It felt as though Mike hadnt been away from the common room in ages. You'd have thought with him now being a seventh year, you'd find him more often than not within the library studying for his end of term exams, but no. Mike had preferred to laze about within the confinements of the Gryffindor common with nothing but the crackling fireplace for company. The library was once an old friend of his, he was sure he remembered. Though why he waited so long to come back here he couldnt fathom it out within his own mind. Weaving in and out of the shelves like something, well he was sure quite like what, but he was weaving none the less.
Eventually. after much searching, he found what he was looking for. Enchantments and their properties his father had told him to look it up, said it was an interesting read and would serve him as useful. Though Mike, sceptical of his father most times, disregarded his feeling that now lay in the pit of his stomache, an ache, and went in search for the book. He held it between his hands, a tightly bound leather book with more pages in it than the ministrys rule book. It would take him months, if not years to read this and Mike did not have the time now. He should be studying, like a lot of other people. Being lost in thought always served Mike as one of his more dangerous feats. He heard a slight creak in the topmost shelf and looked up. "Oh no..." He mumbled as a shower of books fell off, smacking Mike over the head and landing with a great thumping sound on the floor. "Great... just great" He said to himself with a roll of his eyes, rubbing his head where the heavy ones had hit him.

Maria had just been searching for a book when she heard a loud commotion coming from somewhere nearby. She walked around and looked trying to find the source of the commotion. Finally, she saw a guy a mess of books scattered around him. He was rubbing his head.
Maria looked up and noticed that the top shelf was almost completely empty of books. "Are you alright?" she asked stepping over books to get closer.

Mike looked up at the shelf. It was empty but he still couldnt figure out why, or how, he had managed to make all them books fall. It was just his luck. Something always happened, if it was not one thing, it was most definatly another.
Hearing the sound of a girls voice he looked up, seeing her stepping over the mess of books. "Oh, uhm.. Yes.. Yes im fine" he said, "No concussion or anything" he smiled, picking up some books and putting them back on the shelf. "Just me being a clutz as usual I guess"

Maria smiled at the boy as he started to pick up books and put them back. She wanted to help, but knew she couldn't reach up that high. She was curious as to how he had made all these books fall, but he had said no discussion so she didn't ask. "Alright," she said, "Do you want some help?" She pulled her wand out, pointed it at one of the books, and said, "Wingardium Leviosa." The book leviated up to the shelf and went gently back into place. She did this with two other books, then turned to the boy. "I'm Maria by the way." Immediately after saying this she continued putting the books back up.

Mike felt like a total moron. The shower of books wasnt exactly what he had planned on getting when he came in here today. Neither was the excruciating headache, that was sure to come along at any given moment. Mike really was a clutz, and there was no hiding that.
"Help would be greatly appreciated" he said, putting the books up without use of his wand. Which now he thought about, would make things a whole lot easier for him. "Im Mike" he said, holding out his hand for her at the same time, dropping a book which landed on his toe, "Yeowch!" he half screamed, "That was a heavy one too"

[oops...oh well]
Maria burst into a fit of giggles. After a few moments she finally calmed down enough to speak. "Umm....are you sure you're going to be okay? You don't seem to be doing so well," she said stifling her laughter. She looked around at all the books that were left. She put a couple of them up before speaking again.
"You know it might be a bit easier...and safer, if you used your wand to put away the books," she said with a smile. "I think you'd be slightly less likely to drop them." Maria could tell that Mike was definately a bit clumsy, but that made him very amusing company.

Mike looked at her, half smiling, at least she was seeing the funny side of him being in quite a bit of pain. He always supposed books were a safe way to release yourself from everyday idiocy, now he realised he was probably more safe in the forest than he was in the school library. "Ever get the feeling books have a vendetta against you?" he said grimacing, "Because im having that feeling right at this moment"
Mike felt around in his pocket for his wand and pulled it out, "I think i keep forgetting about this thing" he spoke with a smirk, he had always done things so they would give him more trouble than doing things the way that would be easiest, "Wingardium Leviosa" He spoke, pointing his wand at some of the books and putting them back on the shelves, concentrating mainly on the heavy ones, "Remind me, next time i take a trip to the library, wear some armour, preferably around the feet and head area" he laughed as the last book was levitated to the shelf.
