of a lady, Russell would have punched each of his brothers for that last comment, even though Aidan didn't make it. Diana seemed to find them amusing but Russell merely grunted, "ya!" He glared at each and said, "that's Derryl and the monkey who was falling around Aidan. Monkeys," he said to his brothers, "this is Diana. No more drooling, please."

Russell could see that nasty glint in their eyes and could tell they were going to mess this up too. She kept smiling and Rus knew that that would just encourage them. They looked cute but when they bared their true colours they were ugly and it would be too late. Rus had to keep those two monsters away from Diana. “Don’t you two have a first year to terrorise?” he asked mockingly.

Diana giggled and smiled at Rus. She moved closer to him and whispered in his ear, "Don't be bothered, I have cousins that pull the same stunts." She looked him in the eyes and gave him a sweet smile. Diana's siblings were pretty calm but her cousins were off the wall. She was used to it and had learned to not let it bother her. It was [fun]ny to her though, that all of this was happening.

Both twins crossed their arms and leaned towards each other. 'Snogging!' they said confidently. Russell had ignored the question and so had Diana so they must have been snogging. They rolled their eyes and began laughing so loudly they might have been heard from the other side of the lake.

'True Parkhurst style,' Aidan said, looking knowingly at Derryl.

'Was it good, Diana?' Derryl asked, nudging Aidan, 'or should one of us show you how it's really done?' He raised his eye brows hopefully.

Aidan laughed at Derryl and smirked, 'and you know that one's going to be me.'

Derryl frowned and crossed his arms grumpily. Aidan always stole the lime light and Derryl was resentful about it sometimes. 'No, it'll be me, Aid!' he said angrily. The two brothers glared at each other, each stubborn enough to fight over something as silly as a girl that was way too old for them.

Diana looked at them both and got the drift of what they were talking about. She looked at Rus and giggled. "Yeah it was good, the best, and if you don't mind I think we can get back to it," she giggled and winked at Rus playfully.

Yeah they obviously didn't kiss. However, if the twins thought that maybe they would decide Diana was a lost case, or something. As she watched them fight, she giggled. They were cute kids and she was sure that they would have their chances at snogging with someone much prettier than herself one day.

Russell smiled at Diana as she said to relax. But he couldn't. His nonsense brothers always got in the way and Rus never liked it much. Still he stayed seated and bit his lip. He didn't want to be the bully in front of a beautiful girl.

Naturally the twins would pick snogging as the secret activity Rus practised behind their backs. Russell rolled his eyes at their extravagant display. Diana, was a gem, played along. Rus smiled crookedly at her and winked back. "We could always show you how it's done, squirts?" Russell offered, jumping to his feet. He held a hand out to Diana to see if the twins would run away before or after she stood up.

Diana giggled and watched him as he played along. She loved doing this because most little kids really didn't like seeing people snog. Diana grabbed his hand and stood up. Her arms were now around his neck playfully, and she was holding in a giggle.

She wouldn't mind kissing Rus, he was a sweet guy. However, it was still somewhat funny how they were fooling around. She liked that about him, even if she just met him, she felt really comfortable with him.

[Aidan and Derryl Parkhurst]

Aidan and Derryl looked at each other, tongues out of their mouths, brows furrowed and a long and painful sounding grown escaped their gapping mouths. 'Ewww!' they groaned in unison as the two were about to kiss.

'No thank you,' Aidan said, turning with his brother to face the two love birds.

'You can keep your kissing to yourselves,' Derryl said and grabbed Aidan's arm. 'Come on,' he said, 'let's get out of here.'

Aidan nodded and the two began to run towards the castle. They were still grossed out by the prospect of seeing their brother kissing. 'How gross!' they said together, pulling the same faces as they ran into the castle.

Diana played along beautifully, naturally, Rus had never doubted she wouldn't. She took his hand and he pulled her up. He smiled is crooked smile and looked into her beautiful eyes. The twins fell for it and went running but now that the Ravenclaw and the Slytherin were poised for the kiss would they actually do it.

Rus continued to look at Diana waiting for her to give some indication that she wanted it. If she didn’t, Rus knew he would let her go. He wasn’t the type to take advantage of a girl because he was bigger and stronger then her. But he hoped that she did because he was so ready.

Diana giggled at the boys and looked into Rus's eyes. He was cute and they were so close. She bit her lip lightly as she felt the presence of the boys depart. Ignoring it she moved in slowly and her lips met his. Her arms wrapped a bit more aggressively around his neck as she kissed him. His lips were soft and inviting, she couldn't help it. However, she was nervous. What if he had not planned for a kiss, she thought to herself.

Pulling away, she held her breath lightly. "I'm so sorry..." she stuttered as she looked away and felt herself blushing. It was just like her to kiss a guy she had no idea if he had a girlfriend.

Rus could have jumped for joy when Diana moved close to him. He knew this was what he wanted, at this moment in time nothing else mattered. He kissed her, running a hand along the arch of her back and the other higher up. She was curvy like a goddess could only hope to be and her kiss was playful and tempting as she was. But she pulled away. And Russell let her go.

He looked down at the beauty, an amused look on his face. "Don't be," he said, and lifted on of her hands to his now warm lips. "You gave me exactly what I wanted and it was perfect," he put a hand to her cheek, "just like you are." He smiled charmingly at Diana and kissed her lightly on the forehead. She kissed me against her better judgment, Rus thought, she must have a boyfriend or something. He pull away from the kiss to her head and smiled.
